Patrick Sauriol has scored a bunch of exclusive spoiler leaks from George Miller’s upcoming Justice League of America live-action movie. Don’t read any further if you don’t want to know abything about the characters or plot of the film.
The film will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, a John Stewart version of Green Lantern, The Flash and Martian Manhunter. Where did Aquaman go? I thought he was the sole reason for all the motion capture 3D animation talk a while back? And he’s certainly a better character than Martian Manhunter. The Flash will supposedly have a crush on Wonder Woman (ugh), but who wouldn’t. He is also the youngest member of the super-group. Wonder Woman acts as defacto humanitarian (ala Angelina Jolie) for the group. Batman has a device called “Redeye” which allows him to spy on other league members so that if a JLA that goes rogue or becomes a villain. But the main villain in the film (unnamed at this point) gains control of the Redeye device, and uses it against the JLA and the human race. And at some point Batman goes bad, whatever that means. So far I’m really not digging this plot, but I do like that the film is not being used as a group origin/team-up story.

The plot actually sounds a bit like the Prelude to Infinite Crisis on the Justice League comics, or even the Tower of Babel story arc. Batman has a spy satellite called Brother Eye and someone else takes control of it and finds out the weaknesses of all the other superheroes and uses Batman’s plans to neutralize them all in case they go bad to actually neutralize them. Afterwards all the other heroes votes Batman off the team… or something like that.
So I guess the movie makers are going with something the comic fans are already familiar with. Maybe with some twists along the way.

Actually, thats the storyline of “Tower of Babel” of the JLA series.
Ras Al Ghul steals the different weaknesses of the JLA from Batman’s cave and the JLA tower.
He then uses a frequency “changer” what have you, and makes it so that people are seeing and hearing “babble” like in the biblical story when people tried to build a tower tall enough to reach g0d and then g0d broke the building down and then scattered the people all around earth with different tongues so they could never try to do it again.

I’ve read Tower of Babel and Infinite Crisis and if you ask me this sounds more like the OMACs (speaking of which, rumors released on movies.com over a month ago said that the JLA movie would involve the OMACs.

Brother Eye Releases the OMACs allowing for an epic superhero battle (this sounds more likely than T. of Babel because where’s all the action there? People would be yelling that it’s Superman Returns part 2. A war between countries that ALMOST happens? I’ll take the OMACs”
in short tho, I think whoever leaked these spoilers was just someone that had never read the comics before so they were unable to visualize what it was about.

Thank you, Pat! I was thinking OMACs and Bat’s Brother Eye, too. Tower of Babel has similarities to this JLA plot, but DC admits to lifting ideas from ToB for Infinite Crisis.

IMO, Bale and Routh would be ideal to remain in their roles, they did a brilliant job in their respective films. Ryan Reynolds would make a good Flash or even a good wise-cracking Green Lantern. Ali Larter or Jordana Brewster would be good for Wonderwoman while if hee wasn’t already cast as Joker in the Batman movie, Heath Ledger would have been good as Aquaman?

I think that if there hasn´t been a decent movie about superheroes, except BATMAN BEGINS and probably The dark knight, how the hell are they planning to do a JLA movie??
I mean, Superman Returns sucked in every way.. There hasn´t been an actuall movie about Flash or Wonder Woman, and there are many things to explain before including the Infinite Crisis (the comic´s real mess).
I think it´s not a good idea to make this film, at least for now…
