Update #1: Paramount Pictures has apparently set June 29th 2009 as the official release date for Transformers 2, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay have signed with DreamWorks to make Transformers 2, which will hit theaters in Summer 2009. However, Michael Bay wrote last week on his blog that he might be “jump ship” to make a pre-strike movie. If Bay gets involved in a big budget picture like Disney’s Prince of Persia, who knows when Bay would be available for a Transformers sequel.
It took a little longer than 12 months to make the first film (pre-production to completion), and that probably involved a longer pre-production process (due to initial concepts and designs). So for Transformers 2 to hit screens in July of 2009, the film would need to begin production by Fall 2008. And if Bay were to make a pre-strike movie, that is the date he would need to be free by.

I was really skeptical about seeing the movie before it came out. But saw it once, then saw it twice, then three times and the rest is history. I can’t go a week without seeing it at least two times. Was the best movie I’ve seen. It had amazing graphics, Meagan Fox was hot, Story was great as well. Can’t wait for the second one.

Transformers has got to be the best movie ever, and I read a very short summary over the movie. I basically memorized it. I remember that Jake says that Starscream is sill alive. And he is. He goes back to Cybertron and gets a lot more Decepticons. And Remember Scorpinox, Blackout’s little companion? He figures out where Megatron is, and he breaks into there, and he revives Megatron with the spark in him. But…the autobots get wind of this, and a whole gang of autobots come and…well…you can probably guess what happens after that. YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a seventies baby. Personally, Transformers was the BEST movie I had ever seen. I did not get to see Spiderman 3 in theaters. Everytime we went to see it we ended up turning it down for Transformers. 3 times in all, and three more times since DVD release.

Well I hope its just as good as the first one. It was pretty clear that they would make a second one, with Starscream flying out from the Earth and back into space again. Maybe they’ll have the Dino-bots, or more of the classic bad guys in it, like sound-wave. Theres so many different Transformers out there, its most likely they’ll make a third film also!

I think the ending of the 1st movie left them in a good position to go many directions for the second. Here a couple of my suggestions
1. Decepticons can bouce back and set up a base at the bottom of the ocean, kinda like in the cartoon.
2. Go into the history of Cybortron, and introduce new decepticons, and autobots.
3. Bring Unicron into the picture, towards the end of the movie, and revive Megatron/Galvatron

Transformers was simply amazing the actors were good, the story was awesome, and the graphics were amazing. If you didnt like it and dont care to see the second one, then why are you reading about it to find out more information?

I thought Transformers was a very entertaining movie. To call it the best movie ever made, however, would be incorrect. In its genre of action/comedy/sort of sci fi it is certainly one of the better ones, but there are movies with far more intelligent dialogue and more developed characters in them.
For example, i found myself caring very little when Jazz was ripped in two. He had very little screen time and those who went into the cinema with no previous knowledge of his character left in exactly the same level of understanding. And the “I’ll drive, you shoot” line makes me cringe every time I watch it.
On the other hand, the main characters were all fleshed out with back stories, quirks etc, and the fight between Optimus Prime and Bonecrusher established his obvious badass credentials very well indeed. For sheer entertainment value, I would happily watch this film again and again.

Transformers was a good movie. Not MIND BLOWING, but good. I enjoyed the comedy/action aspects of the whole thing and the Autobots made me laugh. Transformers 2 is more than likely going to be like every sequel ever made… not as good as the first but still pretty sweet. Looking forward to 2009!

Transformers2 will be coming out within the next two years, There will be new deceps and autos hence why some of the action figures out were not in the first movie, they decided to push them back for the third movie.(example RC the female motorcycle autobot). Michael bay has chosen to leak falsified information on the net and it seems to be working one of you mentioned the plot which you can google scorponox revives megatron the unicorn series probably will be the final chapter if included. Thats a BIG IF as always the movies dont always follow the comics or cartoons there is a lot of creative freedom invovlved and the directors are left with many options. With all of that said TF was incredible and the next 1 or 2 or 3 or even 11 will all be as well.

The second transformers film should introduce more of the Autobots and more of the Decepticons, it would be best if both the Autobots & Decepticons set up bases on earth Prime leading the Autobots, Star Scream initially leading the Decepticons then someone like Soundwave or Scurrge turning up to take over the helm and pave the way for the return of Megatron or Galvatron.
Who I think should be in the sequel well.. Ultra Magnus, Hot Rod, Arcee, Highbrow, Blur, Skyfire, Cop, Cliff Jumper along that line I think, bots with personality and a reason to be there.
Please no Unicron! no Dinobots! and no Constructicons! they would all ruin the film and were the weakest things that appeared in the cartoon, I’d much rather see Alpha Trion Primes creator or the Quintissons friends and allies of all Cybertronians.

The movie has a wild imagination and it’s got that ‘make’s me wanna laugh’ type humore.
It’s got comedy, action, love and a little bit of fantacy. And FYI “i luv Transformers”, Bumble bee’s brittish voice is by Mark Ryan.

“TRANSFORMER ROBOTS IN DISGUISE” sorry i just love it so much. i can’t wait for transformers two because star scream,baricade and even megatron are coming back, and new ones like(ab for auto bot, dct is for deicepticons) prowl-ab,sound wave-dct,ultra magnas-ab. its fantastic i know the most about movies because i’m all ways a pics fan. and the best thing is that its on my birthday(actully my birthday is on the ## and the films coming out on the 26th, DAMN)

this is what i found out.
the government is so dumb that they don’t kill megatron. They keep him. In the movie you don’t see megatron getting pushed of the aircraft carrier so hes gonna come back.

Shia, he’s not a bum! Okay, he smokes cigaretts! Is there anything SO bad about that? I mean, it’s not like it’s like crack! You probably think he’s a ‘hopless drunk’ because you’ve seen pictures of him on STUPID websites. You probably also think that too, because of him in the newspaper, because of the walgreen’s thing. Well you can’t put the whole world on his shoulders because of that one mistake!! AND… alalallalalla is totally right! How would he make his way to being an awesome actor?

i’ve seen two of the seens before on you tube its so wicked any way ethor here might be right but i’ve heard that decpticon deep dive recovered megatrons body and now the king of hells saints star scream i think the auto bots can just sit back and wacth the two having a cat fight. but after that megatron starts the finally on optimus prime.

TF is the baddest movie i’v ever seen. The best part was when Optimise Prime jabbed that bad golden sword into Bonecrusher and his head pops off.

OK, like arm pits, everyone has them. Same with opinions. I have to agree with some other posts here. If you didn’t like the first TF movie, why are you here? Its like someone who hates chicken but goes to out of his/her way to find a KFC. Stupid is as stupid does…
No speculation on the plot for the second movie for me, because many part 2s never seem to follow logic and sometimes don’t make any sense. You just have to go for the ride and not the story. How many comic 2 bigscreen interpretations has ANYONE seen followed the comic books / TV series? Remember people a bigscreen’s story has to start and finish within 2 - 2.5 hours and add a teaser ending. Comic books/ TV series have hours to spread out a story.
My only questions are the loose ends from the first movie. As mentioned by a post earlier, what about the three Deceptcons created when Shia fell down?
The Mountain Dew bot, the Computer bot, and the Cadillac Escalade bot? Yep what about Barricade and the Skorpinox?
I though it was Megartron (the one dropped off was missing one leg, same as the damage he had in the final street battle) that was dropped into the ocean? I felt that did not make sense cause our military intelligence would NEVER in a million years drop off a piece of technology like Megatron into the ocean would they?
Mr. Bay if you read these posts, how about to make the synopsis tie in like this: the one that was dropped into the ocean was a fake created by our government to deceive the world as to our true intentions; to reverse engineer the Decepticon technology for ourselves. Then by circumstances, the remaining five (?) Decepticons find out where Megatron is and sacrafice the Mountain Dew, Computer, and Escalade bot’s Energon to reveive him, but it isn’t enough to completely restore Megatron, until help arrives… just don’t over do the CG and keep the story intact and moving.
I am reading alot of true TF fans out there and they wan’t more Autobots and Decepticons, but if that happens the focus will take away from character development and the story. We have seen this too many times in the past on other comic interpretations. Reason Spiderman trilogy is so successful is not because it is Spiderman, kids alone bring in all kinds of money, but big money comes from a movie being able to cross over and capture an audience that would normally NOT spend their theater ticket money on.
I am sure Spiderman captured much more crossover audience than any of the X-Men movies did!
Either way, when the second movie comes out, I will be there to see it. Same way George Lucas got my money, it didn’t matter if the stories tied in tightly on the plot, it was just cool to see it.
Expect delays I am sure….

it took 4 yrs to make the first one (or for it to come out) so I hope that this movie does come out in 2009 I remember when they started filming back in detroit. The shut down our building and paid us for a week. and that was in 2004. I loved the movie it was great and I got to see my job building get blown up wish it happen in real life and my apartment building. Great Movie

This movie sucked with a capitol “S”. The transformers were barely in it. I only watched the whole thing because i thought there was going to be a massive showdown between prime and Megatron. But there wasn’t. That final battle was blurry and confusing. It was completely impossible to tell what the hell was going on. They did a horrible job introducing the decepticons. It wasn’t sad at all when Jazz died because I wasn’t even sure if he DID die. Bay’s a horrible director i didn’t even know you make action sequences this lousy esp. with todays special effects. The dialog was awful. It was like sitting thourgh a really bad sit com or something. They spent too much time trying to be funny (and failed) they should make a transformers 2. but they should let someone else do it

Michel Bay X Spielberg are perfect for this film. What more do you want than robots fighting being directed by Michel Bay. I know all you DIE hard transformers fans want more talking and character development and make it exactly like the series but why make a movie about it if it is exactly the same, thats just a big waste of money and time. I thought the film was awesome and till this day its one of those movies that you can just keep watching it over and over because of the animation the action and the feeling of being a kid again. Some people just take the movie way to seriously and just forget how your suppose to have fun and be amazed when you watch it like your a kid again, which i think is the whole point of the movie.

heres what they need, for a better transformers movie:
Less talking (especially random people in random computer labs) more action. Srsly there were some good money shots in the movie, but those were all the ones from the trailer.
Have a story that MAKES SENSE. An action movie’s action scenes tend to pay off much better when theres a REASON for all the action, it just kinda puts it together, rather than, ‘hey lets get all these cool scenes and mash a story between em.’
Keep the dialogue, Keep shia laboeuf, dont make Prime such a pussy, and give the bad guys some personality! they were the robot equivalent of evil henchmen, u know, the anonymous type that stallone kills 50 of in al his movies.
Best scene was; “youve failed me yet again, starscream’, WOW some backstory! more of that please!

shenzo i agree with you on somethings and somethings not. I agree that the badguys should have better personality. But the story rocked and the action went amazing with it and optimus rocked but every one can have there own view point.
