Last week we told you about a massive funeral scene they were shooting for The Dark Knight. We now know who was in the coffin. After the jump.
According to Comic Book Resources, there was a large framed picture of Morgan Freeman above the coffin. However, this doesn’t sound right to me. Was Fox Military or Police? Because whomever the funeral was for got seven gun salute. May-be they consider Fox’s work on technologies at Wayne Enterprise to be service for the military?
Or maybe Warner Bros decided to put a fake photo up in an attempt to keep the real identity guarded. The funeral took place in a public place with a lot of extras. And with Dark Knight spoilers being posted EVERYWHERE now-a-days, it wouldn’t surprise me.

You make some excellent points, Pete. After reading your post, I’m wondering if, as you suggest, it’s all a ruse that they’ll fix in post-production (i.e., replace one image with another). It’s a definite possibility, though, especially considering how minor the character is relative the Batman mythos.

This report is totally bunk.
I was an extra on Saturday’s filming of the procession. As such I am bound by a confidentiality statement with WB.
I will say these three things, however:
1. There was no coffin in the procession. The leading police officers carried a U.S. flag held horizontally.
2. There was a eulogy given by Nestor Carbonell’s character. He identified the deceased. It was not Fox.
3. I stood two feet behind Anthony Michael Hall while his character was reporting on the funeral procession. He said who had died, and it was the same person who was eulogized.
If you want to know, Hollywoodchicago.com has published it accurately. I know many will discount my report since I didn’t name who the funeral was for, but hey, you don’t have to believe me, you’ll just have to look at the back of my big head when Anthony Michael Hall’s report is on IMAX next summer!

Racheal Dawes! Think about it… I’m no one important, but I had my theories prior to reading about a “funeral scene.” She’s bound to die rather sooner than later. Bruce Wayne can’t be with one woman forever. In addition to that, my theory is the Joker (aka THE FREAKING MAN) is going to murder her only to test batman’s will and devotion toward his “fighting injustice and not revenge.” And if he murders Dawes, Wayne/Batman is going to go NUTS! Joker will find a way to literally test batman, and what other way to do so than that?

I was thinking Joker killing Rachel would be a great way to start the batman/joker rivalry. hopefully they’ll stay true to the comics and keep him around for awhile so that they can develop that mutual contempt and intimate knowledge of one another that they have in the books.

It could be Rachel. It might be for Commissioner Loeb too, setting up the move for Lt. Gordon to the Commish.
