First , I think there should be a lot less name-calling and arguing. State your point of view, and respect the viewpoint of others.

Is Depression a disease? I don’t like that word… cancer is a disease… Depression is a serious issue, but it’s not contagious or hereditary. Maybe it’s caused by a chemical imbalance, but I don’t think that’s always the case.

I think it’s true that people who want to kill themselves are successful, because if you are serious about it, you should know what methods are effective and which are not. If you go with the least effective method, it’s probably a cry for help or attention.

Money and fame cannot fix every problem, but they can fix a lot of them! You can’t expect me to believe that it’s harder to be wealthy than poor. I think that a lot of people become depressed because they are not successful. Losing a job, losing your house, being in debt to the point you can’t see a way out… they make your situation seem hopeless. A wealthy individual does not have those pressures. They may have other issues, feeling that they have to keep up an appearance for the public, etc. but I think it’s easier to deal with problems if you have money.

I like Owen Wilson, he’s one of my favorite actors and I only found out about the suicide attempt recently, and I was surprised. I hope he recovers and overcomes his depression.

But Jennifer’s right, we should really quit poking at him if he isn’t even here. ‘Less you want him to come back, which would make him right. We don’t want that, do we?

I know how tempting it is to take jabs at mean people… Heck, I did it. But try to resist, k? There’s plenty of other blogs full of mean people out there: maybe one of them could use you right about now. I frequent mercatornet.com quite a bit for religious-type news… anyways, I’m just suggesting not taunting a guy who’s left. He’s not bothering anyone right now, to our knowledge^^

He always seemed to me to be one of the Good Guys of Hollywood, and has been doing a good job of making us laugh recently.

It just proves that even Hollywood Stars can get depressed like the rest of us.

Perhaps even some good can come of this, if he uses the experience to speak up for others who suffer Depression, or even become a Campaigner for Depression support groups.

I just hope Mr Wilson gets well soon, because I enjoy his performances in his Films.

It seemed to be a matter of getting the last word in, rather than contributing something more productive (read: playing his game).

as for your bit that I’m being childish, posting the same kind of garbage… well, maybe I am. But usually you have to learn someone’s language before you can meaningfully converse with them, and since my first ‘polite’ reply failed to do a thing, I threw that rant out there.

I’m not trying to disrespect any bystanders; I’m just acting on the hope that maybe some people will opt for not insulting people.
