The first Alien vs. Predator movie was a disaster. I don’t know how, but Paul W.S. Anderson ruined it (like he has countless other movies). I mean, what was up with the secret underground pyramid underneath Antarctica?
The sequel, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, is directed by Colin and Greg Strause (long time visual effects producers), and looks to be everything I wanted from the first film. IGN has released a red-band R-rated trailer. You can watch it after the jump, but please be aware, it’s very gruesome. I don’t believe I’m actually looking forward to this movie!?

I just wanted to make a correction: the title of the film is Aliens (plural) vs. Predator: Requiem; I don’t know how important that is but I thought I should point it out. BTW, movie looks gruesomely awesome.

Yeah, the directors did a few interviews where they were stating that this one is much more in the vein of the Alien and Predator movies (aka not ‘mentally handicapped’ — I’m being all P.C. for you now, Peter), so I’m definitely stoked.

I used to read the books of AVP back in the mid 90s. When the flick hit the theater the only thing good about it was the gang fight in the parking lot after it was over. Soooo, the Aliens finally made it to earth after all of Ripleys hard work, huh? Looks fucken incredible for an Alien and a Predator movie…And PS, The space marines all took out dozens of Aliens each in the 2nd movie, and the Predators went down too easily in AVP. They were supposed to fucken obliterate tons of Aliens and fall in a swarm! Sorry, had to vent. Hopefully they have more warrior cred in this one.

Well, wouldnt this be before Ripley? This is deffinatly in the past looking at it from Alien 1-4’s point of view. I could be completely wrong. Its been a while since I’ve seen any of them. I’ll have to watch them again now.
Anyway, we should just completly forget about the first AVP and make this one AVP. Any thought about whether they’re going to include that stupid predalien in this one?

I was actually surprised about the gore. They must have shown almost every death scene in the whole movie. If not, it’s gonna be a crazy show.

Long time Alien fan here, all 4 original series films have their merits IMO (I was on the set of Resurrection-totally awesome experience!) and even though my wish is that Sigourney Weaver get one last film (and why not, she looks fantastic for being near 60 and is in great shape-if Bruce Willis can get a Die Hard 4 at his age, not to mention Harrison Ford at 64 doing another Indiana Jones 4, then why not-this is her series and she is an icon for many) this does look promising.
The main problem with the first one was the PG-13 rating and the lack of action between the title characters, not to mention the glaring continuity dilemma it sets up (which can be easily fixed with an Alien 5 involving Ripley finding out how much the creature is desired after it being encountered many years before). The trailer looks as though Fox hopefully listened to the complaints of fans (a rare thing indeed lol) and is attempting to make amends. I think AVP Redemption would be a better title though-watch the next installment get that moniker!

Yes, the AVP films take place roughly 15-20 years after the Predator films and (someone feel free to correct me if im way off) about 150-200 years before the Alien series. The continuity issue stems from the premise set in the Alien films that the encounters with the creature (referred to as Xenomorphs in the second film) are the first ever. But as I stated before, this can be fixed easily with some creative writing.

If you look closely, you can see the alien-predator hybrid creature. after the scene where the predator takes out and expands his spear. the creature after that seems to be a predador but then turns to the side and looks to be a queen alien with long braids.

I have been waiting for this movie for a long time. I am a big fan of the series and have read all of the novels and graphic novels(some of which are the same), and this movie looks very close to the spirit of this franchise. The predalien looks great, not too over done, and the body count is going to make this flick one to not miss. I’ll see you all in the theatre opening day.

This movie looks awesome! I am a die hard Alien fan, and I think this one is going to be much better than the first AVP movie….I will admit though, I had to buy the first AVP movie to add to my Alien and Predator movie collection…I can’t wait until Christmas! :)

Its difficult to really tell whether this next installment will the improved sequal we all expect, by looking at the clips yes I think it could be, although as we all know quite well,looks can be deceiving. I have been a very big fan of the alien series and put alien 1 in my top five best films . I do really hope it is as plesing as it appears it does lok as if the director has mooved back a few films to maybe the suspence of alien 1 and the frenzy of aliens into one film. we will just have to wait untill the 25/12/ to really know????

I liked the first one although I could have done with less piramid and more action. And the action was almost all at the end… that recepie for movie making has expired long ago.
I’m a huge fan of Alien, must have seen the first one about 15 times, know all the lines… including the alien’s…lolol. I wasn’t a big fan of Predator but they really “work” well toguether.
If they keep doing reruns over and over the next ones will surely be a failure… there’s only so much you CAN do with 2 alien life forms chopping each other up or chopping us instead… picture quality with be the way to go here not quantity of bodies…

This AVP2 seems like it will be good…. and i like how they started it off from the last movie AVP1 when the Alien pops out of predatorsd chest…. and it seems that the aliens try to take over on the ship and they have a crash landing in a small town were the slaughter begins again! Cant wait….. surely will be there on Christmas no matter what!

Hmmm…Well, the trailor looks great, and I’m guessing that this one will be a damned sight better than the first AVP movie. That being said, I’ll venture the guess that while this new movie looks to be a really visually great movie with a lot of action, I’m not expecting it to provide really inspiring acting or a really gripping plot. Ultimately I think that the movie will look great and appeal to anyone with an appreciation for sci-fi action and gore. It’ll be good for killing a couple of hours, but probably not more than that.
On an entirely personal level, I’d really have liked to see them make a movie out of the old AVP books. They rocked.

I disagree completely - the first Aliens vs Predator movie was TOTALLY AWESOME! One of my favorite movies ever, it had a fantastic plot, great character development, and a super cast. Unfortunately I saw Aliens vs Predator 2 last night and was ABSOLUTELY disappointed - it was TERRIBLE. It seems like they just threw the movie together, rotten character development, bad acting, it just seemed like a cheesy horror movie. Nothing like the first, which I think is a shame.

Yup. The movie totally sucked. It was written for teenage girls. If you plan to have a daddy-daughter day anytime soon, this is a great choice. If you are with your son you can take him and use this movie as an illustration to how-not-to make a movie.
My theater occupied one girl for every 50 guys yet all us guys had to sit through some retarded mommy-daughter plot that sucked!!! Sucked Sucked Sucked. Oh and then they tortured us with some high-school love crap. It sucks guys. No cgi. It was all fake 1940’s horror live-acting monsters/ It was truly embarrassing.

~Okay I have seen all 4 of the Alien movies and I love them all. But AVP really messed up bad. Cause ain’t the Alien movies about the future and stuff. In AVP it was like going to the past and forgetting about the 4 Alien movies and retelling the story. I hope in the future they fix up the movies cause going from the future to the past got me dizzy. i saw the movie and it suxs big time…. not as what i expected.. a lot of technical issue which dun make sense… eg
- earlier versions when pred dies… they have a bunch of pred buddies to do some ritual and body collection…
- when aliens goes into human they dun become alienhuman… but then when they go into pred, they become alienpred… ??
- lots of killing children and infants
- earlier versions of alien… normal guns cant take those buggers down… also then national guard(trained) cant take them down in avp2… but during escape 1 soldier+excon+pizza boy takes down a couple
- alien blood melts/burns down faces and metal but during escape in a helicopter, the alien gets blasted at the copper windscreen… nothin melts..
- the whole movie ended up in such a way the american government becomes a winner by dropping an a-bomb… and sets everything right… what that guys says at the last also do not make sense when he was commenting about the pred gun…

A few more things to add to avpsx post.
-What was up when they got into the apc. “hey lets go to the center of town…but all the aliens are there!” here’s a thought turn that apc in the opposite direction and drive out of town…hmmmm makes sense.
-what was up with the blue chemical he had. From my recollection he only took one from the ship, I mean did he get that never ending bottle off Jesus when he feed the thousands of people with a few baskets of bread.
- Lighting sucked..way too dark
- what was up with the pregnant women spawning aliens. Just stupid and weird
- A nice few times you could clearly tell the pred looked like a man in a suit.
- Did I mention how bad the lighting was
- The list can go on and on. Over all the directors Colin and Greg Strause should be taken out and whipped for this tradey

Unfortunately the movie has plot line inconsistancies… namely:
*The aliens were spawning crawling handlike breeders without a queen or pods.
*Apparently the “Predatalien” can impregnate through its mouth, but the aliens are spawned without requiring the crawling breeders. *Furthermore, once a “Predatalien” spawn is born, it resembles the clasic alien physique, not the “Predatalien” physique.
*And lastly, since there is no queen to make alien pods, where did the crawling hand breeders come from?
Granted, I walked into the theater at the point the dog brought the arm of the dad in the sewer, but I don’t think the plot line origin had the time to address these inconsistancies.

I did watch this film a few weeks ago. Firstly this film over all is not a bad film and is a better film than the first AVP , I think as acting goes it is not as bad as people have potrayed, As to plot problems through the film there are not to many and the odd couple that might make you think to your self hang on a minute ? are faded away with the movement of the film. The film which is shot quite a bit in darkness is still easy to watch though and you dont feel there is too much darkness. IT contains a lot of well constructed action and gore which keeps the film moving along nicely .not saying that this is the best film on the planet but that it is better than many a film I have watched. You will never beat alien 1 or predetor 1 but lets hope the frachise continues……

At the end of the movie Predator’s weapon (well one of them) is presented to some woman that says the would is not ready for this kind of technology. Of coarse it seems that they are setting of for another movie. Any thought? Has anyone heard about any future alien/predator movies?
