Wes Anderson Short Film Stars Natalie Portman

Natalie PortmanLast Week we told you that Wes Anderson’s (Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenenbaums) latest film The Darjeeling Limited would be accompanied by a 12-minute short called Hotel Chevalier, which apparently acts as a prequel to the main feature. I’ve since found out a little more information about Chevalier. Apparently the short film stars Natalie Portman and Jason Schwartzman. Portman also appears briefly in The Darjeeling Limited.

The short takes place in one room of a French hotel (Hotel Chevalier) and serves as “a short epilogue of one heartbreaking history of love and the prologue of the travel told in ‘The Darjeeling Limited.” Hotel Chevalier will screen Out of competition in the upcoming Venice Film Festival.

The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums are two of the most blindingly BORING films I've ever seen. Interesting to learn they were both made by the same guy.

Wow. I am sold. Natalie Portman...it's got to be good. If not we still get 12 minutes with Miss Portman
  • Don,

That's how a lot of people felt. Watch Tenenbaums again, I bet you end up loving it. It is absolutely a stitch! I remember walking out not really knowing what to make of it. After a second or third viewing, I LOVE it. You may find after time that it enters your top 100.

Oh great. Another chance for Natalie Portman to play herself, put no effort whatsoever into her role and otherwise phone in another wooden performance.
