Paul Thomas Anderson Already Writing Next Movie

ptandersonbig.jpg Magnolia and Boogie Nights are amongst some of my favorite films of all time. Ten years ago, many people considered Paul Thomas Anderson to be the next big director to emerge from the 70’s generation of filmmakers. But Anderson (not to be confused with that hack that makes those video game movies) hasn’t made a film since 2002’s Punch-Drunk Love. His adaptation of There Will Be Blood will hit theaters later this year, but the real question is: How long will we have to wait for our next Anderson fix? Five, Ten Years? Maybe not…

The director has told Entertainment Weekly that There Will Be Blood has helped revitalize his creative process.

“I’m writing something new now - and I actually like it,” he told the magazine. Then, with a chuckle: “I know that will end.”

No fair -- PTA got the chance of a lifetime -- he got to be the Director's assistant/understudy/co-director with Altman on his last project, Prairie Home Companion, along with PTA's parter & mother of his child -- Maya Rudolph.

APHC and the experience of working with a pillar of the film industry (Altman) will undoubtedly mark PTA's future films for the better.

I worked with P.T. Anderson as Daniel Day-Lewis stand-in during the shooting in Marfa, Texas. What a great experience ! I believe this will be a movie for the ages.

In many respects, Paul Thomas Anderson is an enigmatic force of nature. Much like; Martin Scorcese, he will have to wait a awful long time to receive a oscar. Directors who produce quality film; after quality film, always get overlooked by the Academy. Instead of getting it for their best film, they get it for their worst .There is no doubt; he is a definative filmaker. He is growing all the time and is compiling a unique body of work- and is versatile enough to make any genre of film that he chooses.
Like some of the greatest ever directors in the history of cinema: Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch,Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spiellburg,Martin Scorcese and Oliver Stone.
