Our friends at IESB are reporting that a screenplay for the proposed Justice League of America movie is finished, and has been warmly received at Warner Bros. I always believed that the film wouldn’t happen until the Superman and Batman franchises started to die down.
My theory being: why waste two superheros in one movie when you could make double the money with two films. Well it seems like I, like most others might have overlooked the benefit of such a film. Apparently the studio is envisioning the film as a lunching pad for other superhero offshoot films such as The Flash, Wonder Woman, The Green Lantern and Aquaman. And the film is suposedly being fast tracked into production.
But what about Superman and Batman? Both Christian Bale and Brandon Routh have contract stipulations which include an option for a third “ensemble” movie. And I don’t believe that a JLA film could be done without both of the leading DC superheroes included. And I don’t that Christopher Nolan would give up on a third Batman film to lend Bale over for JLA. And what about Bryan Singer’s The Man of Steel? Singer’s camp has insisted that Man of Steel will be filmed next. Could that be pushed back to accommodate a JLA film? Maybe?
There are so many ifs, buts, and maybes, that I just don’t see how this film can happen anytime soon. But IESB insists that Justice League of America will start shooting in early 2008 with George Miller directing. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Might be a good movie. They should defiantly use “no-name” actors for everyone though. Having just one or two famous actors could ruin it for a lot of fans.

Movie will be awesome if it’s done well, which it probably will be. Though if they make the movie anytime soon without using Bale as Bats or Routh as Supes it wont really seem as credible. Plus, if they’re using Ryan Reynolds as Flash, they’re bound to find other fairly big names for the other heroes.

This should be a great movie just don’t do alot of animation that will throw the off. unless they do an animation movie and have several stars do the voices

I love the Justice League cartoons that come on Boomerang right now! But I want to know what happened to the Green Lantern that is on the Justice League cartoons now?????? His name is John and he is of African-American descent! I LOVE HIM better than the original Caucasan one.!!! Plus it makes look more diverse. Someone should think about this!
September 7th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
I disagree… If they are going to use this movie to spin off new hero’s movies, I think Hal Jordan (the original Green Lantern) would be the best choice. I agree that there should be some diversity, but Hal is in my book the only choice for GL.

Though Jessica Biel is attractive. She will NEVER be a Linda Carter for Wonder Women, even if she fills in!
September 28th, 2007 at 5:55 am
Absolutely agree, Hal Jordan is the one true Green Lantern. There are other superheroes that can be put in for diversity, but don’t change GL.

I am A fan of the Justice League Of the 70’s and 80’s. When the JLA toons came on I was disapointed in WB’s choice for GL. However the storie where very well done. I am very worried that this JLA movie is going to be as Bad as all the other DC Movies. Sorry fellow DC fans but its true. I have seen them all including that horrible Cat Woman Tripe. I really Think Warner’s big problem is that They don’t have anyone on staff that loves the DC Propeties as much as Stan Lee Love’s His Properties. Therefore we the fans are suffer with trash. A while back I saw a fan piece called GREYSON it was the Best Live action comics piece I evere saw and, all it will everbe is a Trailer SHAM!

What is it with the movie industry these days ? Do they not see the true Justice League crew that has so beautifully been brought to life on the hit show Smallville ? Why not take these charactors , or should I say actors and place them in the roles that they already play so well . Not to mention that they are already used to acting with each other . Would it not make more sense to expand the story lines of these charactors and explore the Justice League that way ? Im sure that I am not the only person who thinks thinks that Tom Welling suits the role of Superman very , very well , so why not do a feature film with SV charactors . DOES ANYON ELSE AGREE WITH THIS ?

i agree smallville has had sucess over the years so why are they reintroducing new actors in roles all ready being played
October 9th, 2007 at 3:40 am
i agree smallvillehas had success over years but t.v. is different from bigscreen and new actors makes a movie more exciting as long as those actors are reaaly good .

This sounds great but I guess it means they’ve shelved the Wonder Woman movie that Joss Whedon has been working on for the last couple of years, it was taking forever and they were getting no where fast. Anyhow I love JLA cartoons. I think the biggest stumbling block is getting someone to live up to Lynda Carter, its almost impossible, Jessica Biel might have a shot or maybe LC’s daughter have u seen her, she’s hot as, if she was inclined that way I think that or someone near that look is the only credible way to go.

Here is my idea for the cast:
Superman: Brandon Routh (of course)
Batman: Christian Bale (of course)
Wonder Woman: Catherine Zeta Jones
Green Lantern (Hal Jordan): Gale Harold (Brian Kinney from Queer as Folk)
Black Canary: still thinking about this one
Black Lightning: his name escapes me, but he played Gunn in the Angel series
The Flash: Paul O’Brien (an Australian actor currently on the soap Home and Away)
Plot: This movie is set after the disbandment of the original JLA, so the movie can be the springboard for a prequel, as well as featuring some of the underlying tensions between key members that lead to the original breakup. The JLA must reunite to face a double threat to the planet when Lex Luthor is elected to the US presidency and he aligns himself with a mysterious figure who turns out to be Darkseid, who ultimately betrays Pres. Luthor and the JLA must prevent the destruction of the planet and ironically save Lex Luthor.

Tom Welling would be the best possible choice for superman, it’s hard to picture him in tights though.

Hello fellow D C fans I wanted to amend the last word in my last comment. I am sure all of you know it was ment to read Shame. I don’t know if the Waner folks read this but, I was thinking the other day. It would be great if the Guys that made the last JLA toons. Would make new one hour special shows. Featuring individual heroes or villians or hero or villian teams. They could sell them as singe DVDs and, at say a prise like $12.00 per copy and, do the covers like the D C Comic book covers. they could put out seveal storys at the same time. You know at first I didn’t like the art work for these shows but they kinda grew on me and, I would really like to see more stoies with these folks. I mean all of them the writers, the artist and, the voice actors as well. I would like to see the stories out of the 60’s thru 80’s though. I mean they are 20 years past and. it would be great to see them as toons. Like the Super Powers stories. As far as I am conserned though they can skip the Crisis on Infanent Earths. I hated that story line especialy the ending. Now as far as Live Action stuff thier gonna have to get better or just give up. I mean I wish they would do something good. I am Watching the Batman Cartoon while I am writing this and, its better than the Live action ones. Except the Jack Niclson Joker GREAAAAAAT. Warner you’ve done a little better at Villian choices but, the Super heroic battles are one of the big things about Super heroes movies. Power Rangers has been better than your stuff and its been on for what eleven years? Oh and, Warner I am getting a little boared with LUTHOR especialy this new buissness owner one. He is not Supies only Villian guys. He is in all 5 now 6 of the Superman Movies. Sorry for being long winded friends but, I hope the WB boys read this. Good Journies All

I don’t care who plays any of the other characters, but Tom Welling has got to be Superman. Watch “Smallville” and you will see why. He is the only logical choice. Think about it.
October 25th, 2007 at 4:58 am
Oh Yeah, Jessica Beil in tights would be real nice, but definately Tom Welling as Superman.

I’m upset, I haven’t heard any mention of hawgirl who is supposedly part of the original eight characters in the justice league. What’s up with that?

I think use a young approach at the justice league, such actors like around the age of course Tom Welling as, superman, and I thought the guy who played green arrow was real good, and ryan reynolds would be a good choice as the flash, and like not so famous actorsfor the heros whould be cool, then maybe the villians have a couple more well astablished actors, and a good buget for some great special affects,….not sure who would be a good young batman, christian bale is by far the best…please add some comments would like 2 hear.

i love justive league cartoon and know will be better if there will be movie i can’t wait
December 7th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
I say forget the big name actors.Spend the money on the special effects. And make the movie at least 2 1/2 hours long so you can spend plenty of time on each character. The last X-Men movie had way too much action compressed into too little time.
December 8th, 2007 at 4:31 pm
It appears that Aussie supermodel Megan Gale (five star gorgeous !!!!) has secured the role of Wonder Woman. She’ll look GREAT in the costume….just hope she can act. Still diappointed that WW seems to be the only female cast member though. How about the Black Canary ? I would prefer to see her in the JLA movie rather than the Martian Manhunter. Ali Larter (Heroes) would be a great choice.

I love the fact that there is going to be a movie made it long awaited. i think there is be unknown actor and actress in this movie.
January 1st, 2008 at 5:42 am
all reputable and respectable actors please and not just a B movie JLA deserves the best!
January 1st, 2008 at 5:53 am
Look what happen to Strret fighter the movie It’s only Van Damme who’s got a name in the movie plus he’s the only on ewho knows Martial arts there , the point is casting is very important along with celebrity appeal and budget of course so it would’nt be just for HBO or Cinemax type of films.
May 4th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I would say use the actors from superman and batman but add no name actors/actresses for the other parts. I think this would be an awesome movie, and it could help create branch off movies for the other super heroes of the JLA. I’ll be watching it!
