Katie Holmes

Oh No. I can hear the collective sigh of fanboys from around the world as I type the following bit of news: Katie Holmes is in talks to star in a big screen adaptation of Wonder Woman.

In the past I’ve been very fair to Tom and Katie (unlike most of this country), and I even think Holmes is a good actress. BUT, yes there is a BUT - isn’t Katie just a little too small for the role? The superhero is probably best known for her curvaceous long legs, but Katie is only 5′9” and that’s according to her publicity materials (read: probably shorter). I did a google search to find out exactly how tall Wonder Woman is, and the consensus seems to be that the modern day character is 6′3″while the older version was much shorter (5′11″ was “amazonian” height for a woman in the 1960’s). Plus, let’s be honest, with the Tom Cruise backlash, she just doesn’t have the star/name value to carry a superhero movie.

The good news is that the movie is only in the discussion state. I honestly don’t see the appeal of a Wonder Woman movie at all. Sure, you’ll have a good looking woman kicking ass and taking names in small tight latex/spandex. There is no way Hollywood will be able to put a woman in superhero gear flying an invisible plane on the big screen and make it remotely believable (even in the on screen fantasy world). And besides, how lame of a weapon is the Lasso of Truth? But that’s just my opinion.

Didn’t any of these people see Batman Begins? Katie’s career peaked with Disturbing Behavior. Kate Beckinsale…now that’s a good candidate for Wonder Woman.

Anyone see Cat Woman with Halle Berry? I say if it’s going to be a train wreck they want, we get Chyna from the WWE!

NoNo No! Angelina Jolie is born for this role - after bring miscast in dramas like THE GOOD SHEPERD - we NEED to see her as WONDER WOMAN!

I think Katie Holmes could pull off the character, She does look like linda carter, Not to mention her other look a like features like her smile, and yes her legs. with today’s camera tricks she can be as tall as they need her. Just my opinion.

See the related artical about Jessica Biel. I’d put my money on her, if I were a studio exec. She would make a K.A. Wonder Woman. She has the bod and the moves. You guys did see her in Blade: Trinity. Plus she has the star power right now. Jessica Alba might also do it. But I think Biel has the charisma and pure spunk to pull it off. The Lasso, just made people tell the truth, but Wonder Women has super human strength and speed. She has the power to communicate with animals, super hearing, and she can fly. She also had some really nice gadgets. Remember the invisible plane. Come on people, if they did it right, it could be great. For me there would have to be more of a sci-fi but real day element like the X-Men. No throw back to the early days like they did in that old Captain America movie. It has to to feel current yet futuristic with the technology and hopefully conceptually someone that all of us, who made not be familiar with all of the comic book seriers can relate to. I say all of the cartoons and the TV show, but I have not read all of the comic books and the many character changes that Wonder Woman’s undercover persona went through. There are plenty of villians from the comics and even the cartoons to put her up against. She was ripped in Blade: Trinity too. I would definitely not want to be cornered by her in a dark alley.

    Peace and Love.
