I recently visited an actor friend in LA in late February and caught what I guess would be called the "LA Premier" of Snow Angels at a wonderful old theater that I think was called the Egyptian. As I watched the movie, I was totally moved by the performance of the cast and how they portrayed a real life story. Maybe it was the intimate setting which is the Egyptian, but I felt as though I could actually feel the small town setting in which this film took place. David Gordan Green's depiction of love, sorrow, religion and tragedy was as real as it gets and the film didn't come off as depressing at all. In fact, I found it to be very thought provoking and a true slice of American Pie (as we know it today). The movie was great!!!

I was just looking for an explanation so I could know what to expect. And yeah, I guess some people might dislike DEPRESSING movies. But not so fairy tale ending doesn't have to mean it's depressing, but rather that it's a slice of life. And some people (intelligent ones) don't always have to watch a movie that makes you munch popcorn every 5 seconds in anticipation of the next fight sequence or explosion.

People hate depressing movie endings.
It makes them think about how crappy their lives are that they are relying on a Movie to make them feel good.
There are times when I want a movie to make me think and then there are times I just want something to munch popcorn to, such as some brainstem actor lopping off heads, launch a missile into a building, destroy something with a gatlin gun, someone stepping on a rake and gets a wood facial (sorry I guess that came out wrong, oh wait... that did too...)etc.
Yknow it is probably something like 70/30 toward mindless, but hey, at least I admit to it...
