Yesterday we posted the theatrical one-sheet, and now Paramount Vantage has released the movie trailer for The Kite Runner.
Based on the best selling novel by Khaled Hosseini, Finding Neverland and Monster’s Ball helmer Mark Foster directs this story of a man who returns to his native Afghanistan, which is under Taliban rule, to right a long-standing wrong and rescue the son of a childhood friend. 25th Hour screenwriter David Benioff penned this adaptation.
Despite the over the top movie-guy voice-over, this film looks to be both raw and emotional. At first glance, it definitely seems like an awards contender. Check it out after the jump.
The Kite Runner is set to hit theaters on November 2nd.

hmmm,im not sure if the movie is as good as the book.i dont approve of the guy playing the role of Baba.he was supposed to be a burly man with a strong expression.let’s see if its really a contender for any major awards

At the first glace Baba does not seem to be as strong as I imagine when read the book. I thought Baba would be someone that just by looking one would feel intimidated. It will require a lot of the actor work to be convicent since he lacks the biotype.

I agree with the other comments. Baba does not look how I had pictured him in the book. Also, does the movie portray the childhood of Amir and Hassan together? or does it skip ahead to the part where Amir is in San Francisco?
other than that, i believe that this movie will be very good…not as good as the book though.

i wonder if the movie will change alot of what happened in the book…
i hope not because it such a powerful story and shouldn’t be changed drastically.

I saw the movie at a screening…..DEFINITE awards contender. One of the best movies I’ve ever seen. The father is not as harsh as in the book, but it is such a subtly crafted movie and all the performances are top notch. The kids, esp Hassan, are unbelieveable.

Just came from a screening. I’m speechless. Words don’t suffice…well here’s one, Art. The film is a work of art. I won’t see another movie for at least a week, because this one will be resonating in me to greatly to appreciate any other films for a while.

I can’t wait for the movie.. the release date for North America has been delayed for 6 weeks.. I’m wondering if this is just a publicity stunt or genuine concern for the actors’ safety?
I’m really anxious. I love the book, hope this can top my list too!

Two old-school film veterans, in their 80’s, review “The Kite Runner.” The give an unexpected funny and insightful perspective to Marc Forster’s film.

The Kite Runner the movie was really superb and I really enjoyed it. The feeling of ugliness ran through my spine and that chill was worth a million fold. I have not seen such movie for quite awhile. Brilliant and heartfelt hot sensation - indeed a lesson we all know it is coming.
