Peter Sciretta on CNBC On The Money

A producer from CNBC’s On The Money woke me up this morning. They were working on a news story on the Overnight” trademark filed by JJ Abrams’ legal team, which many believe to be the final title for the top secret monster movie currently code-named Cloverfield. I told them what I knew, thinking that they might want a soundbite for tonight’s newscast. After talking the film up for a few minutes, the producer asked me how fast I could get to a recording studio in downtown San Francisco.

An hour and a half later I found myself sitting in a small recording studio room on the third floor of a very unsuspecting building near the San Francisco bay piers. Two blinding sets of studio lights in front of me, and a blue screen behind me. I sat in a small chair in the middle of the room with an earpiece, which allowed me to communicate to a producer I couldn’t see. I was told to look directly into the red dot of the camera in front of me, while I was interviewed for about five minutes. Talking into a video camera is pretty weird - you almost feel like you’re talking to yourself.

The resulting footage was cut down into a 30 second segment which was featured on CNBC’s “On The Money” on Wednesday, August 1st 2007. It’s funny how much time goes into making one of these segments, when the resulting features are so short. But I was glad to do it, and it was a fun and new experience. Plus, being on a cable news show adds to the credibility of the site.

You can check out the short segment after the jump.
