Malemunyon has sent us some interesting information on the possible title for the JJ Abrams’ produced top-secret monster movie code-named Cloverfield.
Apparently Group One Productions, LLC, and Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer registered a trademark (#77232885) “Overnight” on July 18, 2007, for the use in “motion picture, television and music production and distribution services.” The Attorney of Record for the trademark is Lori N. Boatright, who was also the Attorney of Record for “SLUSHO!,” “SLUSHO! YOU CAN’T DRINK JUST SIX,” and “BAD ROBOT” trademarks (#77229623, #77229614, and #76340985).
Jackoway Tyerman Wertheimer Austen Mandelbaum & Morris represents a few hundred Hollywood actors and a couple directors/producers. Jim Jackoway is an attorney, known to represent J.J. Abrams. He also happens to be the registrant for BadRobot.com. Jackoway was also the original registrant for Slusho.jp, but it was changed to Satoshi before the trailer was released. One thing is for sure, Bad Robot is using Jackoway Tyreman Wertheimer as a cover to basically “launder” all connections to the movie.
“What are the odds that a lawyer (Jackoway) who represents Abrams would register a trademark using the attorney of record who registered Slusho (Boatright)? Further googling shows no previous connection between Boatright and Jackoway.”
So could Overnight be the real title of Cloverfield? We do know that the whole film is supposed to take place in one day (1-18-08) beginning around midnight (overnight). The only thing we really know about the film is that if follows a bunch of normal people who have their lives change OVERNIGHT when a monster invades New York City. Even the guy at the end of the teaser trailer says “this is going to be the best night ever…” This is also the best possible title released thus far (Monstrous, Colossus).

I was at the San Diego Comic Con - JJ was there and did say this was going to be a monster movie in the same vain as Godzilla. Take it for what its worth.
The interesting thing was, Paramount did give us freebee posters, and the one poster I got for the movie looks like the title is “Furious”. Again take it for what its worth.

Can’t say I care for the unimaginative title, but that will have little impact (ok, zero impact) on whether I see “Cloverfield” or not.
July 31st, 2007 at 5:15 pm
@ fred there were 4 posters that got passed out at comic con.. one said furious one said monstrous one had no title on it and i forget the last one.

Terrifying?

If that is the title I think its great. Someone had mentioned in some other threads that something the movie makers wanted to do was create a new epic new monster movie. What better thing to do then to not name it. Makes me think of another movie where the monster did not have a name but everyone knows who it is….Alien. Just my 2 cents.

Not Furious or Monstrous, etc… these are part of the 4 poster teaser for the movie.
overnightmovie.com domain was registered on July 30th but I suspect it is a bandwagon purchase from someone looking to cash in.

Am i the ONLY one that’s noticed what appears to be an alien-like face in the clouds, screaming down from the right toward Liberty’s decapitated body??? Thoughts????
August 4th, 2007 at 10:06 am
If u look in the poster, the Statue of Liberety is facing the wrong way. also, i think it wud b cool if you didnt see the name until the start of the movie. so wen u by tix, it would say “JJ Abram’s Movie” and the opening credidts wud tell u the name.
August 4th, 2007 at 10:09 am
o ya, and the dude from Coney Island (were they shot some of the movie) said it was an alien. but take it wit a grain of salt, because u dont no if they told him the truth or somfin

If you look closely at the neck/shoulder of the statue of liberty, you can see debris still falling. And if you look at the pattern of the water it appears as two parallel straight (well curved) lines, with water flowing away from the center of the two lines. Whatever caused this must have been traveling fast enough to close the gap between the statue and the coast while displacing enough air to make the pattern in the water and still reach the coast before the water had time to smooth over again. It looks to me like whatever did this flew or “zoomed” (slusho)(stupid, I know) at such an intense speed that it knocked of the head of the statue of liberty with enough momentum to send it flying into the coast of Manhattan then quickly crashed into New York to reek havoc . Now I realize that this is just a poster and posters are meant to intice, not to accurately portray a scene from a movie. But the whole crashing into the coast coincides with the trailer. (The timing on the statue’s head may be a little off, that’s for you to decide on your own.)

Now guys break down the scream. a robot mixed with godzilla. now maybe it is like a robo organic alien! but my question is why film it in Los Angeles? and why the names on the set Cheese and Chocolate and Slusho? They are all food…….work from here great info willy! I like your way of thinking

Does anyone else see the face in the clouds to the left of the torch, almost looks like a biker dude wearing sunglasses (I don’t know why I think it’s a biker dude). Also, if there is an alien head to the right it would be looking down at the biker man.

http://www.1-18-08.com/ ok I just fig something out about this THE PICS FLIP OVER!!!! & some have words on the back LIKE
1. Dont forget who takes care of you!! Love J
2. Here, use this photo to send a message of my hotness far and wide!!! Im gonna miss the hell out of ya!! Love Jamie
BUT!!! wait a moment if the pics where taken the same night this went down how did they wirte on the backs of them…and if the the city was under attack how are you still going to write TAKE CARE & IM GONNA MISS THE HELL OUT OF YOU…
and for the people that are slow the pic that Jamie signed dosen’t have Jamie in the pic it has LASCANO,PLATT And ROBBIE…soo???
and both are signed with a J….. well Jamie & J and if J is Jamie the handwriteing is not the same SOOO who is J? hell for that matter who is Jamie??
ok ok so to get the pics to flip make sure the one you want to flip is on top and no other pic is on top of it….press and hold the left mouse button and shake the pic just little..
P.S. not all the pics have words on the back BUT this is as of
10:00am Sep. 13th 2007…as we all know the site keeps getting updates
THAT IS ALL myspace.com/crazyboy_cali
September 13th, 2007 at 3:31 pm
do your research, crazyboy. those things have been on the backs for a long time. the 2 j’s are Jamie LASCANO (Hudson PLATT and Rob “ROBBIE” Hawkins are the 2 others in the pic, she was the girl) and Jason (JJ) Hawkins (Rob’s brother). Jamie is one of rob’s friends and the reason that the photos have stuff on the back is because they were taken before the monster attacked. Also, on the pack of Jamie’s pic, the a, the n, and the d in and are smudged, as is the w id wide, spelling “dawn,” if rearranged. I’m guessing that the pics polaroids or something. The people are all on myspace, and for those of you who don’t listen THE STATUE OF LIBERETY IS BACKWARDS IN THE POSTER! HMMM… IT COULDN’T POSSIBLY BE A CLUE, COULD IT?? Please excuse my capitalization.
September 17th, 2007 at 11:49 pm
if you look at the movie poster at the statue of liberty where the claw marks are on the statues back ,it looks like there is a face,if you zoom in .

Hello!
What do you think about Apple Iogo? >:)
November 27th, 2007 at 3:13 pm
“Bad robot”? That’s surious. We saw a poster for this (with the name “Cloverfield” on it) this week and my friend swears he can see a giant robot in the smoke in the city.I couldn’t see it.
November 27th, 2007 at 4:35 pm
Its not about a robot. I can almost guarentee you of that. Your friend (like most of us) was trying to see things, so they did, but they weren’t actually there. Bad Robot is JJ Abrams’ (my dad’s!) production company, which he has had since Alias and used to be part of Touchstone. It means nothing in terms of the plot. Btw, “Cloverfield” is the name of the movie, it’s been confirmed by a new preview before Beowulf. So I guess that this thread is not outdated…
December 29th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
look, the name of the movie might be cloverfield, and the creature might be a robot of some kind(bad robot),but how in gods name does slusho tie in
December 29th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
Like I said earlier, Bad Robot has been around longer than Cloverfield. And it is called Cloverfield–all the trailers and movie tickets and stuff say that. But I think Slusho is part of the company (Tagruato or something) that Rob, the main character goes to work for. SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!! I read somewhere that Slusho makes you implode like 12 hours after you drink it and little monsters come out and eat people. It’s like Alien, but it’s not, because Alien is copyrighted. SPOILER ALERT IS OVER!!! RETURN TO YOUR NORMAL READING ACTIVITIES!!! But beyond that little possible spoiler, I am as clueless as you are, j-615, about what the hell Slusho is going to be used for.
December 30th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
If you went to slusho.com,the drink looked like water,so if it is a robot ,mabey it was lost in the water and then actavated in the future,or it could be cthulu.
December 30th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
It’s NOT CTHULU!!!!!!! My dad said it was original, and he’s the producer, so I think that he would know. sorry. Slusho is a lot like ICEEs, u know the drinks you get in the movie theaters and amusement parks? So it’s not water. I don’t know what the “slusho bots” have to do with it, so I can see why you might think that it’s a robot. My dad doesn’t tell me much, so I really don’t know. You could be onto something, but I’ll just wait until January 18th, 2008, to find out if you’re right. My guess, though, is that it’s organic.
