Some photos of what appears to be the theatrical teaser poster for JJ Abrams top secret monster flick which is code-named Cloverfield. The unfiction forum user took the pics with a Motorola V3 camera phone at Frank & Son’s warehouse sale. The poster depicts a headless statue of liberty overlooking New York City. The top of the poster has the text “MONSTROUS”. The lower right corner supposedly has the date “1-18-08″. We have no idea if this poster is real or fan created. There is also a third possibility, it could be a third party knock off which is trying to take advantage of the tremendous buzz. One thing is for sure, with Comic Con later this week, we’ll finally learn the name of movie. Let’s all pray it’s not “Monstrous”. It’s more than likely that Paramount printed up some mini teaser posters for the event like they did last year with Star Trek 11.
Update: It appears that Paramount Pictures bought the domain name TheMonstrousMovie.com on June 8th. So the poster is probably real, although I still refuse to believe that “Monstrous” is the film’s title.
Also, check out the behind the scenes Cloverfield spy footage we posted yesterday.

well, there’s a Transformers “Decepticon” poster to the left of it…. that should add credence, no? same studio behind both movies.

I think this is more of a teaser in the way they had multiples for ‘The Matrix’ sequels. “MONSTROUS†could be one of many verbs to desribe the overall feel/crazyness of the movie.
I guess we’ll find out in a few days.

I really hope that’s the case because I am sorry, Monstrous is a stupid ass name.

i agree with Twisted_films, because there have been many posters that have just a description of what the movie is like, and because Monstrous is such a lame name for a movie I’m sorry!

1-18-08 (USA) (promotional title)
Clover (USA) (fake working title)
Cloverfield (USA) (fake working title)
Slusho (USA) (fake working title)
this was on IMDb.com

imdb.com isn’t always right. Most of the time that sort of info is input by fans like you and I. All I’m saying is that we’ll soon have the real title, and I doubt it’s going to be 1-18-08… If it is… then that’s just LAME.

I wouldn’t mind Monstrous as the title… Guess you need to be open minded to appreciate studios trying new things…

I think people are going to just have to accept that this movie is so
overhyped that the title might as well be “Disappointing” because, no
matter what Abrams does it will not meet up to the hype surrounding it.

Axeman is right about IDMb. What i think J.J Abrams is doing with this title Monstrous (If this ends up being the title) is useing it to his advantage, i mean yeah it is lame and sucks, but it fits in this situation because it doesnt reveal much at all. We still dont know what the monster is, and the poster shows us new york, which we already know about.

I think they are filming part of this in Downey CA right now. I live by Downey Studios and they have been filming a lot of military/crowd stuff against giant blue and green screens. However the fake title is neither Slusho or Cloverfield..it is Chocolate. So amongst some people in the city they have said it is some big secret movie but they did not know what. So it could be, or it could be something different…I just wish I knew how to fins out.

It can’t be Voltron as many people are speculating because Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) is already in the process of developing an as-yet-unamed Voltron movie

Has anyone ever noticed the trail leading from the Statue of Liberty towards the City? And also, I just noticed this one, but go to the 1-18-08 site (the one with pics from the party) and when you are dragging the photos back and forth, do it quickly to each picture. Like, jerk your mouse really fast and the picture you are dragging flips over, and on a couple of them, there is writing on the backs of the photos.
