"I Am Legend" is a movie with Will Smith, that looks a lot like "28 days later" and is based on a great novel, meaning people can have opinions about it, even before there's any promotion. On the other hand, o one knows what to expect about "Cloverfield". Maybe it will change after JJ speaks at ComicCon, but until then, hype survives. IMO what makes the "Cloverfield" hype bigger is the fact no one was really expecting it and no one is really sure about what it will turn into. In the end this could be a great movie or a major flop (ok, but in this area nothing beats "Waterworld: ). IMO what makes the “Cloverfield” hype bigger is the fact no one was really expecting it and no one is really sure about what it will turn into.
