Medellin Movie Trailer Released

Medellin

I recently became addicted to the HBO hit series Entourage. One of Vincent Chase’s (the main character on the show) dream projects is a Pablo Escobar epic biopic. The film within the show is going to the Cannes Film Festival, and HBO has released a faux theatrical movie trailer for Medellin. HBO has also created a nice teaser website for the fake film, which can be viewed at MedellinTheFilm.com. Too bad it’s not a real film, because it’s certainly a great idea. Am I the only one interested in seeing a real life Medellin? Probably not. Someday we’ll probably see Escobar’s story on the big screen. Joe Carnahan has been trying to adapt Killing Pablo for quite some time now. Meanwhile, you can check out the trailer for Medellin after the jump.

  • This is a movie that should be made and would be very successful. When i heard that they were showing a trailer 2night it made wonder if they made it, but then i figured out it was just for the show. i wish they would made it.

Movie coming out in 2009 about "Escobar" its in the works.
  • So is it really a fake or what?
  • Medellin the movie is fake. Just like Aquaman, Leverage Management, which is

the Entourage production company, goes to extra lengths to make the

Entourage movies as realistic as possible and fit seamlessly with real-life

    Hollywood.

looks like ha gained a couple of kilos... haven't seen the newest episodes so i'm not quite up to date, but did he gain weight on the show or is it just props?
  • wattman
Haha great stuff. Billy Walsh directing it? What will the next season bring :)

Diesel: Props to make Pablo look real instead of skinny Vincent.
  • It would be cool for it to be real if it actually looked good and not a horrible scarface ripoff. The clips/trailer for Medellin make it look pretty god awful to me.
  • If you watch the show, you saw the trailer last week. Too bad they didn't make the real movie.. even if they just put it online.

I would really like to see Wahlberg make Medellin "the movie". However, based
on the trailer and if they would ever consider doing it, I would like to see a more realistic movie. Medellin "the city" is actually very modern, it's full with hot
babes that makes L.A. look bad. Trust me on this one I was there and I had
the most fun I've ever had at any city in the US. The clubs are spectacular and
the people are very nice "except for Pablo" well he is dead fortunately. It's
nothing like HBO's Entourage depicts it; the burro and chickens on the street.
    It's absolutely nothing like that.

No Medellin movie? I've been searching everywhere for the trailer since I saw it on entourage. Very dissapointed that it won't be a movie. I'm willing to petition entourage company to make this happen, preventing future teasers. Bianca, I don't agree that this looks like a scarface ripoff. scarface was 70's and Escobar was 80's. Escobar owning Columbia by the balls at one point, brings the greed home, envigorating the want for passion, wealth, and power. Sure it's got it's similar scarface moments, but escobar was the REAL THING. In THE END ... ALL YOU GOT IS YOUR FAMILY.

It would be a great movie .... comparable to the KingPin series.

let's petition this. Email me: lbologna@hotmail.com ... if we get enough PPL entourage company may develop what they already have.

    How much did scarface make?
  • Bianca
    Luca -

First of all - the comparison i was making to Scarface was based on basic similarities between the two. There really is no doubt that Scarface was an influence of the look and style of the Medellin trailer. And in general, they both center around Columbian drug lords and put more stock in grand shoot-out scenes and profanity than plot. Keep in mind i take no issue with either shoot-outs or profanity, but in regards to Scarface, it is a vacant, overrated, piece of trash movie. And Medellin looks like it no doubt took all it's cues from the Scarface model.

Second - Scarface does indeed take place in the 80's. It may be 1980 but the 80's nonetheless.

Finally, I'm not a studio executive nor am I a producer. How much a movie can potentially make is of absolutely no concern to me. Crap is crap even if it dominates the box office. I mean c'mon ... look at Ghost Rider.

    :)

scarface was about a cuban exile not a colombian and did take place in teh 80s because he comes over during the mariel boat lift in 1980 when castro opened the port of mariel to anyone who wanted to leave and sent lots of criminals and imprisoned opposiiton to the US to be rid of them

but you're right its obviously an influence of the fake trailer, gangster movies if theyre decent always are popular...they depict the american dream, making it big while beatign teh system and quite obviously violence sells big in movies
  • Pablo
I think is ridiculous to keep destroying the name and reputation of one of the most beautiful cities in the world, in order to fulfill the stupid appetite of some cocaine addicted Americans. Medellin is a beautiful city, full of excellent and hard working people and the most gorgeous women in the world.

I also want to give you some insight about Pablo. When he became a drug dealer, he was a senator in Colombia and was using the drug money to help poor people in Colombia. The United States felt that he was a threat to the American economy (Too many dollars were going to the south) and decided to blackmail the Colombian government into capturing Pablo (that is why he became a fugitive and assassin).

I'm not justifying his killings, but you need to understand that in Colombia we don't have a drug problem like North America and Europe. Pablo was selling a product with huge demand in the foreign market and was making a lot of money. I understand that some people die when consuming cocaine, but in my country many people die consuming American cigarettes and alcohol and that is not illegal. THE PROBELM IS NOT THE PRODUCERS IS THE CONSUMERS.
  • Roberto
Seriously dude, try doing some fact checking before posting for the world to see.
  • jackstraw98
i dont think making a movie about escobar necessarily destroys the image of medellin, i mean he was a real person its not a made up story...having said that though the image of colombia in the us in general isn't that great because of pablo and cocaine and its a reputation that exists not because of a movie. i'm not saying its fair or right but its true

id agree with the rest of what you say tho, i dont know much about escobar but the US market has fed drug production forever and our involvement in colombia has not been for the benefit of the people as has been the case in the whole region and we're building military bases there now prolly to undermine and possible take out chavez.
  • I know that this is a "fake" trailer, but the fakeness of it just adds more to the negative image that the rest of the world, specially Hollywood have about my country Colombia...I know you guys love cocaine... but you guys ridicule the country that has it the worst due to the USA's addiction to cocaine...

the spanish spoken here is so gringo... next time you make a "fake" trailer.. at least do some research...I personally take offense by Hollywood's portrayal of Colombia.... don't be so ignorant PLEASE!!
  • MARIO
I THINK...HOLLYWOOD AND HBO ...HAVE ALSO CREATED THE WORST AND MOST RIDICULOUS FILMS ABOUT COLOMBIA IN THIS CASE "MEDELLIN" IS NOT THE EXCEPTION
  • sank
    colombia sucks.

a drug dealer is STILL a drug dealer, whether or not they use the money to feed poor kids anyway.

    cheers,
    sank

  • felipe uribe
Horrible. The actor doesn't look, speak or act as escobar at all. The story itself doesn't depict what really happened. It looks like a cheap, exaggerated film from low budget movie makers on stuff happening in mexico.
  • Hate to the gringos!
All of you are so dumb, yeah let's see the pablos escobar's movie (pablo escobar (a.k.a. the monster in medellin)), medellĂn now is one of the best cities of south america, let the motherfuckers that have bring destruction and slain to the world out of our screens

And if this movie is out it will be a crash, cuz he doesn't speak any english he speaks like a stupid Gringo de mierda!
  • Hate to the gringos!
Osama bin laden is to the gringos as pablo escobar is to colombia, so have a little respect dregheads (gringos)
