The new layout of the site will be like the preset layout for Flash animation. Which is usually nice to look at. It seems like after LOTR and POTC and Troy and 300, I've been all epic-ed out. This didn't look as if it could compete.

history geek:

i hear what you're saying and i see that this movie is not a history lesson but lets not say that any archaeological linage is proven fact, alright? it's all theory and conjecture. all science is based on theory and proven to "work" until something gets in the way, even theory of relativity.

i haven't read this book but it proves there is a "knowledge filter":

http://www.amazon.com/Forbidden-Archeology-Unabridged-Michael-Cremo/dp/0892132949/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-5237218-8462029?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1191620083&sr=8-1

say what you will using darwinian theories, but it's a theory - period. personally i prefer the idea that stirs the imagination, whether or not it's a film directed by this shmoe.

To iProtestant:

Yes the period is an interesting one, but after watching this trailer I feel fairly confident in my knowledge of history to say this will be a fantasy action flick rather than any close to a historal epic of sorts.

And about the Sphinx, you should check your sources. So far the people that believe the Sphinx is older than 3-4,000 years old have yet to rewrite the books.

A friend once said people tend to give themselves too much credit for "knowing" I would add whether that be less or more, the truth has forever escaped us yet in other ways continually revealing.

In regards to this movie a couple short summaries come to mind from seeing this trailer:

Madmax meets Mastodons

or

The Ice age Egyptian answer to Mel's "Apocalypto"

Seriously Whoolies and pyramids??? So that's how they were built! Doh! But I really hope this is some other lost civilization, because for the Epipaleolithic era Nile region probably wasn't a desert in 10,000 BC.

And if the locals speak english that kills it for me, even the Discovery channel can come up with decent actors who speak cave man... all in all it looks like this film maker as a long way to go to top Quest for Fire (1982)

oooo...looks interesting.

a period of history that has always made me wonder how civilized was mankind. i know 'experts' proclaim there was never any data to support an antediluvian civilization but the sphinx has been dated to at least 10-13,000 years old.

so anyhoo, this should be fun.

Perhaps they delayed it to polish VFX?
BTW, the trailer is badass, even if totally strange. Hopefully, it'll be superior to Emmerich's previous dud.

I love how one of Roland Emmerich's magnum opuses(?) isn't mentioned at the beginning of the trailer. Yep, I'm taking about the justifiably maligned remake of Godzilla. But hey, I dug the cornball cheesiness of Independence Day and the sheer ridiculosity (I know, made up word) of The Day After Tomorrow, so count me in.

The design layout of the site prevents it from being any wider. The good news is that our next design will probably allow for slightly bigger streaming movies. Right now it's 450 pixels wide (which is slightly bigger than youtube), and the next design might be around 550/600 wide,

Is there any way /Film could make these trailer streams bigger? Yeah, I know I can just go to Yahoo Movies most of the time but I like watching them from the stream here on the site. But they're so dang small!

Saw this at a screening last night. Seems a lot like Apocalypto with some 300 & Troy thrown in for good
measure. Very little character development. One tribe raids another tribe to be used for slave labor. The
remaining ones decide to follow the raiding party & rescue their friends. Also there's a little love story
going on, but for the whole part it didn't work for me. My 13 year old son and his 4 friends enjoyed it, I must be the wrong target audience. :)

Effects were about 50% completed. Music sounded good, the effects when completed should look cool,
but that doesn't necessarilly make a good movie.
