The teaser trailer for the top secret JJ Abrams produced monster movie Cloverfield can now be watched at this link. The movie which is code-named Cloverfield, is a big New York Monster movie from the perspective of a small group of people with consumer video cameras. Produced by JJ Abrams (Lost, Alias), directed by Matt Reeves (Felicity) and written by Drew Goddard (Lost, Alias), the film is being shot for around $30 million. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on January 18th 2008.

It could still be Godzilla - it could be taking the american version along the lines of the Japanese series. The monster attacking could be the ‘bad guy’ and Godzilla could be the ‘good guy’ ;) I thought I heard a very Godzillaish roar in the background.

It seems like it could be godzilla film, which would be cool since the american one didn’t do the japanese series enough justice (i mean come on, Godzilla is the good guy in most of the films), but you pay enough attention, the roaring noise does NOT sound anything like godzilla in the us or jap version, my mom said she thought it sounded more like gamera.
however, all the info I’ve read on the movie at movieweb adn imdb does not make it out to be a remake of a classic japanese moster film, but then again this movie is hollywoods biggest kept secret… beisdes if it isn’t its proberly at least inspired by them (the line that stuck out in my mind was that the kid Rob is going away to Japan)… I don’t know, it just looks really awesome, and if anyone find a high quality version of the trailer, please let us know!

Pete, sorry to hear about Paramount stepping in and asking you to delete the trailer from Slashfilm.com. Something thumps the roof, then they hear the roar. Then, they go outside and the large explosion rises in the distance. Then you have the throwing of objects, etc. It’s not Gears of War, because New Line Cinema purchased the rights to that and Paramount is doing this film (unless they are working in collaboration). Whatever it is, I can’t wait to find out more. Even if nothing more is realeased before the movie comes out, I will go see it just to see what is going on. My vote, Godzilla or something with Dragons, but Reign of Fire was a good movie about dragons, so I don’t know why they would re-invent the wheel.

Ok -
1 - This is a voltron movie but a sinister version maybe fighting another beast like creature.
2 - the sounds is clealy electric/robotic
3 - the head of the statue of liberty seem to be sliced off not ripped off = a sword
4 - pharrell of the neptunes has been working on a voltron soundtrack for like 3 years now.

I don’t think this is voltron or godzilla that just seems to simple. I heard somewhere that Lost producers had mentioned the possibility of Lost movie as a tie-in to the shows finale. However isn’t Lost suposed to be 5 or 6 seasons long? Lost has only just concluded its 3rd season, which means it still has at least a couple years left, who knows. One things for sure though, the roar in the trailer definetly sounded a lot like the roars from the thing in Lost and how about the giant monster like footprint in Lost. In any case I dont think this movie is about voltron or godzilla.
And by the way the man in the trailer defenitly doesn’t say “I saw it, it’s a lion, it’s huge” but I don’t think he says “I saw it, it’s alive, it’s huge”. I mean why would he say “it’s alive”, no duh it’s alive; it is roaring and destroying everything after all. Alright I just went and saw Transformers again and just to put this to rest the say “I just saw it, its alive, Its huge!” That’s what they say I don’t care what you say I’m right. Secondly though I highly doubt it’ll be Voltron. The whole hand held camera thing is going to detract from that. It has a whole other feeling about it and they wouldn’t combine that with Voltron. I doubt it’ll be Godzilla too, I think its just going to be a monster named The Parasite. But for sure not Voltron. It just wouldn’t make sense.

I’m not sure if any of you have checked the other posts about this but going to ethanhaaswaswrong.com and reading the site and comments. There is a post writen in Sanskirt that translated, roughly comes out to be the chant the people in H.P. Lovecraft’s book chanted about Chtulu. Chtulu was supposedly a huge creature , God of the Damned. That was resting, presumably dead. It looked like a dragon, squid, human hybrid mixed into ugly proportions of each.
Now given the parasite comments, and the way Chtulu looks, remember the parasite was said to take the shape of other creatures (note: this was only mentioned not in a comment somewhere not a confirmed report). To me it seems logical to assume that Abrams might have gotten the chance to make a Lovecraft.
Just a thought.

The movie it’s called INHUMANOIDS. The monster arrived on NYC it’s none other than Metlar. If you watch the Inhumanoids cartoons in the late 80’s you’ll know who metlar is.

Man it kinda creeps me out i’ve had a few nightmares about this sort of thing.. I live in England and i’ve dreamt of this organic alien (in the respects it’s not known to man) thing attacking New York but it was weird they weer like these giant sea creatures and nothing could stop them. There were tidal waves and everything they just completely stormed New York, unstoppable and HUGE.
So seeing this thing gives me goosebumps. It takes a lot to give me goosebumps from a horror movie but i believe this one just might.
I just pray to god it’s not Godzilla or anything of that stuff i want something original and genuinely scary that doesn’t get killed off by a lame-ass sneeze lol.

I don’t think the girls in the picture are one girl - two different skin colors. In looking at the eyes, when you look at the shape of the light, it looks like it is glowing eyes of some sort. It reminds me of the old glowing-eyed Godzilla. They look square with a space in between. I can’t make out anything else though. I think this trailer is ingenious.

The reflections in the eyes will be two neon strip lights from the tiny room the photo was taken in 8-)… I mean, I know I’ve done the whole RP thing with the arg, but sometimes there are limits to what a PR company will do… I refuse to believe they would photoshop a monster into the eyes on a publicity photo such that the image is less than 2 mm in entirity and is very blurry and unobvious… it’s really not hard to apply logic… and please, it’s not the same face, the mouth arches are different and so are the eyebrow…

Yes it’s all fine and well for those people calling others spoilt but how many of you have actually seen the trailer hmmm?
Man i love it when people are so curious that everything is a clue from their hair to their eyes to being the same person. Maybe the girl on the right looks scary because her mascara is running.. People tend to have a little tear work when they’re terrified of something it’s human nature.
Now the thing that gets me is, both women seem to be looking at 2 different things so either this thing is REALLY huge or it’s bad acting (which i doubt) or the girl on the right is looking at something else. Her eye seems to be looking more to the left (from their perspective) than the girl on the right of her. I will admit that the girl on the right (in the party picture) does look kinda sinister looking to me but again i’m not going to start speculating that it has anything to do with the mystery of the movie.

Well I saw the trailer during Transformers, which to say the least was very dissapointing. Being a film major, and hopefully going into Hollywood very soon…I feel that its going to be a single monster. Maybe its something we’ve seen before, maybe it isn’t. I would doubt its Voltron because its being produced by someone else, and after Godzilla 98′ flop, I doubt anyone would produce a sequel or remake, since there probably would be no hopes of recouping that money back. It’s probably some new monster, and the handheld aspect seems pretty cool. Can’t wait for a teaser that won’t be taken down, they should let trailers be trailers, obviously people want to see it…

I’d place a safe bet that this movie is original, not a remake of anything vaguely familiar. Too much mystery to be a “Surprise! It’s a Voltron movie”. I’d be SO disappointed, probably along with millions of others. Godzilla would be even worse.
Keep a mind open for something you probably haven’t heard of or seen monsterwise. Though, I side with bobtheinsane.
The plot, to my guess, is this so far:
The monster is an apocalyptic monster, awakening from his slumber. Van is a surviving military officer or whatever and he’s gathering as many as he can for the world to unite against this demon.
Think about where the world is today. Wouldn’t it be time for a “Let’s unite as a planet and stop the apocalyptic monster!” movie?
Then again, it seems most of the setting takes place in NYC, so there’s more.
Just my opinion.

I feel sorry for the people who posted them on it because they get their accounts deleted. It happened to me once when i posted a clip of something.. Maybe they listened to my lengthy complaint:
“If you pull my video for infringing copyright then you should pull all copyright infringements from the site. If you feel that you cannot do so then you shouldn’t have it in your rules. Don’t make rules that you can’t enforce and don’t expect everybody to obide by them either. There is a LOT of copyrighted material on YouTube yet you ignore it and remove random peoples videos. It makes me wonder what sort of people check out the videos before allowing them onto the public system. Almost sounds like an automated system and that isn’t very good enforcement.”

Alright well look its something to do with Cthulu. But you guys should REALLLY check out Ethanhaaswasright.com, the site is giving us a key, like a language key in one of the stars. This is getting awesome. It also shows some alien looking ship that fell into the ground and then split open, which is a pretty good giveaway on what the monster is. Just letting you know.

Stop, stop, stop, stop. Enough with the speculating and wishful predictions, etc. Ok, I’m going to put all of this to rest and tell you exactly what film this trailer was made for. I happen to know for a fact that this is a trailer for an American remake of “The Host”, a horror film out of South Korea also known as “Gwoemul”. The production date they released to the public (July 5th I believe?) is not in fact the actual date that shooting began, and was meant to throw everyone off because it seems of course far too short a time for a 30 million picture to be completed by and released on January 18th, 2008. The footage you see in this trailer was shot seperately and was created especially for use in the preview, and may or may not end up in the final cut of the film. This is why the main character is going to Japan, which is just South East of South Korea, the country of origin for “The Host”, and this is also why a shot begins specifically and intentionally on several rows od Sushi in the middle of the trailer which you can clearly see. I hope that this will allow everyone to sleep at ease tonight. Once again, this is quite simply a trailer (albeit a clever one) for the American remake of the foreign horror film, “The Host”. End of story. Just trust me on this one my friends.

Alright dammit this Voltron bullshit has gone too far. First of all it wouldn’t make sense to advertise a kid show adaptation in a scary dark trailer. Second the handheld part of it doesn’t fit at all. Thirdly, guess what, the Voltron movie is being produced by Mark Gordon, Pharell Williams, Mark Costa, and Frank Oelman none of which are JJ Abrams. Oh and by the way the way the Voltron movie is going to be animated!!! Jesus!

OK…I agree with Brock…face it people wut ever this thing is its huge ok…HUGE…something or somewhat capable of ripping the statue of libetys head off…and then the roaring sounds…which sound somewhat like the american version of godzilla…i’m not trying to say that its godzilla…to this point so far there is no STRONG evidence of wut the crap this monster could be…all i want form the chaos that “CLOVERFILED” has created is that i hope this movie would be WORTH THE WAIT.

If you look at the part where they’re standing on the roof and you see a big ball of flame hit the new york skyline. after that the camera pans up and you can see two red cirles. one looks like an eye and the other looks like a nostrel breathing a flame

This movie looks to be about the awakening of Cthulhu (pssibly even His rebirth, because as all Mythos fans know, He is the son of his own daughter, reproducing every few hundred thousand years or so.) and this could be about the war with the elder gods against man (not really war, more like the slaughtering and eternal torture of ever human being on earth)
Wait til Titus Crow comes and kicks some tentacled ass.
All I know is if this is a cthulhu movie, and if pulled off right, all horror movies will be pretty dull and dreary compared to this. Supposeldy if you see him, you will tear your own eyes out, and if you hear his language, it drives men to insanity. Alittle on the scary side.

MIKE! Studios make deals all the time to sell and acquire the rights to projects. Yes, Universal acquired the rights to The Host remake back in late October. But do you really believe that means they couldn’t sell the rights to Paramount in that time since? Of course, big studios usually announce their acquisition of projects publicly for the obvious reason of letting everyone know what is coming and to create some buzz, etc. But in this case, I am telling you that it was done under the radar in confidentiality for the purpose of keeping everyone guessing and thus generating even more confusion and buzz. And it has of course worked like a charm because you will not find any evidence that tells us that Paramount in fact DID acquire the rights to the Host remake before February 1st of this year. That’s all I’m going to say. You will soon come to see all of these facts come to surface some time in September, or possibly sooner if more individuals involved get bored and deccide to leak it. THE HOST.

I agree Mike. The Host was pretty lame. This remake should be much better as the story is quite different and focuses much more on the fun of a monster movie and much less on the policits that made the original Host a piece of crap.

I agree with JOSE. The whole end of the world thing has been done to death, but the world never actually gets destroyed in those movies. The only ones that come close are Titan AE or Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but both of those movies still end on a happy note. I want to see total and utter aniahlation of the world, no mercy, no happy ending, Book of Revelations style. I mean wouldn’t it be cool if this was just the first movie and the “monster†or whatever it is just starts at NYC, but eventually destroys the whole world. Now THAT would be something new. I’m not very good with the whole biblical theory crap, does anyone know anything that can help.

guys, don’t loose sight of the hand held camera…unless the trailer is what people have been saying and its just for previews sake and to get us all crazy and shit….
also, most/I> people will only see this as a trailer and not go as crazy as we are investigating it—leak or no leak, this thing is gonna be huge and I’m sure the studios have gag orders and legally-binding contracts for all those associated with production…
Since Abrams is producing this, also remember that he’s obsessed with prophecy and stuff..Alias, Lost…for all we know a monster could only be a part of this movie

according to nightowl3090, on youtube in his little video, he says that paramount doesn’t have the rights to make a godzilla movie so thats a good sign for all of us who do not want to see another godzilla movie, at least not now.

Have u guys ever wondered that it might not be a creature from Mythology or from the Bible.
I’ve been doing some research and Ive come to the conclusion that it might be the remake of a movie called, The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. Their are so many hints that this might be the monster.
1. The Monster rose a few miles off the coast of New York.
2. The Monster rose 20,000 fathoms under the arctic.
3. On the Slusho website They make refrences to sea creatures and the fact
that it said Ganu found a Deep Sea ingredient unique to anything else.
It also said he had to serve the drink in a near frozen state to preserve its freshness.
4. JJ also put a comment on this website stating that he gave many clues about the movie. He also made a statement “The One and Only”.
Reffering to to The monster Rhedosaurus. As a result of the first atomic Bomb,
he was able to thaw out of the ice.
5.Also the monster(As seen on the videos on youtube) was able to rip things
apart with his hands and teeth. So Rhedosaurus could be the one throwing the statue of liberties head in the trailer.
6. the movie also takes place in Coney Island were Rhedosaurus met his defeat.

I know that the website, EthanHaasWasRight.com, dosent relate to the movie but
Havent u noticed the Guy at the end of the movie trailer look somewhat alike, to
the man giving the messages on The EthanHaasWasRight.com.
Its just a hunch though. But I also matched voices and they also sound the same.
Also doesn’t the man at the end of the movie trailer and the man from EHWR.com
have the same beard. Starting from the side burns and ending, down at the chin, coming over his upper lip.

Joseph, maybe you weren’t paying attention when Abrams said this is NOT a remake, and this a is a totally new monster. Quit speculating about it being something you already know. He says you DON’T know this new monster. God some people are too dense and should stop wasting my air.
