I'm reading everywhere that it's some kind of "parasite" monster, so maybe something that takes it's form from other animals??? Ala the Gryphon from Jan DeBonts 1994 Godzilla. Who knows. But this is honestly the most interesting movie to come out in years.

i just read in a creature corner artical......the actual name is not cloverfield but a code name used....and intrestingly enough as this sounds...the exact words in one sentence said...jj abrams has had meetings with people from toho.....evryone knows who and what toho owns.....enough said.....

I agree with DTr0n, i hope its not a godzilla thing because the whole godzilla genre in min my opinion has been destroyed by modern cinema. But I agree with Joe in the sense that this will be the most interesting film in years.

It could still be Godzilla - it could be taking the american version along the lines of the Japanese series. The monster attacking could be the 'bad guy' and Godzilla could be the 'good guy' ;) I thought I heard a very Godzillaish roar in the background.
BTW - they definately say 'It's alive, it's huge'. Nothing about a lion.

It seems like it could be godzilla film, which would be cool since the american one didn't do the japanese series enough justice (i mean come on, Godzilla is the good guy in most of the films), but you pay enough attention, the roaring noise does NOT sound anything like godzilla in the us or jap version, my mom said she thought it sounded more like gamera.
however, all the info I've read on the movie at movieweb adn imdb does not make it out to be a remake of a classic japanese moster film, but then again this movie is hollywoods biggest kept secret... beisdes if it isn't its proberly at least inspired by them (the line that stuck out in my mind was that the kid Rob is going away to Japan)... I don't know, it just looks really awesome, and if anyone find a high quality version of the trailer, please let us know!

That'd be so cool if it was War of the Monsters! (A Ps2 game as I know so far, but that's what came in my mind with the trucks and everything being thrown around)

Its gears of war.. maybe. ITS VOLTRON... maybe.

Gears of War would be sweet, it could be Half-Life maybe, or whatever. But look at all the video game based movies, they sucked. but what if the movie is about dragons. Think about it, large flames, giant roar, it could be but probally not. But for the past 12 hours i haven't been able to find out anything more then what I already knew. Pete, sorry to hear about Paramount stepping in and asking you to delete the trailer from Slashfilm.com. Doesn't make much sense to me, especially since you're providing them with cost-free marketing for an upcoming film. They really don't get it, do they? They should be working with you, not against you.

Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

all I have to say, is this is the most genius thing I've seen in a trailer.

if you look at the picture closely on http://www.1-18-08.com/ you will see a creature like thing, possible robotic judging by the color, but it looks very interesting, and probally now leading towards a godzilla type film

Very true, but with it being so scret we will have to wait for a long time to findout. Now alive, and huge rules out robots, or metal entity, so an animal/creature, that can apparently breave fire, if not godzilla, then maybe a dragon movie

Something thumps the roof, then they hear the roar. Then, they go outside and the large explosion rises in the distance. Then you have the throwing of objects, etc. It's not Gears of War, because New Line Cinema purchased the rights to that and Paramount is doing this film (unless they are working in collaboration). Whatever it is, I can't wait to find out more. Even if nothing more is realeased before the movie comes out, I will go see it just to see what is going on. My vote, Godzilla or something with Dragons, but Reign of Fire was a good movie about dragons, so I don't know why they would re-invent the wheel.

Reign of Fire makes sense, they did a Europe based movie, so it makes sense to do one from Americas point of view

it could be..... Gozokie or one of the baby's from the 1st gozilla movie that somehow survived....i dunno, i really hope not. although i would like the ideal more of a prequel to reign of fire that i heard some1 mention.

I agree with mat, a prequel would be good because reign of fire was good and they could do so much with that genre, and sense its all one video camera it has the blair witch feel to it

Ok -

1 - This is a voltron movie but a sinister version maybe fighting another beast like creature.

2 - the sounds is clealy electric/robotic

3 - the head of the statue of liberty seem to be sliced off not ripped off = a sword

4 - pharrell of the neptunes has been working on a voltron soundtrack for like 3 years now.
he told my frined the movie is coming soon.......i like in virginiabeach and went to school with those dudes.

I don't think this is voltron or godzilla that just seems to simple. I heard somewhere that Lost producers had mentioned the possibility of Lost movie as a tie-in to the shows finale. However isn't Lost suposed to be 5 or 6 seasons long? Lost has only just concluded its 3rd season, which means it still has at least a couple years left, who knows. One things for sure though, the roar in the trailer definetly sounded a lot like the roars from the thing in Lost and how about the giant monster like footprint in Lost. In any case I dont think this movie is about voltron or godzilla.
And by the way the man in the trailer defenitly doesn't say "I saw it, it's a lion, it's huge" but I don't think he says "I saw it, it's alive, it's huge". I mean why would he say "it's alive", no duh it's alive; it is roaring and destroying everything after all. I think what he realy says is "I saw it, in the light, it's huge" it does make more sense you know, especialy with the explosions going on and stuff.

It's NOT Gears of War. Gears takes place on planet Cera a diffrent world. This movie takes place on Earth in NYC.
