well, being a 20 year old skater from canada i've broken many bones and had to undergo surgery on my back.... im not from a wealthy home and i have debt from college.... without socialized medicare i wouldnt be here.. its not the greatest but IT ACCEPTS ANYONE> no one is ever just given a band-aid and told to go home.. i recieved respectible medicare and comfort while i was at the hospital for 9 days after my surgery, yet i did have to pay 250$ for my stay at the hospital, it included all the pain reliver i had to recieve and saved me the hundred thousand i woulda had to pay.. taxes arent even bad, and with ur population in the states it would not be something significant at all, and it would help many many people and probably you someday.. moore may be ugly, overweight, and loud, but comes with a strong issue

Like I said, I do want to see it. But how will we PAY for socialized health care? Hell, Social Security will be bankrupt by the time I get there and I'm in my mid-40s.

And I already pay enough money in stinking taxes.

Um, yeah I think you should see it. He does delve into the down sides of a socialized healthcare system, and the word of mouth-spread-bad-stories. And I hate to tell you this but, anyone with any common sense at all can tell you anything better then what you currently have, should be what you have. Nothing is perfect in the world, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything better.
Stories are often biased, actually they are mostly biased with an agenda in mind. Not only that but companies actually hire people to write stories promoting one system and degrade another system.
The fact of the matter is, we need to have socialized health care in the country and that is just one step in rebuilding are already diminished democracy.

I'll be the first to say that the health insurance industry in the U.S. if F*$CKED, but sociallized medicine is just NOT the answer. Even though I believe you when you say this is the most (relatively) balanced of Moore's films (I've read the same elswhere). I am quite sure he didn't show the downside of health care in those other countries.

I've read the stories of people in Canada paying veterinarians on the side to use their MRI machines at night because there are months-long waits to get a scan via a conventional method. I've also heard stories about the long, LONG waits for procedures in places like the U.K. Heck, my own father (who passed away a few years ago) had a walnut sized tumor that was discovered by his local physician. He had to wait over half a year to have it removed and because of that by the time they got to it, it was the size of a stinking grapefruit!

One also needs to look at the economies and levels of taxation in these countries that offer all these wonderful social programs. Weak economy plus very high taxes is generally what you'll find.

Still, I'm looking forward to seeing this one and hissing at the screen myself. :-)
