Did you know: Before director Brad Bird took over production of Pixar’s Ratatouille, the film went under a couple different titles: “Rat!” or “Rats!” Above we bring you two of the title concept designs courtesy of Pixar’s new hardcover coffee table book, The Art of Ratatouille [via: JH].

50 bucks says more people would be interested if it were called Rats. Ratatouille is a horrible name.

I would have to disagree. Ratatouille sounds much more sophisticated, and does, in itself, represent the main character’s rat origin slowly combining with his love for French delicacies. Besides, Pixar has built its foundation around originality, and such a reputation preceeds even into the TITLES of their films. When was the last time you saw a film with the same title as a Pixar animation? Never, you say? Yeah, me neither.
