Everybody that didn't like the movie is entitled to their opinions but damn you guys are getting it all wrong. I've played every single Hitman game and I love and support the franchise but you sound like those nerds that talk about how the superhero movies don't stick to the story of the comic books. Well the plain and simple fact is that every movie is going to be based on a unique script written by some really imaginative people who bring the characters to life. They may not always go by the game or comic book that they are based on but we should all be so lucky to have them make movies like this and no matter how good it is they can't make everybody happy. As far as comic books...they died 50 years ago, I don't read those boring things and nobody else I know reads them. As far as the game...people like you guys are the reason they're likely not going to make another one. Hitman crashed in box office records so they are probably not going to make a great sequal like my nephew and I hoped. If we're lucky they'll do what they did with the Hulk and get a second chance to make a great movie.

I watched this movie 4 times and still hate to return the film -- i enjoyed it sooo much that I am hoping for at least a few more sequels, also starring Timothy Olyphant.

Ha! Ha! Lighten up a little Robyn! 1. I am not an entertainer, and would certainly make a poor one at that. 2. It's okay that you choose to not have a nice day. I hope it for you anyway.
Love and peace to you, my friend !

Yeah; Jason Statham may have been good for the movie also. But Timothy Olyphant did superbly for the role of 47. After the movie,as I was reading the credits,I found much to my surprise, that Vin Diesel was the Executive Producer or Director of this movie. Many thought he might well play a good 47. He opted out of the lead role as 47,to be in an even more important part of the film as it's dir.or pro.exe. He and the whole staff did a great job on this film.
As to the order of how the 'Hitman' series comes. The first is,'Hitman: Codename 47', the second is 'Hitman 2',the third is 'Hitman' Contracts, the latest is 'Hitman' Blood money.
I have not played the Codename 47 but will pick it up,since I do have the 'Hitman Trilogy' package already. Just want the whole series, because the games do have a pretty good story in them,in the small cutscenes.
     Hope this helps! Good day!

Wow what a great movie although i do think Jason Statham would make a better agent 47 but timothy Olyphant did a great job. I to am a major video game player the movie was relatively true to the ideas of the game I also agree that video games based on movies and vice versa do not make vary good film and if any one knows what order in story do the hitman games take place i belive it is blood money, contracts, silent assassin not sure

Hello to both of you,rOnin and Tristan, and to all others!

One question. Did you like the movie?
Considering movies that were made off of video games,Do you give it a thumbs up,or thumbs down?
rOnin I read that you had concerns as to whether the movie would follow closely to the games story.
Tristan,If I did not misunderstand you,you were a bit preturbed at how everyone was dicing up the movie trailer, without maybe giving it a chance to be seen.
As it turns out Tristan, you were very right. This was a pretty good movie, compared to some of the other crappy movies taken off a video game ideology. It was indeed 'Sweet'! Action from the very get go,and the movie kept you into the story. It does run a little parallel to 'Bourne Identity' does'nt it? But without the romantic concerns.
rOnin,I would think that if you have not seen the movie,by all means,do go see it. I think all your concerns might be a pleasant surprise to you. Except for a few small things, the film was in context, and the concept of the game itself. I liked it,and will buy it when it comes out for sale.
I realize there may be others who may not think so much of the movie.
But if you like action in your movies.with a tinge of espionage under the hands of a professional assassin, then I don't think you'll be too disappointed.
                                      Good day!

r0nin,

Maybe the 'brutal and simple' like death for the primeval need for violance, and maybe you do.. But the sophisticated people for the incredible mental and physical fortitude to do that. Killing at an assassins level is an art, honed by thousands of years of human evolution. Everyone likes seeing The Alpha Kill sheep.

Well you can go ahead and look like an presumptuous ass then, 'cause I own the first two games. How is it being about NO 47 differant from being about a killer like Jason Bourne? You've got a government created super killer, and a privately created killer.. The Movie is, 'Hitman'...

There is a movie about tap dancing! About 10 years or more old though. Gregory Hines had the lead role in the movie.Forget the though,Sorry!
Also there's a movie with Penguins tap dancing. Actually a pretty good show, though geared for the young children; Everyone I know that's seen the movie, enjoyed it a great deal.
No; there are no real assassins like the character in the movie or the game.Remember Rob,these are fictional characters,in a fictional story.
Last time I looked,I've yet to see someone really go outside and tap dance and twirl an umbrella in the rain.If we do;we'd better call the white suits. "Singin in the Rain" is a fictional story as well. But a good one!
There's enough movies out there for everyones taste. Google "Tap dancing movies",and I'm quite sure you will find the kinds of films you do enjoy. Good day!

I had no idea a "Hitman" video game existed. By chance I have come across this website after watching a preview for the movie. Even without knowing the film was based off of a video game, it looks foolish. In fact, the preview almost implied that killing people who are considered evil is not morally incorrect in any way. Or perhaps I have completely misunderstood the entire thing. I'm just incredibly tired of bad movies. I miss movies like "Singin' In the Rain". Why don't we tap dance anymore?

Well Put...,!On all your concerns towards the production of this movie William. Since most all of us here have played the games of this intriguing character,we should already know I guess, that indeed 47 was created for political purposes.Else why would they create so many clones as we find at the beginning of the game in "Contracts",and again when 47 goes up against a clone in "Hitman 2"
Neo? You might well have a point. All in all, their creation was for political and security purposes.
47 is special though,as we see.Seems "The Agency" secures his services as the clone different from the rest. He does do political hits, but as we all know, those that have the funds to pay "The Agency" to take out some vile individuals in the drug markets,or in the sex and murder underworld...,these 47 will do as well, on the side.
In any case;Let us all grab a bag of popcorn and a cola, and enjoy this film at a theater or on our DVD's. However the film turns out...,it will still will be fun to watch.

Since most all of us here have played the games of this intriguing character,we should already know I guess, that indeed 47 was created for political purposes.Else why would they create so many clones as we find at the beginning of the game in “Contracts”,and again when 47 goes up against a clone in “Hitman 2″
Neo? You might well have a point. All in all, their creation was for political and security purposes.
47 is special though,as we see.Seems “The Agency” secures his services as the clone different from the rest. He does do political hits, but as we all know, those that have the funds to pay “The Agency” to take out some vile individuals in the drug markets,or in the sex and murder underworld…,these 47 will do as well, on the side.
In any case;Let us all grab a bag of popcorn and a cola, and enjoy this film at a theater or on our DVD’s. However the film turns out…,it will still will be fun to watch.

Oops, sent it too soon. Picking up where I left off...

He does usually get away with everything cleanly though, as we're intended to perform the missions with a nearly sterile record. There are some though that result in a shoot-out regardless of your effort and it concerns me that the trailer shows lots of non-stealthy moments, using only the sniper rifle for a sign of our silent assassin. I can't imagine the fiber wire not being used though so we'll see.

The love story could and probably will kill this movie though. His faint hint of feelings for Diana was enough in the game to give him sympathy without making him humane and I think that's the key - we never really are supposed to accept him as being like a regular person. He's got too much behind him to ever have a family or an average job, I don't think he even gets aroused except possibly by strangling someone.

Any moral points should come from his targets, who are almost always scum of the planet and the biggest way in which we are able to understand how 47 does what he does. The music and some of the scenes look promising but we'll see if the dialogue and story play out in a faithful manner.

I'm skeptical about this. Hitman is a great series, I was there playing the first one as soon as it was out. Contrary to what most think he does display tidbits of emotion in the games, and can seemingly co-operate fairly well. He also falls along the "good" side when possible. However his ruthlessness while operating is what's most important and they seem to have captured that part at least.

My main problem is with the love interest part, the fact that I didn't see him stealing anyone's outfit in the trailer (this HAS to be in for it to feel like 47) and also with some of the fighting. While it doesn't have to match the games by any means it still should follow some of the themes and in the games he does get hit fairly frequently. The thing is he's MORE than human and can continue to fight with several bullets in him, needing only to have them removed when he's done with the job. He's good but he's not always perfect... I'm afraid they're going to turn him into a bald Neo.

what in the world made you say that (to the writter). anyway, Olyphant looks younger compared to the 47 in the game. One more thing, i want to hear Olyphant's voice as 47. What do you think?

Your quite welcome,SamuraiMan! The very first composer to "Ave Maria" I am not sure of.But again google"History of Ave Maria" and I'm sure you will get a bevy of things to search on as to the history and Bio of the song.
On the game, A woman sings the song. Most every time I have heard it,it was by a woman. But I'm sure Bocelli probably sings it just as beautifully, maybe even Pavorrati. Ha! Every now on occasion I play it on my small piano.
Now one last thing. The brainchild to the music of the Hitman games is Jesper Kyd. He's done some music to some other games as well. But he likes to use the European orchestra,(Not sure on who they are.) and the Hungarian Radio Choir.I think his work is brilliant as to putting the music to fit the gaming and mood of the game.
Hope some of this helps. Have a good one!
