HitmanThe first movie trailer for 20th Century Fox’s big screen adaptation of the popular video game Hitman is now online. I’m not a big gamer, but have been around video games all my life. And making a feature film based on the Hitman concept seemed like a no-brainer. Most video games don’t have a good enough concept, never-mind story, which has resulted in many horrible feature films. That said, why am I getting the same awful feeling that I always get while watching bad video game adaptations? May-be it’s the cheesy titles that jump on screen. Am I wrong? Was I expecting too much? For the record, it’s not Uwe Boll quality bad - but definitely disappointing.

Check out the trailer after the jump. Note, the trailer will also be attached to Live Free or Die Hard. So if you would rather watch it on the big screen, you only need to wait a couple more days.

In the movie, Timothy Olyphant plays Agent 47, a professional assassin for hire, who is ensnared in a political conspiracy, which finds him pursued by both Interpol and the Russian military as he treks across Eastern Europe. hired by a group known as “The Agency” to kill targets for cash. Hitman is helmed by french director Xavier Gens. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on October 12th 2007.

Sadly I couldn’t agree more, I am an avid gamer and the idea of films being based off video games has always been mind numbing considering most writers for the games are often out of work film script writers.
Video games never make good movies, and movies rarely make good video games. It has always been a churned-out product both ways.

  2. Gravatar

it does not look good, but then again, it does not look bad, I have
played this game and the guy kinda ooks like the character, which is good,
but I will reserve judgement untill another trailer comes out, I might see
    this movie

  3. Gravatar

I do not share the pessimism. Although I too have reservations about this adaptation I think its a bit early to call it crap. This trailer is basically showing us nothing more than some explosions, and a couple of mugshots of the main protagonist. Both needed for at least the American public.

I think the “mood” of the game has been captured rather nicely in this trailer and I am looking forward to seeing it.

  4. Gravatar

It is obvious that you cannot get all the excitement in a movie you have in the game. The games take much more than 2 hours to play. But I am excited for the movie because I am a huge fan of all the Hitman games. If I compare the movie to the game yes it could not compare. But I am excited for the game because I am a fan and hoping the actor will not blow it.

  5. Gravatar

well its not that bad except for Timothy Olyphant face !! hes so babyface for
a hitman . but it seem they put everything in the game in the movie

  6. Gravatar

I think it looks pretty damn sweet, trailers are just supposed to create awareness.
Hitman isn’t even that big of a video game compared to the likes of Halo etc.
I think Olyphant looks pretty good bc he has no emotion, if it was some clown
that always looks like he’s thinking about something then it would be ruined.
I’m a fan of the games so I’m really excited to see this in action. They’ve
capture the atmosphere of the games perfectly. Looks sweet.

  7. Gravatar

Who ever wrote this article is full of bullshit! i actually think the trailer is really good and looks like the film shows promise. Although i do think olyphant doesnt quite look the part.

  8. Gravatar

Olyphant’s a great actor so if anyone can pull it off, he can.

  9. Gravatar

I hear that Vin Deasal was going to play the part but he was too large to play the
figure of agent 47. But when i saw this tralier it was like christmas and i cant wait to see the movie.

  10. Gravatar

I’ve never played the game so can’t base it on that frame of reference but what I can base it on is the trailer which looks pretty kick ass to me.

  11. Gravatar

You haven’t said anything in your writing as to why the Trailer doesn’t
impress…! Your headline says that it fails to impress but you don’t state
anything as to your oppinion why! It’s only a teaser trailer, the films not
even finished yet, I don’t think its write to have a moan until a proper
trailer comes out. I tend to agree with most of you though that the movie of
game thing going on is a little bit unreliable so not having many high hopes
for this one sadly as I enjoyed the game - let’s hope the next trailer give us
something to think about hey! You never know though, it could be a hit.

  12. Gravatar

I’m not impressed - I mean a love interest for Agent 47? The guy is a genetically engineered assassin for Christ sake! Also I think that from these initial shots Olyphant doesn’t have a vacant enough look about him, he looks like a kid out of Cocoon… I hope the final film is awsome tho, but this teaser doesn’t inspire much faith in me.

  13. Gravatar

What the crap did I just see? Was I watching the trailer to Hitman, or
was I listening to Opra? This trailer was cheesy, and could have included
more action scenes, some dialogue, and a faster pacing music peace rather than opra! This was just like the trailer for Live Free or Die Hard that was a
attached to Rise of the Silver Surfer. It had crummy music, and played
like a kiddy movie. I’ve never played the game, but I know it will be a
horrible flop just like Super Mario Brothers, Wing Commander, and
Mortal Combat. I didn’t even see any scenes, just abunch of locks
    and guns and words. Crummy.

  14. Gravatar

Optimus Prime you have no taste what-so-ever. According
to the storyline Hitman is a skilled assassin, not a damn
salsa dancer. The opera music really reflects his calm and
mythodical demeaner during his assassination missions. As
far as the rest of the concerns…yeah there’s a good chance
they will screw it up because they do that a lot with film adaptations
of anything whether it is a book, comic, or game. But, like a lot
of other people I am really excited to see this film after playing
    every Hitman game.

  15. Gravatar

That’s who Optimus is.He goes to every forum and taints it with his stupidity.Got some more crazy ideas Optimus?

  16. Gravatar

The Opra you’ve listened is actually present in the 4th game, so dont ever complain about that. Besides we didnt even listened to 47’s voice.

  17. Gravatar

I’ve never played the fourth game, I’ve played bit’s of the first. But I
wasn’t meaning listen to 47’s voice, I mean someone elses voice. Sorry
if I made all of you mad. Gosh…….

  18. Gravatar

Comment on the “crappy music”. That song is called Ave Maria, which is a song
that’s probably older than all of us put together. Originally it is written and sang
in Latin, translated it is roughly the Hail Mary. So I’d say it fit pretty good, seeing
as they also used it in Hitman Blood Money.

I personally finished reading the script today, and Woods did an excellent job.
Its 127 pgs, so it will have a decent runtime, and its packed full of Hitman
type action we all enjoy form the games. Also, Genes is a European director,
so the movie won’t wreak too much of Hollywood stench. It would be hard to mess
this one up, the movie’s laid out and Genes just needs to execute.

  19. Gravatar

the music is fine, this is because it is in one of the games, but it does not tie in with the scenes showed. And yes, i also wanted to hear what the voice of 47 would sound like. this is because it is a very important part of how the movie should be displayed and i dont think it is displayed and portrayed very well. It seems more like a trailer for “the Transporter 2″ or some lame action film like that.

The voice of 47 may unjustify my answer a little, and trailers for movies never do me justice, but i still stick by what i have said at the moment.

Also note that in all the games he never falls in love or even thinks about having intercource (quite frankly i believed he may have been gay because of the first game), so if it is suppose to be part of a mission, i dont think it should have been showed in the trailer like that.

  20. Gravatar

Jason Statham is the better choice for HITMAN !!!!!!!

  21. Gravatar

What the hell are you talking about, Gay! I love this game, I think the trailers are wicked, and the music isn’t half bad (only kidding ty). I’m a bit of a virgin when it comes to these games, more of a gambler. Got into it by the slot game. Prob helped coz I won loads on it.

  22. Gravatar

They should make it a 3D or animated movie.

  23. Gravatar

I’ve never seen a movie trailer for ages, and frankly speaking this is one heck of a dramatic change!

The beautiful, yet haunting, Ave Maria track ties with this trailer very nicely. It makes it zen. As Andy stated, it reflects who Mr 47 is - a calm and methodical assassin.

And I wonder whether Mr 47 is armed with a WA2000 sniper rifle at 1:20?

  24. Gravatar

Olyphant seemed like a ecent actor. I thought he came across pretty well in Live
free or Die Hard. I think he’ll do a good job as Agent 47, but I love hitman, and considering the character is voiced and even modeled physically after David Bateson, I think they should have gone with the voice actor. He is the role.
They modeled the Hitman cahrcter in the game after Bateson’s physical appearance, but all in all, I can’t wait.

  25. Gravatar

I do not agree with any of you, in my opinion, this movie looks pretty good.
I play the game Blood Money over and over, and the movie looks fit for it.

  26. Gravatar

i think once you see past how babyish timothy looks it will be a good movie PS i also want to kno why the title has 2 glocks instead of his trademark .45’s

  27. Gravatar

iam a big fan of hitman i plyed all parts of this game i finish not twicely all parts
20 times i finish, hmmm wel i saw the trailor, trailor isnt bad but it look good i like it,
iam waiting for this movie till oCt 12,may b movie hit the cenimas in a goood
crowd, well i like the trailor and charactor also, but 1 point i have to clear this
trailor didnt fails to impress,IAM REALLY IMPREES !!!!(^_-)
    HITMAN ALWAYS rOCKS
I WISH KYD GIVE THE BACKGROUND SCORE !!

  28. Gravatar

wrong fucking actor and the consept is like a whole new one….
    no good first impresion…..

  29. Gravatar

the guy who plays hitman looks like a kid ..

hitman is kinda old not too old but old certinly not a teenager

and i dont remember MR.47 ever making out with a woman either…

well atleast it has never been a mission objective …..

i’ll surely see the movie for simple reasons

it is eidos approved and has JESPER KYD

apart from tht this new MR.47 might jus chuck me out the theatre…

  30. Gravatar

I am so pissed about this movie. I came up with the idea. wrote a tiny part of the script. talked to a script agent and they told me “its the stupidest idea ever. who would want to see a movie based on a game, even if it is a violent one as you have written” well Henry what ever the hell your last name was. Do you still think I’m an idiot. Do you still think that i can’t come up with ideas that would be picked up by people who matter? we you know what i say i say “Fuck you Henry. i knew it was a good idea.”

  31. Gravatar

I agree with pinng, coz no actor can look or talk like 47!

  32. Gravatar

i think this trailer was great it builds up excitement by not giving too much away i think Timothy Olyphant is a great actor in die hard 4.0 so he will be able to act the part well he also fits the part as agent 47 coz he kinda looks like him. cant wait unitl the movie comes out

  33. Gravatar

I just love this trailer it is cool clean and smooth the music is excellent it really reflects the beloved agent we know from the game. Please dont make this a hollywood flick with way overdone action and explosions. I want the calm and professional Agent 47 just like in the games.

  34. Gravatar

Actor looks like a lil baby! Why the hell isn’t David Bateson playing 47!?

  35. Gravatar

wow this pisses me off so bad………….

now i have to wait until oct. 12!!!!

I don’t know what is up with some of you guys but this looks like it could be one the best movies i have ever seen……….. the music goes so well with it

  36. Gravatar

like a lot of other people I thought that Jason Statham
should have played the role until I heard about David Bateson.
If you don’t know who he is don’t worry, I didn’t either until 5
minutes ago but when I found out I was embarassed. He is the
guy that they used to make the mold of 47 when they first created
the game and on top of that he does the VOICE of 47 in the game.
After finding out about him I couldn’t figure out why the hell they
didn’t use him. He hasn’t done much so he would be really cheap
to get but he also has done a few things here and there that show
he’s got acting talent. Anyhow, as much as I was dissapointed to
find this out none of us can do anything about it…movie is coming out
soon and there is obviously no way they will make any changes now.
Overall…I’ve never been so excited to see a film.

  37. Gravatar

People are complaining because of the music in the trailer because it’s ‘opera’. First of all, it’s not opera, it’s the Ave Maria, a christian hymn. As you can see in the trailer, somehow christianity plays a part in 47’s background. Also, that same piece is the theme song to the most recent game, Hitman: Blood Money. Based on this, I fail to see why any fan of the game would have problem with this teaser, particularly concerning the musical aspect.

  38. Gravatar

I don’t like the way they’re making 47 out to be some evil-smiting assassin-
christ, “protected by divinity”. THe trailer was decent, however, this film can either be just ok, or really, really bad.

  39. Gravatar

Just so I could add this before anyone else ruins the moment… Hitman 47 isn’t based on the looks, isn’t based on the locatons, he’s based on his character, YES JASON STATHAM would have been rockin’ the set if he took the character but yet he is into fame now and not into admiring a movie, i understand CLEARLY why the board of directors chose this actor don’t care who he is… He fits the script, he fits the scenes, talks, walks, jumps and catches whatever he is assigned to do in the movie, mark my words… He’s up to it… To the fullist, and whoever said that Hitman isn’t that much of a video game, please check how many CDs DVDs and Fan kits they have sold, then COMPARE the result of money to the ammount of money HALO and it’s series has captured… Halo made number 1 at GameSpot.com for 3 weeks… Hitman Codename 47/ Hitman Silent Assassin / Hitman Contacts / Hitman Blood Money made number 1 for 2 MONTHS!! CHECK THE ARCHIVES !!! I speak as a fan, as an admirer, as a person who done a barcode tattoo on his neck with the same numbers added to 47’s neck, with a tattoo with the logo of Hitman on my upper left back … I wouldn’t go nuts unless the game has done something that changed my entire life… You could say it’s like God Father… But I haven’t seen any addicts done tattoo’s with the name of God Father or the logo on their bodies ;) … As a finale, I only suggest you come equiped next time you wanna insult Hitman’s video games … And the movie, jealousy is a big mo’ fu’ isn’t it ? Heh, we made it to the big screen, you made it to the 14″ PC screen … hahahahaha !!

  40. Gravatar

hey anyone help me out in this q/s !!!!!!!!!!!!

very urgent does hitman hit theatres in india!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    sumone answer fast plzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  41. Gravatar

The actor they chose to play hitman is no where near old or icy enough !
For god sake they could at least cast the characters correctly !
same with wolverine and Punisher. Dolf lungeren while a very bad actor was perfectly dark and macarbe in the original version of punisher (try finding it …. bet you cant )
    Also TWO WORDS….
    STREET FIGHTER….
    nuf said !

  42. Gravatar

I actually really think that this movie looks as if it MIGHT actually do the series justice. I personally really enjoy the Hitman videogames as I’ve played thru all of them since the first title (a rarity for me). I used to be a huge gamer, now I pick out occasional titles maybe once every 3 to 4 months, but hitman has almost always been a favorite since theres nothing else like it out there. I really think that it might have a chance all things considered. I think it looks kind of like a cross between La Femme Nikita, Leon the Profesional and The Transporter. And the french vein of action movies kindof goes hand in hand with Hitman. So who knows, we may be pleasantly surprised. I dont usually watch video game movies, Doom and Mortal Kombat being the exceptions (both crap). But I have a feeling about this one…

  43. Gravatar

i think the trailer doesnt revile enough i would like 2 hear his voice for sure because by the way he looks he’ll probably sound like a kid, true its hard 2 find people 2 play a video game character but when that character is based on a real person an actor at that plus he even does the voice in the game why not use him baffles me!, it does look ok i give it that but i hope that he doesnt find love and that he kills people because they are evil because then it will be nothing like what hitman is, it’ll be more like 007 (even though bond films are good)he shud b like the character in the game why is there a need to change it from that ?? hes a contract killer simple hes got no morals, simpathy and doesn’t care about love all he cares about is his target, how to kill them and most of all his silverballers . i hope the movie does well i’ll go see it but when i do i wont go in wive high preconceptions from the trailer like other game films(mortal kombat, street fighter, doom etc only exception DOA becoz of holly vallance towel scene stroke of genius) , if it does flop we’ve just got 2 look forward 2 hitman 5 coming out!!

  44. Gravatar

I’m looking forward to this movie. The trailer was just a taster and I
hope that it does well. The music in the trailer is used in Hitman:Blood Money and I think reflects the character very well. Music of this ilk is used throughout the game series.

  45. Gravatar

David Bateson…he should have played the role. Why? Because
he did the voice in all of the Hitman games and they used his
face to make the mold of Hitman for the game so he looks like
Hitman and he does his voice just like it. Plus, he’s done some
acting so he shows he’s got talent

  46. Gravatar

well,I havent played the games(M)but ive seen pictures & reviews on x-play & agent47 is pretty dang kool but wats with da romance hes a cold hearted killer for pete sake and who da heks timothy somthin he only looks kinda like him becase u guessed it. no hair!!! it looks eggsadgerated but i think itll be pretty good. (:/

  47. Gravatar

I think that Jason Statham it´s better for play the role of Agent 47. Timothy Olyphant it´s a weak pretty boy.

  48. Gravatar

BOOOOOO the dood doesnt look like hitman at all, i say they shoulda used Jayson Statham,(transporter guy)(Crack) u kno, suits it way more but oh well im still gonna watch the movie cuz u never kno,…….hitman 2 better have Jayson Statham lol

  49. Gravatar

BOOOOOO the dood doesnt look like hitman at all, i say they shoulda used Jayson Statham,(transporter guy)(Crack) u kno, suits it way more but oh well im still gonna watch the movie cuz u never kno,…….hitman 2 better have Jayson Statham lol.

  50. Gravatar

You wouldn’t get the silent assasin rating with all those explosions!! I mean it looks like a good movie, if your just judging it as a plain old movie, but from that trailer it looks like their taking away the entire point of why the entire franchise was made, to be a stealth based action game, and seems a little unlogical that they would take that purpose away. I mean for gods sake the name of the 2ND HITMAN game was called HITMAN: SILENT ASSASIN. SILENT ASSASIN, that does not look like silent assasin that looks like the mass murderer rating.

  51. Gravatar

By the way im also a huge hitman fan, especially Agent 47, and i personally think that they guy who is playing him Tinothy Olyphany looks way to young, I would have cast the guy from Transporter. Also it would be completley ridiculous for Agent 47 to have any kind of relatonship. if thats what the trailer was suggesting. After all his motto was “Trust no one” in the game.

  52. Gravatar

Personally, as a teaser trailer, I thought it looked quite good. I mean, I love the hitman series of games and I think that this trailer does capture them quite well. I mean even the “cheesy titles” (which I don’t think are cheesy at all but reflect the character that is codename 47) are borrowed directly from Blood Money (as far as I remember) and so is the backing music. Now, I’m not saying that the film should just outright copy the game because that wouldn’t work - but if you’re going for a ‘hitman mood’, then this trailer’s got it. As to Olyphant, he doesn’t look exactly like Codename BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT OF THE FILM!!! He doesn’t have to be a clone of a clone (forgive the pun) - he just has to try his best to act like 47 and not like a prat and, as it is a teaser trailer, we can’t really tell if he’s pulled that off yet.

  53. Gravatar

I like what I see so far, the trailer adheres to the game’s ambiance. I am glad Vin Diesel stepped down, he is nothing like 47’s character. I initially thought Jayson Statham looked like he could pull it off because of his physical similarities but he is no way near the actor Timothy Olyphant is, just look at his performance as Bullock in HBO’s “Deadwood”.

  54. Gravatar

What is he, 18? Geez-a-loo. Was there NOONE else they could cast who was even slightly closer to looking like 47? I absolutely love the Hitman series. Always have. And now there’s finally an opportunity do something really great with this story, and this is the best they could do? I know it’s just a teaser trailer, but come on. Ambiance aside, it just doesn’t look right. And I can’t really place my finger on the problem…ahem Tim Olyphan ahem……but I sure hope this flick is better than this teaser leads you to believe.

  55. Gravatar

I really wish these studios would have REAL gamers write, or even just oversee these movies when they get made. The reason these movies don’t do very well is because they don’t stick to the premise of the games. Games like Hitman and its sequels sell TONS of games BECAUSE of the writing, not just the gameplay itself. A movie studio gets a hold of the idea and ruins what made it a great game in the hopes that its own “spin” will make it bigger… It never does.

The trailer I saw made Agent 47 a young (almost) “kid” that seemed hip on the trigger of his “Ballers”. F- that noise. That’s not 47. It’s a studio created “hip/fresh” adaptation of a cool and calm silent assassin. They hope to capitalize on the young audience in general. They should’ve stuck with the essence of the game, rather than just the idea - Just like every other gaming movie. It would’ve brought that same audience, and it would’ve brought the gaming community as well.

I’m hoping to be pleasently surprised and the young dude we saw will only be at the beginning while 47’s story develops, but I have the feeling it won’t. I get the feeling that the whole movie will be full of “bang bang explosions” done by an erratic kid, rather then the silent, cold, experienced, and methodical assassin we come to enjoy in the game.

  56. Gravatar

Wrong actor for the part that what is going to ruin the movie from my prospective it should have be eather Jason Statham who is the actor the first comes to mind when some one say’s Hitman moive.
or David Bateson who the original hitman was modled after.

  57. Gravatar

Ahhh, damn. It impressed me and it will be one of first movies ill watch. But still , havent you seen lots of awfull movies with nice trailers? Pfff

  58. Gravatar

    Everyone….stop being GAY !

For one thing, in the games - most of the time you only saw the BACK of 47’s head except for the cool & unusual camera angles when he was just about to whack somebody.

If they have done this right (and used slick camera angles with a half way decent plot), it should elicit the same ball-tickling feelings we all enjoyed when we played it. Give Olyphant a chance !

  59. Gravatar

I belive the trailer I saw was pretty good. I just have one little problem with it though. I think that Timothy Olyphant was a BAD casting choice, Jason Statham could be SOOOO much better in that role. I mean, he’s GOT the look, the moves, AND the voice for it. I think that the producers were just a little sticky-fingered with the $$ to even think that fans would like (Hell, ENJOY) the Brit better.

    2 cents

  60. Gravatar

For the people who think video games don’t have a good story obviously don’t know what they’re talking about. Video games have some of the best story lines in the world, hence why its bigger and more expensive than the movie industry and to set the record straight, those who have played Hitman: Blood Money will know that the classical song used in the trailer is also featured in the game and because the game is successfull, the director will wanna follow in its path.

P.S., who the hell done the main review on this site???

  61. Gravatar

I would say that this movie mite find way to project the concept of it’s game series. There is this “Silent Assassin” stuff that used to get on my nerve when i was playing the series. So can we expect numerous silent killings being executed by the HITMAN enacted by hmm..actually i was expecting the transporter boy Jason Statham or Vin Deisel..but u know all’s not as u wish it 2 be…well i enjoyed the latest trailer on
    http://media.movies.ign.com/media/499/499143/vid_2032710.html
Movie should impress probably.Trailer shows that!

  62. Gravatar

The combination of elegance in both violence and musical score with the beautiful voice of the singer is the very element that identifies this gaming series.

Author: Take a modest minute to think about the marketing employed in this trailer. The trailer appeals to the ethos of those who have experienced this game, which to my understanding stands as a pretty large audience. Those fans of the series will pay the buck to see this and are the ones who will actually get something out of it.

Additionally, it is obviously easier to sit back and be a critic. However, I would have respected your opinion more if (1) it were more timely (closer or during the premier of this movie) and more importantly, (2) if you had actually played the game.

    Nevertheless, a decent article.

  63. Gravatar

Everthing is good but the actor is not! Olyphant looks like a child and doesn’t have any charısma skill for this role. Actor could be Willis or Statham not any other! I think it like that! but… that’s already olyphant. That’s boring me!

  64. Gravatar

I am torn apart indeed concerning my feelings about this movie. On the one hand this teaser really is creating an atmosphere of cold calmness facing most brutal violence which is similar to the atmosphere created by playing the game. On the other hand there are some obstacles that hinder this atmosphere from flowering out, namely Timothy Olyphant’s face: It’s not his lips or cheeks, rather his big brown eyes that makes his face look so cute I would like to kiss it. But this picture
    http://www.wallpaperez.net/de/movie/zoom/Hitman-Timothy-Olyphant-1179.html
does make him look almost like a man instead of a cute baby. Then there are those scenes showing Mr 47 being intimately together with a woman which is a horrifying thing to see for a fan of this assassin, who’s success relies on his calculating, emotionless way of dealing with his environment. Hopefully the story will not be about a super assassin who falls in love with an enemy just to kill his way through and live happily with her ever after. In that case at least those who know Hitman will be most disappointed. In addition, while viewing this teaser, I’ve had the feeling the movie is focusing on showing No 47 as a killing machine, an action hero, who he is not, for he is too reasonable concerning his business.
All in all this movie might be entertaining just as long the movie leaves the Hollywood romance in peace.
“It has been said a man will walk this earth who has the power to strike down evil wherever it hides” - I hope No 47 won’t be used as an instrument of God or some good force to hunt down evil. He is not. If he was, he would wear a uniform of the US Army just to propagandize the good we do by invading a country which resources we need. But he kills for money. If the agency ran out of money, he would get his contracts from someone else. I fear this movie will lie about that fact, perhaps also about the fact that he doesn’t allow himself to feel emotions and about the fact that he deals with his business most delicately and avoids noise and violence as much as possible.

Still I hope my fear is nothing but a shadow that feigns to be a grim, laughing face.

PS: If you wonder why I wrote so much text just about this teaser..to be honest I’m very very bored because I can’t sleep.

I think the trailer was cool, clean and of high technical quality. I played two hitman games myself and I wouldnt pass this one up! Since every body has their favorite actor to play the lead role, mine would be Christian Bale. When he’s serious that bony face of his and peircing eyes make him look like he’s carrying a gloomy, heavy secret.

    But Timothy Olyphant will do.

  66. Gravatar

I love all the Hitman games and the trailer does look specky (im glad they used the music from Blood Money) but almost every game made into a movie has been CRAP!. I really really hope this is good coz I always thought you could make a good movie from the games. Timothy OLiphant doesnt look big/strong enough to be Hitman.

Maybe the woman is an enemy agent trying to seduce him? she better bloody be coz there is no way 47 can have a relationship.

  68. Gravatar

Jason Statham should be the Hitman. He just fits and looks like in the game.

  69. Gravatar

I absolutely love all of the four games. But i seriously hate the voice of the character. I am really glad they got olyphant coz he’s got a voice which kind of fits my mental profile of how the character’s voice should be.Christian Bale probably would be good too.@Optimus Prime, I think a lot of what I would like to say was said already. With regard to A47 being a kid, emotional etc, whatever…well in the game it doesn’t really say how old he is. I am at least taking it from the point of view of films like batman begins and the remake of casino royale so i will definetely give it a chance.

  70. Gravatar

I don’t care who you are, Alexx Wesselsky would make the best Hitman; he looks (and sounds) totally BA. The only problem is that [almost] nobody knows who he is. (just do a Google image search and you’ll see what I mean)

  71. Gravatar

What is this article about? The trailer or the general Idea of videogame adaptations? We all know that generally films derived off videogames end up bad, not only because of persons like Uwe Boll, but because of the reasons you stated. Allright, agreed, but that makes this trailer failing to impress? Does the history of filmgames makes you want the next trailers regarding this scene be extravagantly impressive?

I think no matter how cool the trailer looked, or however they made it, you would have said the very same thing.

This doesn’t add much to the film in question, and only creates extra pessimism which I don’t see why you want to create that.

  72. Gravatar

I’m just wondering why they didn’t ask Jason Statham to do the role as Agent47. I think he would’ve been a much better actor for the role but that’s me.

  73. Gravatar

The idea has not been captured. The machine guns, explosions him having sex or shoving emotions. I am a BIG FAN if Hitman but i think i,m gonna be disappointed with the film.

  74. Gravatar

In the end we could just argue and debate till we see the movie and then express ourselves.

  75. Gravatar

Ok i think this movie will be good but i have never seen the person who is playing 47 and it is about time there makeing movies about games but the don’t fallow the main story for an example Resident Evil had no relation to the game the only thing was Racoon city zombies unbrella there was no alice as the main character but there was a jill so if they mad a Halo movie its not going to be about the game To me the Halo 3 graphics where like Halo 2 graphics i have seen better Unreal Tournament 3 or UT2k7 even BioShock and Gears of war had better Graphics then Halo 3 so there makeing a movie about hitman big deal i think it would be better then all the saw movie’s hitman 1 2 3 4 are good movies if yall would play them yall would agree

  76. Gravatar

I agree with rOnin, If you’re the follower of the game,(As most of us are.) all the little essentials should be there.
47’s face is a face of coldness.Steel blue cold eyes, and an almost angry protruding brow. His demeanor is cold,His only function is to take contracts from “the agency”for a price, and calls the price depending on the difficulty of the hit.
He has no love interest! While some may want to put a truly humane face on 47.The only time we ever have seen this was in the “Hitman 2″ game where he lived and worked at the church, and got away from taking contracts for a while, taking into account in his soul, the killings he performed in the past. That is…,until the priest of the church is kidnapped. I feel the movie should start from this venue. He has no love interest!!! The only women he comes in contact with,is Diane from “The Agency”.
As rOnin has rightfully said; a romantic tinge in the movie, might kill the whole deal. Keep the movie within the level of the game. Also he is right in adding that we don’t want to see, where the subject is used to justify certain political junk. The game has had a bit of this idea in it.But should not be the main thrust of the movie.
As we are fans of the game;we know that 47 is hired to take down some very vile and villianous sorts. And takes him down into a truly evil world of those that kill for sport,or sex and murder,in an underground world. THIS is the 47 we as gamers…,know! And we hope that this is what we might see from the movie.
The music? The Ave Maria will fit in this film. But they should also introduce some of Jesper Kyd’s music as well. “Apocalypse” would be a good choice somewhere in the film. Or the title song from the “Contracts” game.
All in all,I’m very glad someone is making a movie of this my favored game, and am looking very forward to viewing it.
Promiserofdeath is right; If you have played all the “Hitman” games, you can’t help but look forward to the movie production.

I think I will wait until its on DVD, efore i watch it.

All you Nay-Sayers can blow it out your ear, because most movies made from video games suck ass, this one however, does look pretty sweet. This is a movie about an assassin killing people, and blowing stuff up. Doesn’t take a genius writer to make that a decent movie. That brings to mind the Bourne trilogy, which would have kicked ass if not for the rediculous camera work. What kind of amazing story telling do you expect from a movie based on someone killing people?? Shut up. Idiots. Honestly what does it take for you people to be entertained? Hey Peter, what would it take to impress you? the 34th startrek film???

  79. Gravatar

i thinking they should have used jason statham as agent 47, he would of played perfect hitman!! thats just my two cents…..

  80. Gravatar

Freaken terrible review man. Dont dis the hitman trailer nor dis the hitman video game, this has to be the best trailer Ive seen in a while. Adding that music in the background adds ALOT of good emotion to the video the explosions show what the movie has to offer. This has to be the best looking video game movie coming out. So you can go watch u die hard guy, flying over helicopters and doing 360s with no problems at all. While I watch a real hitman doing his job.

  81. Gravatar

    Interesting point of view, Tristan.
Since you call those who oppose your opinion “idiots” I’m afraid I’m one of those, so I might be wrong.
What does it take me to be entertained?
To be honest explosions and people being killed is very entertaining, especially since our sophisticated society has risen from barbarianism and acknowledged that our brain thirsts for brutality and the simplicity of solving one’s problems with violence.

Have you ever played one of the Hitman games?
    I assume you haven’t.
The game’s deep storyline has a lot to give. In case you’re interested read through the storyline on one of the fansites of your favor. Actually this is not about a killer, it’s about No 47 which makes a big difference, as I already recommended, read through the storyline for further information.

  82. Gravatar

wats the title of that opera music though, anyone have an idea or know?? i really wanna know so i can get it.

  83. Gravatar

Does anyone know the title of this opera music because i rwould really like to know so i could buy it off itunes or something????

  84. Gravatar

The name of the song Samuraiman is ” Ave Maria ” That is the real title of the song,as it is a famous Catholic song. You should be able to download it if you’ll google Ave Maria. Will even give you some history of the song as well I’m sure. Good luck to you. You can hear the whole version in the Hitman “Bloodmoney” game.

  85. Gravatar

Thank you sfisher your really helpful

  86. Gravatar

who is the composer for this edition of it though because the one i got it was a man singing

  87. Gravatar

Your quite welcome,SamuraiMan! The very first composer to “Ave Maria” I am not sure of.But again google”History of Ave Maria” and I’m sure you will get a bevy of things to search on as to the history and Bio of the song.
On the game, A woman sings the song. Most every time I have heard it,it was by a woman. But I’m sure Bocelli probably sings it just as beautifully, maybe even Pavorrati. Ha! Every now on occasion I play it on my small piano.
Now one last thing. The brainchild to the music of the Hitman games is Jesper Kyd. He’s done some music to some other games as well. But he likes to use the European orchestra,(Not sure on who they are.) and the Hungarian Radio Choir.I think his work is brilliant as to putting the music to fit the gaming and mood of the game.
Hope some of this helps. Have a good one!

  88. Gravatar

what in the world made you say that (to the writter). anyway, Olyphant looks younger compared to the 47 in the game. One more thing, i want to hear Olyphant’s voice as 47. What do you think?

  89. Gravatar

I’m skeptical about this. Hitman is a great series, I was there playing the first one as soon as it was out. Contrary to what most think he does display tidbits of emotion in the games, and can seemingly co-operate fairly well. He also falls along the “good” side when possible. However his ruthlessness while operating is what’s most important and they seem to have captured that part at least.

My main problem is with the love interest part, the fact that I didn’t see him stealing anyone’s outfit in the trailer (this HAS to be in for it to feel like 47) and also with some of the fighting. While it doesn’t have to match the games by any means it still should follow some of the themes and in the games he does get hit fairly frequently. The thing is he’s MORE than human and can continue to fight with several bullets in him, needing only to have them removed when he’s done with the job. He’s good but he’s not always perfect… I’m afraid they’re going to turn him into a bald Neo.

  90. Gravatar

Oops, sent it too soon. Picking up where I left off…

He does usually get away with everything cleanly though, as we’re intended to perform the missions with a nearly sterile record. There are some though that result in a shoot-out regardless of your effort and it concerns me that the trailer shows lots of non-stealthy moments, using only the sniper rifle for a sign of our silent assassin. I can’t imagine the fiber wire not being used though so we’ll see.

The love story could and probably will kill this movie though. His faint hint of feelings for Diana was enough in the game to give him sympathy without making him humane and I think that’s the key - we never really are supposed to accept him as being like a regular person. He’s got too much behind him to ever have a family or an average job, I don’t think he even gets aroused except possibly by strangling someone.

Any moral points should come from his targets, who are almost always scum of the planet and the biggest way in which we are able to understand how 47 does what he does. The music and some of the scenes look promising but we’ll see if the dialogue and story play out in a faithful manner.

  91. Gravatar

Well Put…,!On all your concerns towards the production of this movie William. Since most all of us here have played the games of this intriguing character,we should already know I guess, that indeed 47 was created for political purposes.Else why would they create so many clones as we find at the beginning of the game in “Contracts”,and again when 47 goes up against a clone in “Hitman 2″
Neo? You might well have a point. All in all, their creation was for political and security purposes.
47 is special though,as we see.Seems “The Agency” secures his services as the clone different from the rest. He does do political hits, but as we all know, those that have the funds to pay “The Agency” to take out some vile individuals in the drug markets,or in the sex and murder underworld…,these 47 will do as well, on the side.
In any case;Let us all grab a bag of popcorn and a cola, and enjoy this film at a theater or on our DVD’s. However the film turns out…,it will still will be fun to watch.

  92. Gravatar

I had no idea a “Hitman” video game existed. By chance I have come across this website after watching a preview for the movie. Even without knowing the film was based off of a video game, it looks foolish. In fact, the preview almost implied that killing people who are considered evil is not morally incorrect in any way. Or perhaps I have completely misunderstood the entire thing. I’m just incredibly tired of bad movies. I miss movies like “Singin’ In the Rain”. Why don’t we tap dance anymore?

  93. Gravatar

There is a movie about tap dancing! About 10 years or more old though. Gregory Hines had the lead role in the movie.Forget the though,Sorry!
Also there’s a movie with Penguins tap dancing. Actually a pretty good show, though geared for the young children; Everyone I know that’s seen the movie, enjoyed it a great deal.
No; there are no real assassins like the character in the movie or the game.Remember Rob,these are fictional characters,in a fictional story.
Last time I looked,I’ve yet to see someone really go outside and tap dance and twirl an umbrella in the rain.If we do;we’d better call the white suits. “Singin in the Rain” is a fictional story as well. But a good one!
There’s enough movies out there for everyones taste. Google “Tap dancing movies”,and I’m quite sure you will find the kinds of films you do enjoy. Good day!

  94. Gravatar

    r0nin,

Maybe the ‘brutal and simple’ like death for the primeval need for violance, and maybe you do.. But the sophisticated people for the incredible mental and physical fortitude to do that. Killing at an assassins level is an art, honed by thousands of years of human evolution. Everyone likes seeing The Alpha Kill sheep.

Well you can go ahead and look like an presumptuous ass then, ’cause I own the first two games. How is it being about NO 47 differant from being about a killer like Jason Bourne? You’ve got a government created super killer, and a privately created killer.. The Movie is, ‘Hitman’…

  95. Gravatar

Hello to both of you,rOnin and Tristan, and to all others!

One question. Did you like the movie?
Considering movies that were made off of video games,Do you give it a thumbs up,or thumbs down?
rOnin I read that you had concerns as to whether the movie would follow closely to the games story.
Tristan,If I did not misunderstand you,you were a bit preturbed at how everyone was dicing up the movie trailer, without maybe giving it a chance to be seen.
As it turns out Tristan, you were very right. This was a pretty good movie, compared to some of the other crappy movies taken off a video game ideology. It was indeed ‘Sweet’! Action from the very get go,and the movie kept you into the story. It does run a little parallel to ‘Bourne Identity’ does’nt it? But without the romantic concerns.
rOnin,I would think that if you have not seen the movie,by all means,do go see it. I think all your concerns might be a pleasant surprise to you. Except for a few small things, the film was in context, and the concept of the game itself. I liked it,and will buy it when it comes out for sale.
I realize there may be others who may not think so much of the movie.
But if you like action in your movies.with a tinge of espionage under the hands of a professional assassin, then I don’t think you’ll be too disappointed.
    Good day!

  96. Gravatar

Wow what a great movie although i do think Jason Statham would make a better agent 47 but timothy Olyphant did a great job. I to am a major video game player the movie was relatively true to the ideas of the game I also agree that video games based on movies and vice versa do not make vary good film and if any one knows what order in story do the hitman games take place i belive it is blood money, contracts, silent assassin not sure

  97. Gravatar

Yeah; Jason Statham may have been good for the movie also. But Timothy Olyphant did superbly for the role of 47. After the movie,as I was reading the credits,I found much to my surprise, that Vin Diesel was the Executive Producer or Director of this movie. Many thought he might well play a good 47. He opted out of the lead role as 47,to be in an even more important part of the film as it’s dir.or pro.exe. He and the whole staff did a great job on this film.
As to the order of how the ‘Hitman’ series comes. The first is,’Hitman: Codename 47′, the second is ‘Hitman 2′,the third is ‘Hitman’ Contracts, the latest is ‘Hitman’ Blood money.
I have not played the Codename 47 but will pick it up,since I do have the ‘Hitman Trilogy’ package already. Just want the whole series, because the games do have a pretty good story in them,in the small cutscenes.
    Hope this helps! Good day!

Ha! Ha! Lighten up a little Robyn! 1. I am not an entertainer, and would certainly make a poor one at that. 2. It’s okay that you choose to not have a nice day. I hope it for you anyway.
Love and peace to you, my friend !
