It's hilarious to see how easy is to brainwash people. Tom's reps keep denying the invented stories about scientology and him. Apparently someone is busy inventing nonsenses and throwing them to the press people. And the funniest thing is that they believe and publish them and part of the public fall in the trap too. I wonder who is crazy here... We have seen so many lies about Tom Cruise published in the last couple of years starting with the placenta story, that I wonder how some people still believe these crazy stories. Any media reporting them should be ashamed. And the people believing them should seriously worry about their mental health.

You Americans are so close-minded. You think that just because a celebrity endorses something that it is okay. Well guess what it's not. It is typically American to try and link anything that happens now to the one notable historical event that exists in the American psyche in reference to the place. Well not everything that happens in Germany can be related back to WWII. That's lazy and bigoted and, dare I say it American.
Well, dudes, maybe you should worry about how your government is supporting a murder machine in Iraq and less about the antics of some pocket-sized brainwashed freak.
Happy fourth of July.

All those german politicians are so short minded. They have a constitution and then they don't respect it. They don't respect freedom of thought which by the way is also one of the human rights. No wonder Hitler was able to do what he did. I he came back in germany, maybe these politicians would help him. They have the frame of mind. They are definitely bigots.

Maybe to add some facts, if anybody is interested (I do have the impression the public debate on this has left the reign of facts a while ago): (1) no shooting permit has been requested by the production company so far, consequently none has been rejected. (2) the German Ministry of Defense (which is quoted in most news items as the source of the supposedly rejected permit) does not own the building all this is about (the "Bendlerblock") - it is owned by the Ministry of Finance, (3) Scientology has two specific "status features" in Germany that are relevant here: it is considered a commercial organisation (not a "church"), and it is officially under observation by the German "Verfassungsschutz", which you could translate with a national police unit dedicated to protection constitutional issues. The latter means that there is an initial suspicion that the organisation may be or will be enganged in violating German constitutional rights, such as non-discrimination, freedom of speech, fredom of science, etc. (and yes: the freedom to choose and practice one's religioun). All this is based on a long history of court cases that have been well documented, and where the arguments pro and against each decision have been discussed. As for the "discrimination" argument raised: Neither of these status decisions means that the ability of the organisation to operate is restricted, they just do not receive the state (e.g. tax) benefits an approved "church" receives and they cannot use the public tax authorities to collect "membership fees". Hence it can operate in just about the same way as it can, eg, in the US.
So what is it that makes this story such a big thing? Well, nothing, actually, so far...

no, you're a scientologist, Dr. Krippen.

Here's what LRH had to say about Catholicism:

“You will find the cross as a symbol all over the universe, and the Christ legend as implant in preclears a million years ago.” (L. Ron Hubbard, Professional Auditor Bulletin 31, 1954)

“Somebody, somewhere on this planet, back about 600 BC, found some pieces of R6.... And it became what is known as Christianity. Uh, the man on the cross, there was no Christ, but the man on a cross, is shown as every man.... a person can have been crucified, but in R6 he is shown as crucified..... the entirety of Roman Catholicism, the devil and all this sort of thing, that is all part of R6.” (L. Ron Hubbard, Class VIII Auditor Course Lectures, 1968)

I’m Catholic, not a scientologist, but it’s obvious that Germany has committed some secret
crimes that they are afraid Tom Cruise or Scientology could find out about. Scientology
has helped millions of people and L Ron Hubbard is considered a great friend of mankind
all over the world by people of all faiths. Germany is just being suppresive putting some
false datum out there about scientology.

Tom is just not getting the message, is he? To be sacked by your film company because of your religion is one thing but to be barred from a country?

The Scientologists like their pet celebrities to be rich, popular and successful. At this rate, he may even be sacked by them, too.

Tom Cruise should also be banned from Germany for just being a talentless hack- Just because Americans bend over to any lame cult doesn't mean Germany should accept this moron to portray
a heroic man of principle- If Cruise had any scruples or taste he would bow out- but he won't- cause he's a freak and doesn't have any principles- Scientology- I've got a degree in Thinkology ! lol

U gotta laugh. Germany's constitution guarentees freedom of religion. While its governmnet has even banned Microsoft products because of the religion of a subcontractor. U gotta laugh at government thinking.

Ok. After reading the wikipedia site Pierre linked for me, wow Scientology
is full of mistakes and seems to be geared toward the brain-washing of
the simple minded. That's based off the stuff I read.

Honestly though while I won't sit here and say they are evil and need to
be shut down, I will neither boost them as good. While some of their
members and leaders did go to great length to make the "religion"
look better, even far enough to break the law and threaten people.
Every religion has it's fanatics. Granted Scientology seems to have alot
more of them then any other religion. They also place the celebrity
members as more important than the non-famous, bothers me to no end.

So as a final thought from me on this. Meh, I just stopped caring.

It doesn't matter if Germany believes that Scientology is a business and not a religion. They are not allowing them to shoot on ground where other movies have shot because of that fact. I could understand if the film was going to promote scientology, but it clearly isn't. The film is also not being produce or funded by the religion. So to deny them based on the religion of the film's main star alone is intolerant. And yes, my last comment was meant to be Sensational.
