the hardest thing to do in comedy is to come up with something completely original - a funny ‘take’ on something that no one else has thought of… believe me, writing is HARD. watching or listening to bill cosby or Louie C.K. and mimicking a joke they wrote is a LOT easier.

and it is acting, if you don’t write it. what do actors do? take what other’s have written, and deliver lines.

i don’t know if you’ve ever done standup, ferus, but i have. and you don’t steal jokes. it is the absolute worst thing you can do as a comic.

it doesn’t have to be word-for-word. any fair-minded person knows those jokes were stolen; so i’m not going to even get into that.

it doesn’t matter that you find cook’s delivery better - he stole the jokes. i personally don’t think simply screaming the punchline makes it a better delivery.

the number one rule and comedy (and the ONLY rule) is, DON’T STEAL MATERIAL.

if you take someone else’s material, and ‘deliver’ it better, you’re nothing more than an actor.
