20th Century Fox must be expecting Fantastic Four 2 to make some big bucks this weekend. The bad reviews couldn’t stop the first film from selling tickets, and it seems like the studio believes they have another box office winner. The LA Times is reporting that Fox has already put a feature spinoff starring The Silver Surfer into development. According to the story, Babylon 5 scribe J. Michael Straczynski is already hard at work crafting the screenplay.
But will The Silver Surfer be able to carry a whole movie by himself? His character is certainly interesting enough (more interesting than Fantastic Four at least), and I’m more than confident in Straczynski. But I’m not quite sure that the public is ready for a comic book film where the hero is completely computer generated.

I am more than ready. The new Fantastic Four blew. The previews looked cool, but they were the only good parts in the movie. The only reason I and many others went to see it was because the Surfer was in it. Hopefully though they drop the ludicrous notion that Norrin draws his power solely from his board, and without it he turns into a feeble gray wimp. For it is not true. He does not even need it to fly. Why would Galctus do that? Is he just supposed to stay on his board forever? Bad writing. J. Michael Straczynski is behind the “Silver Surfer: Requiem” series hopefully they keep him as the writer of the screenplay.

Actually, he does need is board to fly - However, he does not attain his power cosmic FROM the board, which is a ludicrous idea the brainiacs at Fox invented.

Actually, he most assuredly does not need his board to fly.
He does not attain his power cosmic from the board, which means he has access to it while he is off of it, and the power cosmic grants him(among many other benifits) Gravitikinesis(manipulation of gravity). The board just makes flight possible without expending any of his own energy.
In theory he does not need his board to fly, but to do so he would be wasting energy so that is why he is seldom seen without it(that and it makes flying more precise, it is a goosd weapon etc).
