At /Film, we like to promote movies. We use to post red band movie trailers, but the MPAA has ordered us not to. (Click here to read more about what happened). We removed the trailers and have replaced the videos with direct links to the studio red band trailer websites. The websites use a flawed age verification tool. We can’t even access the red band trailers using our own name, zipcode, and date of birth, even though we are well within the age guidelines. The system is a deterrent at best, any little kid could easily enter in their parents name and birthday for full access.
But we didn’t stop there. We have decided to help other people who may be running into the same problem. Below is the Name, Birthdate and Zipcode information for the Chairman of the MPAA, Dan Glickman, and the President of the United States, George W. Bush. I’m sure they won’t mind you using their information to access those “dirty” red band movie trailers.
George Bush
20500
07/06/46
Daniel Glickman
20016
11/24/44
The information above was gathered using simple wikipedia and google maps search. Yes, 20500 is the zip code for the White House. And we found only one Glickman registered near the MPAA’s Washington DC office - an R Glickman. Wikipedia lists Daniel’s middle name as Robert (or is it his real first name?). We decided to give it a try, and guess what - it worked. Yes, that’s right - the tool that is supposed to detour kids from hearing naughty words in movie advertising can now be used by hackers and web creeps around the world to reverse engineer private address information (luckily Glickman is a public figure and doesn’t qualify). Good job MPAA! Keep up the great work!

OH NO!! THOSE BAD WORDS HAVE DAMAGED MY FRAGILE LITTLE MIND.
I AM NOLONGER FIT FOR SOCIETY, I NEED A BABYSITTER TO TELL ME

Frog, you should have known better! There were plenty of warnings. I guess the lesson to learn today is that the MPAA knows what is right for you.

I don’t use my real name for anything — anything — other than when absolutely necessary, and certainly not to watch a movie trailer. What an invasion of privacy. I actually tried it, though, and despite being 32, I was denied, ostensibly, because I just moved at the beginning of the month and they haven’t processed my new license.
Also interesting: I grew up in NYC; at 28, I moved somewhere else and that’s when I got my license. They have you certify that you have a valid driver’s license. Half of NYC doesn’t have that, easily.
Nothing better than content barriers, especially when they block your intended audience from said content.

I AM SO GLAD THERE THERE IS SOMEONE WATCHING OUT FOR ME AND
TELLING ME WHAT TO DO. THANK YOU MPAA,EVEN THOUGH I AM AN ADULT
YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE TO MAKE DECISSIONS THAT I WOULD NEVER BE
ABLE TO FIGUREOUT ON MY OWN.

The MPAA can go (expletive) itself!!!

Seriously, when are we going to do something about them????

What database are these things actually checking against? Cause it lets me past it fine, using my real info, I’m 27, and I don’t have a drivers license, and never did, because I live in the New York city area and subways/buses are not only cheaper but alot easier too. So, what database do these things actually use?
June 13th, 2007 at 11:46 pm
I always fake my details on any of these things. Mainly because I’m from another part of the world - yes I don’t live in the US, but get this, I still spend money on going to see these movies.
For some insane reason I feel that gives me the right to see their marketing material. I know, what a crazy thought. So I’ve been faking my details in these for ever. I always just google for some random zip code and make everything else up.

okay if you use fake names and stuff can they find out in any way? Because the George Bush thing did work… I mean how could they not realize yet people are using our president to get into these sites? Do they not really check?
In addition, I notice you can get in as long as you put you are over fifty or so- because that’s the way I can only get it to work- fake names over fifty work, but fake names around 20-ish don’t seem to work???? And I use common names…

Worked fine, it was my first guess at a fake info.

MPAA is childish for thinking that the young minds will get affected if they here a few cuss words ahere and there and see some blood and here the word sex! OH MY NOW THAT I HAVE HEARD THAT WORD I WANNA DO IT ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!! I am only 14 and have heard all of these words for a while, hell, i have even seen Knocked up! Hilarious! anyway, they do it by age i think if you make up a fake name that is 25 years old and younger, it wont allow it. so yeah. but They think that just hearing someone cuss once is horrid. You cannot avoid it. One day kids will hear it from their parents at a young age. They wont know what it means. Let them hear it!

Can anyone help me i’ve tryied all the fake names on this page, but i still cant get in, i’m 20 but i live in canada so no zip, code. !

Thanks for posting that info. Considering anyone on the net can easily log into any number of porn sites using any details they want, I find it ludicrous that the MPAA make you try and prove who you are to watch a movie trailer - when I go and watch the actual film they don’t ask me for my name and date of birth!
I live in the UK so until now I’ve never been able to get access to red band trailers because we don’t use Zip codes over here - so thanks again - and for god’s sake get rid of censorship before it drives us all to violence. ;)

I tried to get onto the new M. Night movie site and this is the first time I have seen these weird Red Band thingys. I used my own info and I am 51 and the stupid thing kept saying invalid form data. That is the most mornic thing I have ever seen. I love M. Night, but I don’t get this junk.
June 8th, 2008 at 1:35 am
i just tried the M Night movie site myself (also first time seeing these red-bands) but nether my info, nor the two provided here work…
great security! the president of the MPAA, and the president of the country cant even get acess anymore *eye roll*

No matter what I do I can not gain access to the red band for The Happening. Has anyone seen it? and can you provide the info that gets you in?
June 13th, 2008 at 4:33 pm
I think the Red Band trailer for the Happening must be broken. I tried three different browsers and several names - none worked.
