Yesterday, we speculated that The Sopranos series finale left room for the long rumored Sopranos movie. Shortly after our posting (which by the time of this posting, generated over 180 comments from outraged fans) a rumor began to sweep Hollywood and the internet that Warner Bros and HBO would be announcing a Sopranos movie on Tuesday morning.
The Sopranos‘ executive producer Brad Grey (who is now Paramount’s chief) told DHD that “There is absolutely no discussion of the movie.” Yeah, FOR NOW.
Series creator David Chase granted one and only interview post-Sopranos series finale to the New Jersey Star-Ledger:
“I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there,” said Chase. “No one was trying to be audacious, honest to god. We did what we thought we had to do. No one was trying to blow people’s minds, or thinking, ‘Wow, this’ll (tick) them off.’ People get the impression that you’re trying to (mess) with them and it’s not true. You’re trying to entertain them.”
Following the interview, Chase claims he will never again discuss the film’s controversial final scene, so that it can speak for itself. However, at least one of the Sopranos cast members are talking about a potential movie. Springsteen side-kick Steven Van Zandt, who played Tony Soprano’s consigliere Silvio Dante in the series, gives this cryptic response to the New York Post:
“We’re not sure it’s ending,” Van Zandt said. “A couple of years from now, who knows?”
But even Chase won’t rule out the possibility of a feature film:
“I don’t think about (a movie) much,” David Chase says. “I never say never. An idea could pop into my head where I would go, ‘Wow, that would make a great movie,’ but I doubt it.”
And the song on the jukebox in that final scene? Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey.

ANyone who didn’t like the finale, obviously hasn’t been paying attention to the show. I thought the finale was brilliant, and while, yes, left open for interpretation, I think it’s quite obvious, if you watch, and pay attention to the show, and what they’ve said and done in the past, you’ll agree that Tony is dead, that the guy in the Members Only jacket capped him from behind.
I mean, really, no one really wanted Tony to die in the show, but no one really wanted to watch him go to jail.

Set aside all the Godfather references, onion rings being eaten whole
like communion, they all being dressed in black, tony wearing exactly
the same shirt as when junior shot him and the song choice, basically
Chase wanted to end sopranos & to be able to justify that Tony is
dead(going to black as per Tony & Bobby’s earlier conversation) -
however by going to black we may never know - thus he has the
option to release a movie - why didn’t he kill off sil? because if he
was to make a movie then he would need characters like sil & paulie
who have been with him since the beginning.
I think if Chase decides on a movie then the restaurant situation
will play out something like this…
Meadow runs into restaurant & towards the table - at this point the
shooter walks out of the toilet & immediately shoots to where tony was
sitting(this is why the shooter was looking at him so much so he could
clarify tonys position in his own mind & shoot without the need to aim so
much) - however Meadow has occupied the seat next to Tony & she gets
shot - not sure how the next bit would play out - does tony have a gun
or maybe the guy in the USA cap/african amercian guys have a gun(s)
& shoot him.
With his sister dead & his mind so unstable this is the perfect time for AJ
to step up & be the man his father always wanted him to be(if you look
back at one of the scenes in the final 2 episodes AJ is dressed like his
father; vest/dressing gown/gold chain)
The movie says something like 3 months later or so - sil has recovered,
Paulie has killed that cat. Both NY/NJ mobs have rebuilt their crews &
basically the movie is a big gun battle.
If there is not a movie then that final scene is a waste as when Chase
wrote it he clearly was unsure whether that would be the end or not - i
therefore don’t think he gave the scene the justice it deserved - its like
saying goodbye to someone thinking you may see them again but then
you don’t end up seeing them ever again - you’re only going to regret not
saying what you really should have.

I think that they really need to come out with a movie after that so called “finale”. That completely sucked!!! It left things too open and unexplained. If there is no movie, then they at least need another season or someone to clarify things. I would really like to know what happened. Did the reataraunt explode after the guy went into the bathroom??? WE DONT KNOW……MOVIE!!!!!!!

Well, although I have just started to watch The Sopranos…I honestly I’m in love with the show. I’m currently watching all The Sopranos re-runs….but I saw the last season and I was depressed alittle because 1. Bobby dies and 2. There ending it. I hope and wish for another season or a movie. I think every Soprano fan will see it without a doubt.

There will be a movie, I will step up, I will finally be a man, Meadow running into the restaurant late signifies something greater than you all are really catching, the man in the members only jacket is meant to make you all think harder than you really should be, the members only jacket just happen to be in the wardrobe! As for Tony wearing the same shit as when Uncle Jun shot him, he wore that shirt in 12 episodes, we have a wardrobe with so many shirts, it looked good cinematically, anyways, ill probably get yelled at and sued for this revelation, but You’ll see us again, take care, thanks for all the support, dont try emailing me cuz i would never leave it on here, dont speculate, just regulate
