Rob Zombie has revealed the OFFICIAL movie poster for his Halloween remake/start/prequel/whatever. I like the new poster because it works on a few different levels. It has so much going on but you don’t immediately see that because of the simple color scheme. As you know, the movie follows Michael Myers, a messed up 10-year-old child who is committed to a mental institution for 17 years. Myers is mistakenly released and returns to home to… well, you have the idea. Click on the poster to the right to see a slightly enlarged version.
Rob Zombie’s Halloween hits theaters on August 31st 2008 (which just go me thinking… why not release this film in October or even on Halloween?).

ummm… i am so sick of prequels, sequels… remakes…
does anyone care that this movie is coming out?
anyone?

hey I am with you on the remake thing but there have been a few exception. Peter Jacksons King Kong is an example . I have never been big on the Halloween movies but Rob Zombie interest me. He doesnt have a large body of work but his films show that he is a real talent. So I am interested in seeing his take on the halloween franchise. Maybe it will be like batman begins and re ignite a dead franchise.

I feel the same as lukeg37. I grew up watching horror movies and the original “Halloween” is one of the best. I still enjoy a good horror flick but these days the good ones are definitely few and far between. I would have very little interest in seeing a “Halloween” remake (after all why remake a film that was executed so very well the first time around?) if anyone other than Rob Zombie was doing it. Instead, I’m looking forward to it, especially since Zombie has said it isn’t a shot-for-shot remake a la Gus Van Sant’s “Psycho” but rather a slight reworking of the original. Looking forward to see what he does with it.

I’m semi-looking forward to this. This sounds to be what they call a “re-imagining” and, to me, that’s a valid term even though I know people don’t always like it.
I like when stories are repurposed, to get a different take on it. It doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily like it. But at least it’s a different vision of how the overall story could be played out.

Why does Michael Myers have long hair? I mean i know he probably doesn’t have a barber cause he would’ve killed him when he said” That’ll be eight dollars”!lol I think that’s actually Rob Zombie in that poster. Who knows! Who cares cause i love all the halloween movies and i cant wait till he kicks Jason’s ass!

I read the script and its pretty disappointing, heard its changed though and of
course i will still see it but i can’t help but be skeptical.
The poster is un-scary, so peg me down as someone who doesn’t get it.

The movie comes out 8-31-07 not 8-31-08.

Eh, I think a Halloween release date would be a mistake. You’d get a big opening weekend, but the end of the “season” would hurt you in the following weeks.
I think “Black Christmas” kind of shot itself in the foot with its Dec. 25 release date. Who wants to see a Christmas movie (even a darkly comedic horror one) in early January?
June 7th, 2007 at 9:57 am
They should release it in early October. They released the last Halloween sequel (the one with Busta Rhymes) in August and I think 8 people showed up. Because who the hell is thinking Halloween in August? It’s like releasing a Christmas movie on November 1 — you’re jumping the MF gun.
Sure Halloween Busta was stupid, but you know they would have had a lot more if they just rode the October tide.
Stale has a good point too. You can definitely wait too long.

The decision isn’t usually based on the exact idea of October 31. Movies are often released based on what else is going to be released in a similar time frame. A movie like a “Halloween” re-imagining is, let’s face it, not going to want to compete with too much because, again let’s face it, it will lose.
Plus horror movies released on or after Halloween (31 October) have a history of doing terrible. “Cursed”, “House of Wax”, “Dark Water”, “The Ring 2″, etc. All were slated for pre-Halloween releases; all were eventually released after and it hurt them bad. People don’t like going into November (which is when people start really thinking of Christmas) with horror movies because it rarely works out.

i have been waiting for this movie for about a year. if ur a true horror fan then u’ll appreciate this movie getting to the next generation of kids. this isnt a prequel or a sequel. its a semi-remake. none of the movies show his childhood. it just starts out as mike meyers the serial killer. this is the full story. Zombie could have made a halloween like Jason x but he didn’t. hes showing the true brutality of th mind and actions of mike meyers
August 31st, 2007 at 9:35 am
please dont go then…i think it is awesome that he has re invented the way michael myers grew up….we never did understand what made him who he was it will be fun…if you dont like it then go see all the other trash that comes out like spiderman 4,5,6,7 which has ruined the best comic ever made
