The Weinstein Co has finally released the theatrical trailer for Michael Moore’s new controversial documentary Sicko. The trailer seems to focus mostly on the horrifying stories of the real people who have been screwed by the profit motivated American healthcare industry. Everyone who has seen the film so far has said that these segments are sometimes heartbreakingly emotional. We also get to see Moore in a boat trying to bring 9/11 rescue workers with respiratory problems to the only American occupied place with free healthcare, Guantanamo Bay. Check it out after the jump.
Sicko hits theaters in the US on June 29th 2007.

As a Canadian, I could never imagine going to a ‘for profit’ medical system.
There are concerns with socialized healthcare [such a wait times] but the
Canadian government is improving them.
I am proud of the fact that every Canadian gets quality healthcare.
Also I have never heard anyone here say I wish we had a healthcare system
system like the States has.

Right on Canadian. The US Health Care system sucks balls. By the way, we in the US also have long wait times much of the time.
Overall on balance, the Canadian and western Europeans free health care for all is a much better and more humane system. Ironically, it is also cheaper. The for-profit health care system in the US will always put profits over people—even when it results in substandard care and death for patients (such as letting a patient die by denying them a life saving transplant because it is not covered in their over priced health care plan).
To the right wing nut jobs who cry this is “communism” I say bullshit! This is no more communism then public libraries or public schools.
