Now that the millennium has come and went, Hollywood is looking for the next big Doomsday date. And they have found it. December 21st 2012 is the last date on the ancient Mayan calendar. Many have theorized that the day is the last day before the end of the world. The Roman Catholic Saint Malachy predicted that the last Pope would arrive in 2012, inciting Judgment Day. Some UFO theorists claim 2012 is the year aliens invade Earth (a plot also featured in The X Files). Some scientists also speculate that a polar reversal will take place on earth, and that “once the earth starts rotating in the opposite direction, natural disasters of unknown proportions may occur.”
So far Michael Bay is already eyeing a 2012-based Sci-Fi film. And tonight it was announced that Nickelodeon/Paramount has hired Tom Dey (Failure to Launch) to direct a 2012-based family action-adventure. I’m sure more Hollywood studios will follow suit.
2012 is written by Failure to Launch and Get Smart scribes Tom J. Astle and Matt Ember. The story follows a family who goes on vacation in December 2012, just before the infamous Mayan calendar is set to end.
One of Michael Bay’s next films is supposedly an adaptation of sci-fi author Whitley Strieber’s forthcoming novel 2012: The War for Souls. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek XI) are reportedly producing and writing the screenplay. The novel is expected in book stores in September 2007.

The 2012 event is quickly approaching. Saint Malachy did make some amazing predictions since 1143 AD. The mayan calendar is also more accurate than the Gregorian calendar we use today. Why wait to prepare last minute for a possible disaster/emergency. Just wanted to note that the graphic is of course the Aztec calendar, which is functionally similar to the Maya calendar. I know how easy it is to confuse the
two, as in this example which would need changing. It has elements of both.

No doubt this will be a hot topic, but the actual equivalent Gregorian date may
be in 2011. Not so important in a film with artistic license, but in real life may
come as a surprise.

Saint Malachy never said the last pope would come in 2012. The lies are starting already. He listed the number of popes until the end-time, at which point their would be (going by memory) the destruction of the seven hills of Rome and the awful judge would come to judge the people. We’re on the next to last pope now. So 2012 might by chance be a general timeframe, but he didn’t give a date.

Who cares what legend says, the Mayan though it would be 2012 by a calenda they followed - the end of the world they said. WRONG! For them the end of the world came many, many centuries to early.
And the UFO fanatics? Yeah, they are really going to invade! Not much point in staying on the good side of all the other civilsations they have encoutered, after all they would only obliterate them for picking on the little guys.
And christianism? that is the most messed up and manipulative, lying religeon of them all! Goto church, be holy!…Ummm, wait a minute, the main man himself, Jesus, didn’t he says the church was all around us… as in not a building? As in not an institution where fear is created to control the masses in a false sense of worship? The church being all around us meaning as he said everyone was equal, like the Pope is a fraud and power hungry gimp kind of equal way?

Why do you people forget the light seen in the syk in the 18th century and the metor show which we saw in the 1999 the whole night sky light up and one satelite was down. the comming of armagaden is not far away as the metor showers which hit the earth is only the start of the bigger rocks from the star burst which happened 200 years. we could not avoid the metor showers by any chance and went out to see and could not do anything.
