I agree it should have been kept Egyptian, that's what mummies are all about, and I think if Rachel Weisz didn't feel she could DO the script, then fair enough, but it is a real shame, she IS Evie, and I loved her character. John Hannah, as mad as ever, but a great character. I think Alex is too old, he's supposed to be ten years older, so why isn't Rick ten years older?, he hasn't aged at all. I will give it the benefit of the doubt, and probably buy it just to have the trilogy, but I hope if they do make Mummy 4, Rachel comes back, along with Oded Fehr, and Arnold Vosloo.
