Harry Potter author JK Rowling has always said that the seventh Harry Potter Book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows) would be the last in the series. Apparently that might not be the last in the series after all. Okay, this story isn’t as juicy as it sounds.
“I might do an eighth book for charity, a kind of encyclopedia of the world so I could use all the extra material that’s not in the books,” Rowling told the press.
A representative for J.K. has confirmed this possibility. Christopher Little told The Sunday Telegraph that Rowling had “retained all the rights in the ‘Harry Potter’ series,” including any companion books “which she may indeed write herself.”
The author has extensive background books from the last 10 years that she does not want to go to waste. The book would probably be a Harry Potter encyclopedia, which would cover the many historical figures and places from the film series. While most people might complain that this is a double dip (or more accurately an eight dip), I think this is very novel idea. It would also be awesome to see the artist that creates the wonderful book covers contribute to the many historical illustrations.

jk rowling must write an eighth book! She could write one about the muggles discovering the wizards, or one about someone discovering the ring, or… (my favorite) a book from the perspective of the death eaters (preferably bellatrix, or voldemort).. hmm anyone like my ideas? oh.. or she could write a book on the maurenders… btw how does dumbledore get that scar?.. id love to read a bella/voldy book, or a remus/tonks… hah maybe its just too much fanfiction ;)

EEEP! I’m excited! I hope she goes through with it!
Even if it’s just an encyclopedia form. It’s still by J.K. Rowling, and it involves Harry and all the other characters!
Plus, we get some more questions asnwered. [x

A new Harry Potter, that would be SO AWESOME. She should write the story about harry comming back to life, by some magical spell, that Hermione uses. Then there could be even more books after that. AND J.K. could get more money.

Um, you obviously didn’t read the 7th book. Harry
Already came back to life. He didn’t really die.
Only part of him did.

Did any of you listen? She isn’t writing an actual story! She’s writing a book that has parts that were cut from the other books and has information on characters and places.Deathly Hallows was the last proper book.Get used to it!

OMG. she should do a book about the marauders, when voldemort took over during thier time leading up to the night that he tryed to kill harry. i think that’d be kick ass
anyone agree?

i agree with Naimh, it would be kiss ass to write a book about voldemort first coming to power. i guess ne way you see it there could be many different ways to keep the story going. and i would love to see more books, but will ne of these new ones take away from harry, and the original series?

Harry Potter is the best seires i have ever read. Five minutes ago ,literally, i finished the last book and I WANT MORE HARRY POTTER!!!! You could make it about Voldemort not dying and that there was another horcrux and/or he has one of his death eaters(bellatrix would have been perfect if Mrs. Weasley didnt kill her) try and take over as leader and try to kill Harry. Or one of his friends betray him…

Sounds like she’s trying to copy Christopher Tolkien’s labours.
More power to her, though, if the populi bite.
