this site is where a SOLID script for X-Men 4: Fall of the Mutants is. The synopsis is as follows:

The effects of the Mutant Cure were only temporary, which again, sends the governments of the world in to a panic, knowing that Magneto or someone or some group like him, will bring the human world to its knees. Feeling that the Mutant Cure was a more humane way of dealing with mutants, a secret faction of the United States government, led by Bolivar Trask, has designed a much more permanent cure: annihilation of the mutant race by way of 12-story tall robots also known as Sentinels.

From rectifying flubs in X3, to introducing a slew of characters without getting boggy, and even a hint at an "Avengers" spin-off, I put a lot of love into this believing this franchise doesn't have to suck after one 'meh' movie... Now if only someone BIG could see this... *wishes upon a lucky star*...

this has nothing to do with this. But here's my x4 plot:

"Begins with the Xavier voice over, as the beginning credits show, we go into Cerebro to open up into a hospital, where Xavier wakes up in Dr. Moria MacTaggart's sight, they give their greetings, as it zooms into Cerebro again to go into A Simulation battle scene envolving Wolverine, Storm, Beast, Colussus, Gambit, Shadowcat, Rogue, Iceman, and Angel. The Simulation ends with Storm electricuting robots as a flood of water passes over them. The scene fades, as it goes to show Magneto sitting in a park playing chess by himself. He moves a piece of chess, and brings it too him. He smiles, and gets up to leave, add dialogue. Then, a car drives up to the Mansion, as some mysterious man approaches the door, it appears to be Xavier as he shakes Logan and Storm's hands, and introduces them to Moria. Soon, Rogue's blast of the cure begins to wear off. Rogue regains her powers unknown, as she kisses Bobby and notices he is hurt. She finds she regained her powers, and tells Xavier. Xavier fears Magneto's regained his powers too, and knows a new war is brewing. Soon, Task creates the Sentinels.
Magneto finds Pyro unharmed as he discovers Bobby took his body and put it in a cave. They go off to create a new brotherhood. Meanwhile, Storm stays awake that night, as she remembers Jean's Dark Phoenix destruction. As she thinks, the mansion is envaded with Sentinels. Wolverine and Storm get all the kids to leave, as Colussus, Rogue, Iceman, and Angel stay to fight them off. Jubilee also stays with them, as they manage to destroy most. They all escape through a trap door, and hide their as Wolverine, Beast, Storm, and (no one knowing) Gambit stays behind and fights the Sentinels.
Soon, Magneto and Pyro break into a mutant prison in New Hampshire, and descover the mutants Multiple Man, Avalanche, Blob, and Quicksilver. They all agree to join, and the scene fades to the next morning, as a stranger comes to the mansion. It's Scott, he claims that he survived the Dark Phoenix kiss, and ran into the woods. Soon, he gets into a fight with Xavier, and leaves to go see his brother. The scene then fades to Trask and the Sentinels, as a guard watches, the Sentinels turn agaisnt the humans, and kill them, and kidnap Trask. flying off and taking him somewhere.
The scene then goes to Magneto as they find Juggernaut survived as did Phat, and Toad from the first film. They join and the scene fades to Emma Frost's Acadamy of Tommorrow. We are introduced to Polaris, Cannonball, Wolfsbane, and Scotts's brother, Havok. They talk for a while, as the scene goes to Magneto planning to destroy the X-Men once and for all.
Wolverine escapes the mansion and runs to find the wereabouts of Magneto, he discovers that they plan to destroy them, and runs only to be captured by Spike, Phat, and Multiple Man. They take him to Magneto. Magneto has a conversation with him, as Wolverine escapes, and kills Blob. He slices at Multiple man, but only kills his duplticates, and he runs off. Spike runs too, as Magneto tortures Logan, and leaves him for dead.
The scene then switches to Emma Frost having a conversation with Scott about Jean's death, that he needs to fight with the X-Men, or he'll lose them too, that she's seen Magneto's army. He nods, and turns to Haviok, and nods to him. Havok walks off. Wolverine informs the X-Men of Magneto's army, they all get in the X-Jet, and fly to the place of attack. They are outnumbered, until in the distance, they spot Scott, leading Polaris, Havok, Emma Frost, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Bishop, Sunfire, Dazzler, Psyche, Karma, Rictor, and Prodigy. Along with a million more. They all fight the Bortherhood, and in the end destroy Magneto finally. Polaris and Havok agree to join the X-Men, as Emma Frost disappears. Everyone else leaves, and soon Sentinels attack the X-Men. Thye destroy the Sentinels, and go to the facility were they were made, and destroy them, and find Trask dead. They return to the mansion unharmed, and it ends knowing there will be a fifth."

I have no great love or affection for X-Men 3: The Last Stand or Zak Penn's contribution to the script, but I'm always willing to give him (and other screenwriters) some leeway since they're working inside the studio system on a franchise property. His name might be on the credits, but how many uncredited writers worked on the script? How much did the producers "contribute" to the final product? If there's blame, then let's spread it around.

As for Last Action Hero, yep, it was mediocre, but let's not forget who headlined it, Arnold himself. At the time, he was practically a producer on his films, asking for and getting script changes to fit his action persona. I'm curious as to what the original screenplay looked like. How many changes were made? Who made them? Who's to blame for its failure? Screenwriters don't get much respect in Hollywood and they definitely don't get the power (unless they're producing and directing and even then, not as much as they probably should have).
