Live Free or Die Hard

Die Hard, Die Hard 2: Die Harder, and Die Hard with a Vengeance have only a few things in common. Bruce Willis, John McClane, and the action packed R-Rating. But it now appears that Live Free or Die Hard might be going the PG-13 route, thanks to studio pressure. According to AICN, Willis was initionally disappointed that Live Free or Die Hard would likely be cut to get a PG-13 Rating. Bruce, say it isn’t so!

“I really wanted this one to live up to the promise of the first one, which I always thought was the only really good one,” Willis told Vanity Fair. “That’s a studio decision that is becoming more and more common, because they’re trying to reach a broader audience. It seems almost a courageous move to give a picture an R rating these days. But we still made a pretty hardcore, smashmouth film.’

Is it me, or are movie executives getting dumber and dumber? The popcorn crowd wants to see R-Rated action and horror flicks. The comedy crowd wants more R-Rated comedies. Yet they feel that a PG-13 would pull more money just because of age demographics. They might think this is a good business decision but I’m sure they could make a hell of a lot more money with a good R-rated action flick than a PG-13 effort with most of the punches pulled. The audience will notice, and not show up (or at least in theory - Wild Hogs still baffles me). Fox, take notice: don’t piss off your core audience.

If you can only drop one F bomb in a PG13 movie it better be Yippee Ki Ay Motherfucker!! And if it cant be in that context….. Im not seeing it

PG13 die hard is unacceptable. That would be worse than the creation of Alien vs Predator.

If the movie goes PG13 I will not go to the theater to watch it but rent it at the
local Blockbuster. With the advent of HDTVs and surround sound system only
certain movies NEED to be seen on the Big screen. An R rated DH4 would be one
    of them.
