Rob Cohen estará tras las cámaras y un tal Luke Ford será el protagonista principal del film… si, junto a Brendan Fraser, pero protagonista principal al fin y al cabo. Tras el anuncio oficial de Rachel Weisz de que no iba a participar en el film, este nuevo anuncio genera las primeras dudas sobre el proyecto. Luke Ford es conocido por… por… ¿por? El argumento colocará a un teenager Alex O’Connel viajando con su padre a China y al Himalaya donde descubrirán la tumba de un emperador momia (Jet Li) maldecido por una maga chunga (Michelle Yeoh). A ver que sale, Cohen ha comentado que la intención de este cambio es poder dejar la saga abierta y enfocada al nuevo personaje… pfff.
