The film leaves many of our concerns unanswered. Where were the parents hiding.? WAS there of disis\dents at work here? Where were the mother and child going afteer the reunion? Did the fathee servive? While allthese matters are pertinent and would have brought closure to the tale, the curiosities that remain, only mildly touch on the obvious sesitivis and nuances of the sports metaphore and the heart-felt relationships made by Mauro, the film's protagonist. This is a brilliant film, flawlessly acted

The fantastic Brazilian film rediates with humanity. The acting is sensantional, story powerful, and there are truely great moving moments that make this film triumphant. Representing Brazil at the 2008 Oscars, it will not surprise me if it wins. I've seen it twice, and the second time was just as fresh and gripping experience as the first.
