Crank writer/directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine revealed to John over at TMB, that there will be another Crank movie. The big catch: it will be a SEQUEL!
“There will be a sequel to Crank yes. Prepare to Crank again. And you know the “is it a sequel or prequel” question… IT’S A SEQUEL. We’re not selling out and going prequel. We are picking up where the last movie left off.”
Crank was actually one of my guilty pleasures of 2006. The film followed a poisoned hit-man Chev Chelios who must keep his adrenaline in an upper level to stay alive in a nonstop journey for revenge. It was an fun popcorn action flick. But a Crank sequel? I’m not saying I’m not up for it, I’m just wondering how can this be possible? Those of you who have seen the movie know what I mean. I just don’t know how they could continue the story without introducing some cheap gimmick. But if that’s not the case, I’m all for the sequel.

That scene on the streets of Chinatown…I laffed my ass off for hours. I picked up te movie thinking that it would be another martial art/action flick that he does, but it was a nice surprise. Didn’t quite know what to think of it. However it did have Pedro as a tranny!

If anyone else noticed, during a few scenes there were some out of sequence shots that may have hinted that everything after his visiting his doctor friend was a dream. There are a few couple-second frames, one in which he evens says something along the lines of, “I owe you again, doc.” and he appears to be laying on his girlfriend’s couch.

Well actually, the reason why a sequel is possible is because:
I don’t know if this is true, but it is rumored that when he was in the taxi and that jamaican guy gave him that “haitian shit” that is “strong shit” as he says, and Chev begins tripping out immediately… well, rumor has it that everything after he woke up from that, was a hallucination.

I believe what you guys should do is make him keep living, since at the end when he fell of the helicopter, his adrenaline was still high, and his eye’s blinked and his heart was still beating what you could do, is make the police find him and take him to the hospital then as soon as he wakes up in the hospital make him try to get away and kill the rest of the people that tried to kill him, or come up with more action to make him do.

I think it was a great film, funny and great action scenes.
The Most funny parts for me were how he was all buzzin and
fightin people then when he was with his girlfriend all nice and
normal lol. I dont kno what way they gonna do it but they gotta
have jason statham in it still and chev still alive otherwise i cant
see it being as good film as the 1st. ricky is dead thou so i dont kno
who he would go after or wether people would come after chev or wot

I’m pretty sure he’s in a coma because the doctor told him that even if he injecetd Chev with that stuff he would slip into a coma. I’m guessing they make it so that everything after the doctor’s office is a dream and that he wakes up from like a days coma and then goes after them, somehow not dying, then continuing the movie from there.

Heh, what about the possibility that his Girlfriend goes psycho with
revenge in mind? Yeah, it’s a possibility he survives, but really, a 1000+
foot fall from a helicopter? Nobody would survive that.
The dream thing is a definate possibility, but iffy. I’m going to have to
re-watch the movie to check out for those weird scenes you guys have
been describing.

I think that thing about the Haitian drug is a good possibility, not so sure about the coma though. Either way, Jason Statham has to be in it, or so I hope. Looking forward to more of that hilarious sex that actually saves his life. Who would of thought of a way that sex can save you? At the end, it seemed kinda lame because you can see like his nose move a little when he is suppose to be dead, and then you see him blink which is cool, but right after that you see him move his body somewhat like he is about to get up and ask the director “How was that?” What I am trying to say is that it just seemed like he stood still fine but then the producers just left a second more of the film in the movie and it just looked really sloppy.

The end did seem particularly trippy what with the elevator bit, all the girls in the bubbles and that weird clip where the news reporter just stares at the screen without saying anything!! In any case, a sequel would be fantastic and i reckon it’ll start with chelios in hospital after the fall, cos there are a couple of incidents in real life of people fallin really far and surviving!

Chelios doesn’t die. He blinks after he hits the ground. Too much adrenaline in his system for that fall to kill him is what they are going off of.

Also, i would like to note that the people going off the theory that the part after the office is a dream due to coma are wrong, he opts out of the stuff that will sustain him for weeks while putting him in a coma, and takes a treatment that will only last him 4 hours, hence the insulin injector.

the “BAH” noise on the rooftop is in corrolation with carlito calling chev a goat. If you watch the “Cranked out Version” on the DVD they talk about the “Haitian Shit” knocking out chev b/c it was some “hardcore shit” and that everything after the taxi “might not have happened” and they say that Crank 2 might just start from the taxi.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaybe there was too much adrenaline but also it could be that the fall counteracted the adrenaline in some way so when he hit the ground he was cured with just enough adrenaline to keep him alive. Not realistic at all but hey what the fuck was realistic about the first one?! THAT was why I loved it so much.

Wow, anyone else notice that most people aren’t reading each others posts here? I just read the whole thread and most people are focused on the fact you “hear his heartbeat” and “see him blink.”.
on that note, lets go into documented scientific studies that the human body can continue to function for minutes and sometimes hours after its death. Mainly, that the body can continue to move (ie. twitch/move) after death since the nervous system doesn’t quite shut down as fast.
On a second note; anyone bother searching anything on the sequel through the internet? I have, and know what? All it brings up are suspected rumors from BEFORE the release, and a few extended rumors from after the release. Nothing recent, and by the way, correct me if I’m wrong, but provide proof of how I’m wrong while you’re at it.
Fact of the matter is, if there’s a sequel, there are way more than one possible outcomes to this, and it’d be better to discuss the possibilities instead of acting like monkeys who are fighting over a non-existant banana.
Personally, I would find it way more logical that it was a hallucination, rather than my previous post claiming girlfriend goes psycho. Still, I think she’d be hot with a .22 cal rifle. LOL.
so, can we move on and stop discussing dead/alive and maybe try to get some depth into this discussion?

Crank” co-directors Brian Taylor and Mark Neveldine have confirmed a sequel to their 2006 Jason Statham hit action film.
According to Empire Online, the directors address the fact the character apparently is seen falling to his death at the end of the first film.
Taylor says “Crank 2 will pick up exactly where Crank one ends. It’s a true sequel. Jason Statham will return. It’s not a prequel, it’s not his brother, it’s not a dream sequence. He will [scrape himself off the floor]“.
“It’s going to be more sexual, more violent - more of everything. We realize with a movie like Crank, you can’t do a sequel and do 60% or 70% of what the original was. You have to go twice as hard. So that’s what we’re going to do. If we’re going to live up to the first one with the sequel - we’re taking it WAY past the point of the first one,” adds Taylor.

Guys if they are even considering making Titanic 2 (which they are, Jack’s back!) then there is no doubt that they can do a Crank sequel because Crank had such an open ending. I mean if these sequels are made then any character from any film can be brought back from the dead in a sequel. They’re evn bringing Tony Almeida back in 24 season 7 and we SAW him die. So make no mistake, Chev Chelios will return with some ridiculous explanation to his survival.

Okay. I only have one comment that you morons can chew on here. They were in a helicopter at the end of the movie. Right? And that chopper gained MAYBE 25,000 feet in a matter of seconds. NOT POSSIBLE. The distance he fell in correlation to the time they were airborne was IMPOSSIBLE. It took him maybe 1 minute to fall out the chopper with the mexican dude in tow. A little chopper like that would have been MAYBE at 700 to 1000 feet in that little time. So you’re telling me that this dude had time to stare at the clouds…then calmly pull out his phone and say goodbye to his woman…all the while falling at terminal velocity which is 140 mph for a human body from 1000 feet.
Because of this SIMPLE fact….I support the theory that he is tripping BALLS on that haitian shit in the back of a cab for that whole Goddamn sequence.

Having read all of this there are several key points completely missed.
I’m not as nerdy as most of you to look into terminal velocity of a human being in order to calculate the height. Nor am I going to go into depth on anatomy.
However, what I do know, regardless if he is alive or dead, is that a fall from any height resulting in a landing as he did will result in massive internal injuries and no amount of adrenaline will prevent brain damage, paralysation and internal organ damage. So please stop arguing about whether he could have survived or not as it is irrelevant.
Having searched the net myself, I can confirm some of the posts above. It will continue where the last film left off, no dream sequence or twin brother etc. Secondly the plot revolves around his heart being replaced and he requires regular electrical shocks to jump start his mechanical one (oh dear, why bother just take the heart and leave him for dead!).

sorry buy everyone points out that he blinked when he lied on the ground?, noone ever thought of that it’s may just be a reflex? You catch a fish and lay it on the deck, twists it neck and it still flinches from time to time? I mean a small blink when he died can just be a twitch in the system, the brain doesn’t stop sending impulses long after the person itself is dead. I think the blink is just added there for “the feeeling in the movie” Don’t think they are so stupid and will make it so easy for them selves to start the movie from there. THat would be just lame. Heres what PROBLABLY happened:Chev takes the hatian drugs and falls out…then hallucinates the rest of the movie..then in the sequel he wakes up in the taxi.(the rest is just my oppinion)
he goes up to meet carlito and ends up gettin messed up,but still killing carlito and the other guy. the only way for him to survive is for the hospital to do surgery on his heart.he wakes up,knowing people will come after him he runs.The get-up is that he has to keep an electrical charge in his heart to keep going.Or with all ther drugs and adrenaline from befor messed him up real bad and he has a bad heart…its somethin deallin wit his hearty

well…since my aunt actually worked on the flick, becuase of the adreniline soo high, his heart rejolts itsself and he lives on……and it isnt extremly far fetched, becuase it has happened in real life, a guyu fell out of a jumper once and his chute didnt work and he landed the 10000 feet down….and the only thing was he was shaken up and broke his arm.

Well, personally I have absolutely no idea. All of you peoples ideas have completely numbed me, even though I do lean towards the fact that he for some stupid reason survived since they said that the movie starts off from the first ones ending.
The first movie is my number one action movie, ever, and I’ve seen a lot of movies. Matrix is good but is nowhere as focused on the genre as Crank is, it’s an action movie where the unnecessary drama is completely skipped.

I believe the movie was intended to end with Chev dead after bouncing off a car onto the asphalt. There are so many reasons why Chelios should be dead but no matter…
It is yet another forced [but true] sequel but I’m still up for it.
