Sometimes I really don’t understand the internet. One of the big stories going around the web this week was Sam Raimi confirming a Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6. I really don’t understand how this is news considering Sony optioned six films way back when (when exactly I’m not sure, but I’ve found articles stating this all the way back in 2004). But since Raimi’s new comment has refueled interest in this area, let’s explore.
A Spider-Man 4 will happen, with or without the current director and or cast. Sure, Sony would love to have the full team return, but that might not be possible. It’s a Hollywood version of Jenga, you pull one block out and they all fall. Kirsten Dunst has said that she won’t return unless both Tobey and Sam also sign on. Tobey has been on and off again about his comments, but has ultimately said that he could only be interested if Sam came back. And no one knows if Raimi will return. The director has spent a lot of time on the series (five years to be exact). Another film would be a 2-3 year investment. Internet rumors say that New Line would like to sign the director for The Hobbit, an adaptation which must happen soon, and would prevent Sam from helming the fourth Spidey flick. And remember, if Sam is out, Tobey is out. If both Sam and Tobey is out, Kirsten is out. And even if Sony wanted to bring the whole team back, could they afford it?
Spider-Man 3 is expected to be a huge hit. I’m sure all the people involved will demand even bigger contracts. Tobey was supposedly offered $20 million to sign on for a fourth film. At the end of the day, Sony spent over $300 million on the third film. This means the film will have to make $600 million at the box office and a couple million on DVD to break even. Don’t get me wrong, it will break even, but it’s more about the long haul than you would think. Could a fourth film be profitable with bigger egos demanding even more cash? And I’m sure the FX budget would also expand.
Production president Matt Tolmach told EW, “We’re making Spider-Man 4. Our hope, dream, and intention is to do it with Sam…. But I don’t have a crystal ball.” The truth of the matter is, Sony is going to go ahead with or without Sam, Kirsten and Tobey.
And what’s planned for the next one? Producer Avi Arad says there’s a story idea and an old-school villain lined up.

………Hmm..Ok, Maybe its because I’m not a famous movie star, but push artistic credibility aside and you have 20 mill for the flick. But then again, All the Spiderman movies are in fact beautiful artisitries that don’t just push the envelope of cinematic excellence but also depth in character development and deepening the creases of the story arc. Tobey Mac can do side projects if feels the need to polish his integrity and dignity and not feel like the sell out we would all love to be.
I will say it here and now as well. Sam Raimi will stay on for more…and its not just the moeny, I believe he has a personal affection for this series and doesnt want to see it pull a 180 and have it called SPIDERMAN FOREVER all in neon….no no no we have to believe that this wont be like the peter jackson fiasco with the hobbit….

I love Spidey 1 and 2, and already have tickets for 3. Sam Raimi has set the bar on how important
story and acting quality on historically “throw away” comic book movies. If only the whole of
Hollywood would take his cue…
That said, I’d be more delighted if Raimi and the ket cast took off now, while they’re ahead. Raimi
should try and reinvent another genre, or take on another franchise that needs some CPR.
Let someone else come in with their vision of Spider-Man - and don’t let it go to some first time
feature director, but instead someone with credibility who might find keeping up with Raimi’s
success a challenge.
The strength in comic books often comes from seeing different storylines from different artists and writers - nows a great time to pass the torch on Spidey, instead of waiting for a box office flop.

Hey!!! Spidey fans Spiderman 3 is just 1 day away tomorrow is Thursday May 3, 2007. Spiderman 3 is going to rock the socks off of conventional theaters and Imax. About Spiderman 4 bring it on More Venom and bring in Carnage I love him he is a cool symbiote villain like his pop Venom. My kid brother told me that Venom will be shown for about 10 minutes that is a joke for an All-Star villain like Venom and before that he was commented to be in sm3 for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
Spiderman 3 is 140 minutes 2hrs 20 minutes same length as Batman Begins. That should be plenty of time to give Venom at least 45 minutes to 1 hour. Sandman and New Goblin will cover alot of screen time as well as Symbiote Spiderman Tobey Maguire’s dark alter-ego. I think Jake Busey, Jim Carrey, or Jake Gyllenhaal can play Cletus Kassady/Carnage for Spider-man 4; I heard that Spiderman 4 will be released in 2009, Kirsten Dunst said probably 2011, it would take four years because Sam Raimi is super tired filming three Spiderman films in a row. My prediction Spiderman 4 would come out in 2009 wilth Superman:The Man of Steel. The Superman sequel will begin production I read at Superherohype website March of 2008. But, other sources, saifd mid-late 2008. The villains I choose are Brainiac, Metallo, Parasite and Livewire or Bizarro.

Well It took alot of money for Spider-Man 3 and If they make a Spider-Man 4 then It may go to 1 billion dollars! But why would they make it if Tobey, Kirsten, and Sam Raimi weren’t coming back? Who would be the new main director? Who would play Spider-Man/Peter Parker? Who would play Mary Jane Watson? Well It will be just fine if the money is right and Sam Raimi, Tobey, and Kirsten came back It will be awesome If they make 3 more movies of Spider-Man!

Ok, I have a few things, first of all, if Kirsten and Tobey do not come back Spiderman has one card that can be played in order to not expect the fans to buy the concept of a completely different human being playing the role of peter parker, the answer to this…Ben Reilly.
Now don’t stone me to death yet, hear me out! I know it would be one fuck of an adjustment but did anyone buy Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne after Michael keaton, what about George Clooney? If the next guy sucks, perhaps Tobey would get the break he needs while our Ben Reilly is sucking and he can come back more celebrated than ever and we can see Spiderman vs…spider-carnage!!!!!. plus scarlet spider/new Spiderman fans will get to see a character none of them would have ever thought would have any chance of making the screen.
that aside, Jillenhall as carnage would be a disaster, please don’t go there! Jim Carrey is too old and reeks of riddler stink! My choices for carnage are none other than Dane cook, the villain from die another day (he’s probably #1) The guy who played the main villain in underworld evolution, or a no name actor who is just so damn demented that he’d fit the role upon casting call (Andy circus might not be a bad choice either, but he’d have to go on the rice kernel a day diet and die his hair orange).
I actually heard someone suggest kraven in a film. That one had my sides splitting!
electro would be another example of a Hollywood movie shift gone completely wrong (take your pick of them, wolverine, bulls eye, green goblin a, and b etc) because there is no way anyone is going to take that mask seriously in a movie. Mysterio is good, but not great, and the lizard is probably a must but due to over portrayal of onscreen lizards in the past, he’s gonna need help.
That’s where carnage comes in. You see, despite the snide banter of jaded old school fans, carnage will be ramie and the sony pictures powers that be’s apology to us hardcore venom/symbiote fans (who make up a great percentage of the spidey fan base like it or not). for dropping the ball at the last minute with a character who obviously needed to live into the next film.
You see, you old school kids had your fun with oc, goblin and sandman, but at this time when the days of spider sequels are numbered we of the late eighties/ and early/late nineties generation would like our piece of the movie pie and ten to fifteen minutes of poorly developed venom is simply unacceptable.
carnage was always better than venom, and they can get that symbiote on Cassidy in the first twenty minutes of that film leaving Spiderman enough time to chase the lizard around while Cassidy is tallying up that infamous carnage murder record.
I think Spiderman 3 treaded dark territory and there were various aspects of the dark essence of this film I did find appealing. Us late eighties/nineties fans were given a Spiderman that wasn’t all webs and giggles there is allot of dark history in these comics regarding this character and venom and carnage have had allot to do with that.
Ill tell you right now, if carnage is not in this film I’m going to take that as ramie telling my generation, and the generation of spidey fans that came after me who all got a healthy well developed dose of venom and carnage, to fuck off!
He did it with the poorly developed venom of part three already so if he does it again I will have no problem returning the favor by not seeing his old school biased movie. I’m sure I wont be the only one in this.
(also, the scarlet spider thing was only a small sugestion, I myself have doubts to weather or not it could work but it is an option)

Peter puts on the black suit and goes emo and starts dancing around everywhere
like john travolta in saturday night fever (yes thats right like theres a 15 min dance sequence after he gets the black suit)
Venom is in the movie for all of 5-10 min and looks terrible,
Sandman probably had the best part but again was only there for maybe 20 min tops..
The entire movie was more or less an episode of 90210 with peter crying about MJ and dealing with relationship problems (which was not only done in a shorter amount of time but was also done better in spiderman 2)…
It was such a piece of shit, the cgi was terrible making the action sequences look like you were watching an episode of beast wars, i caught like maybe 5 plotholes, and the entire movie felt like that one scene in spiderman 1 where the new yorkers were throwing garbage at the green goblin and saying corny shit
someone needs to go tell these asshole directors that they cant keep up fucking up our super hero based movies

Kazuyashock I kind of, agree with you Spiderman 3 was a very good movie, but I didn’t expect Venom to get the smallest scene out of Dark Spiderman, Sandman and New Goblin. Venom is an all-star character and deserves better treatment for the film. Venom needs to return in Spiderman 4 to introduce Carnage for the next film. Yes, Sam Raimi needs to de better, than he has with the Spiderman films since, 2002. The people of the 70s/80s and 90s want Carnage and use less of the old classic villains to be fair to all of the Spiderman fans. Spiderman 3s production salary was about the same or less than Superman Returns and Superman Returns of 2006 still had way better special and visual effects than Spiderman 3. Sm3s special and visual effects were excellent but, compared to SR it was nothing I think Superman Returns costed alot more than SM3 to make you guys remeber the remodeled Fortress of Solitude, New modeled Metropolis and New Kryton’s creation at the end Spiderman does’t compare at all to all of this.
Bryan Singer may very well, do a way better job than Sam Raimi alter the storylines less and bringing more of the Comic book to light. Do you guys and girls agree with me that Superman Returns had better Special and visual effects you can’t say no, because you’ve seen it for yourself to say yes. The Video game was probably more graphic based than SM3. we have it on PS2 and it doesn’t look as good as the next-gen versions Spiderman 3 was designed for the next macchines anyway. if you want to comment to Kevin feel free everyone!!!

Keep the same directer and crew.do keep dunst and tobey. because they have a story together we are all used to them. if you change them you wont get as much money and people want to see the first spider-man the answer tobey and the same mary jane the answer is kristin dunst.it’s just not right!

Listen now I don’t know about anyone else, but I do know that if Tobey and Kirsten aren’t the stars of Spidey 4 then me and my friends are certianly not going to see it. It could be the greatest movie ever, it’s just the principle of being loyal to the original spiderman. Making a movie with a new cast, how is that even possible to completely change a cast three movies into the project. Will anyone wanna see the next instalment. I feel that it’s a bit much to make more than a trilogy but if you are you deffinatly have to have the same cast, or at least the important people, such as the two main characters. I feel that it’s disrespectful to both the fans and to Stan Lee, you can’t start a great project and give up half way through. Iether have it with Tobey and kIRSTEN OR DUNT HAVE IT AT ALL!

First off Im pissed that venom didn’t even get a decent role in the overall movie. I mean they got Venom as a cheesy thug-like villain( teaming up with sandman!)instead of the calculating villain who servrs as spiderman’s shadow (no pun intended) who has a sort of double mentality, as in going after those he considers to be his enemies, and being the true hero. Also He said the stupidest line in the whole trilogy so far (as he touches MJ and says “My Spider Sense is tingling… if you know what i mean.” Idiotic, vulgar and unnessesary! THe movie was subpar, funny parts, crappy ending, and weak villains, oh and short and cheesy action scenes. Also Venom Was way too small, and his tongue is supposed to be longer than Gene Simmons!!!!

It will not be the same without Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst (Cutie Pie) you know the drill. Spiderman 4 will lean more towards Bryce Dallas Howard (Gwen Stacy) and James Cromwell’s (Captain George Stacy’) storylines that’s fine from the new that one has red about. But that still does not excuse Venom and Carnage not being, involved with the next installment. Sam Raimi make the fans happy, by doing the right thing do not alter the story so much, stick to the comic books and Spiderman will be okay!!! ONes choice next to Topher Grace’s Edwrard Brock, Jr./Venom for Cletus Kassady/Carnage one chooses Zachary Quinto/Gabriel Sylar from the hot television show of Heroes. This man is brilliant the next Jim Carrey he can pull of anything psychopathic individual you can think of. Anthony Hopkins did it for the Silence of the Lamb series. Christian Bale did for American Psycho and Michael Keaton did it for Pacific Heights and Desperate Measures Keaton is one of my favorite actors next to Bill Murray (Ghostbusters series). How many of of you think Zach Quinto can pull off the Carnage character I don’t care what my little brother and his friends said about, Zachary Quinto looking like Clark Kent which he does not. He looks like Jim Carrey even acts like hiom when he taks. One scene on the final episode he says “Boom” as the world prepares for Armageddon. I think Hayden Panettiere would fit nicely, as Supergirl she’s near 21 and is a beautiful talented actress love you Hayden!!! Kevin loves you so much!!!

To treat a character as signifigant as Venom like an afterthought is a
crime. There was more screen time of dead uncle ben! Mr Rami…Perhaps
taking some time to actually study your subject matter would help! If you
have ever read the comic at all, you would realize that Venom should have
been portayed as a dark, powerful, looming, goliath of a monster that made
sandman look like a wuss (not the other way around). Fans like myself
waited and waited and waited for someone to do a Spidey vs. Venom flick.
This was a sore disappoinment! Now that they’ve killed Venom, how can
they explain a comeback which would be needed to correctly tell the
Carnage story? They blew it! On another note, could they have made
Parker be any more of a dork? Compared to the first two movies, he
really acted like a spineless crybaby. I felt like this movie was a soap
opera with an occasional super hero/villan in it. Read the book, Rami!

News of James Marsden (Cyclops;Scott Summers) XMEN 1-3 and Richard White Superman Returns is set to appear in Spiderman 4 in 2009. James would look more like Matt Gargan/Scorpion than Cletus Kassady/Carnage. Zachary Quinto/Gabriel Sylar star from Heroes would be a better fit for Carnage he play’s a genious telepathich serial killer in Heroes and would gladly be the next Jim Carrey playing the Spiderman villain icon. I vote Zachary Quinto for Carnage and James Marsden for Scorpion. James has the talent to play a bad guy I just don’t see him playing Carnage. What do you guys and lovely, girls think feel me.

Sometime, this year Chris Nolan will show a teaser trailer of The Dark Knight . The sequel to Superman Returns is Superman:The Man of Steel and a teaser for that will be made sometime next year. William Fichtner could play the power hungry Brainiac for the sequel. other, villains mentioned were Metallo, Parasite and I would go with Mongul I guess. Ohhhhhhhhhhh!!! Kevin Spacey will return as Lex Luthor he was brillaint the next Gene Hackman, Brandon Routh the next Christopher Reeve(Superman, Heath Ledger the next Jack Nicholson(The Joker) and Chrsitian Bale the nxt Michael Keaton(Batman). The only reason Venom had a short part in Spidy 3 is becouse they wouldn’t

Well, Dylan if Sam Raimi decides to stay we will see Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst come back for the next three installments. Hello: Liam Spiderman 3 is headed to the dollar movie before, coming to DVD later this summer or fall into the wintr time. I hope it comes out in August that would be nice, in time for my bday. I hope they confirm Scorpion, Carnage who I’m dying to see next in Spiderman 4 and sam Raimi can bring in Electro and Vulture in the next film series. Oh!!! Lizard needs to appear next also, Stan Lee wants Dylan Baker to becme THe Lizard in the next film I totally agree.

I just noticed the new choice for Mary jane-Watson was my girl Hayden Panettiere I think she would be great as MJ in the next three Spidermans and beyond if she chooses to stay. She is also great in Heroes as Claire Bennett-Petrelli she needs to kick some serious butt in the upcoming seasons. I also, see Hayden playing Brandon Routh’s cousin in Superman:The Man of Steel she is a true Supergirl standing up for herself and others risking her life. I love her alot and want to meet her.

ok, i just have to say Spidey 3 was a good movie all around, but they should have ended it way better. And seriously, they might as well not bother coming out with a 4th one if they are all not willing to come back. I wasnt psyched about Tobey when the first movie came out, but now it would be so awkward without either of them. So please dont replace them!!!!!

This is my first time doing any of this internet blogging bullshit, but when it comes to spiderman 3 and 4, i have to intervine…
Tobey was great in 1 and 2, then Rami got sloppy in 3 and it all went down hill. WTF was up with the 15 minute dance seen with EMO/GAY Peter? and then all that other B.S. with Harry and MJ and the cooking and gay music? WTF? If it was to show their relationship/ to get Peter mad, i could’ve been explained in a 5-6 second shot of peter swinging onto a nearby rooftop and looking down to see Harry eating (Fucking) with MJ in Junior’s. -CUT!-END SCENE.
And they couldve done better with Venom, like giving him at least all the screen time they spent bullshitting in those dance scenes. Parker could’ve been a little bit less gay and he didn’t have to be such a PUSSY either. He spent half the film crying and pimp slapping that hoe in the apartment til she gave him cookies “with nuts and milk! BITCH!@#$%^&*”
Spiderman 4, if they make it, which they probably will should have the following cast.

Hey!!! Don P. Keira Knightly as Mary Jane She is beautiful I think she is the next Sigourney Weaver very clean, presetene and gorgeous. I loved her in THe Pirates of The Carribean films as Elizabeth Swann. Dane Cook, I don’t know who this guy is, but My choice for Cletus Kassady/Carnage would be Jim Carry, Zacahry Quinto, Matthew Lillard and Edward Norton. I could also, fit Michael Keaton and Christian Bale into the rolle as well maybe, even Brandon Routh.

Chaos God56, alot of people think Tobet Maguire and Kirsten Dunst suck as Peter Parker/Spiderman and Mary Jane-Watson in the movie and want to see them replaced, many others think that they were the best choice to play those characters. I think that Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dusnt are fantastic stars. Kirsten, has been in over 60 different films since she was very young and right now, she is fighting her despression illness I guess over that jerk ex boyfriend Orlando Bloom he used, to date Kate Bosworth Brandon Routh’s sweethaer girlfriend in Superman Returns. Anyway, there are many other fantastic actors that can play Spiderman. My choice, would be Milo Ventimiglia and someone mentioned Hayden Panettiere as Mary Jane-Watson Hayden can play the role, but Hayden can also play Supergirl the beautiful strong female cousin of Superman.
So, I think Marvel should start fresh and have new casts for the next three installements there can be some previous faces such as, Rosemary Harris who played, Aunt May in the first three films. J.K Simmons as JJ, Jameson, Bill Nunn as Joseph “Robbie Robertson, Elizabeth Banks as Betty Brant, Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy, James Cromwell as Captain George Stacy and Topher Grace as Edward Brock, Jr/Venom returning. New Villains, Dylan Baker as Dr. Curtis Conners/The Lizard, Jennifer Love Hewitt as Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, and Zachary Quinto as Cletus Kassady/Carnage.
