As you’ve probably read, Johnny Depp is currently filming Tim Burton’s big screen adaptation of Sweeney Todd. Someone caught Depp outside the set in full wardrobe and make-up.

Depp plays the villainous barber and serial killer in which the musical is named after. His weapon of choice is a straight razor, with which he cuts his victim’s throats.

Sweeney Todd hits theaters on December 21st 2007.

Hmm, is it just me or am I getting a Cruella de Vil or Bride of Frankenstein vibe from these photos? It’s just me, I know.

I don’t like the ending. Too, many unanswered questionS. WHAT WILL BE THE FAITH OF THE BARKER’S DAUGHTER AND SO -CALLED RESCURER? WILL THEY BE SENT TO PRISION FOR SUCH CRIMES. SURELY YOU SEE MOTIVES. pROVERBS 1:18 AN EVIL MAN LURKS, AFTER HIS OWN BLOOD. THE BLOOD LOOKS FAKE. THE NECK CUTTINGS TOO PERFECT. iT ALL LOOKS FAKE. THE BLOOD LOOKS LIKE PAINT. BONES TV SHOW HAS MORE REAL GRAPHICS.

Okay, the movie and music are awesome. About the graphics, think about this. It was orginially a play. On stage, you can’t do too realistic graphics, and I think Tim Burton was trying to keep some of the play-esque themes in the movie. Also, I don’t think he meant for the blood to be so presentive of blood as representive of emotion. It’s so red and the rest of the film is so drabby that it really stands out. I think it was an artistic decision rather than a ‘let’s make it look as real as possible’ decision. He wanted to express the emotion Todd felt while he was kiling the people, and he probably saw that blood pretty damn red too. It was a big deal for him, and if you notice, entirely too much blood comes out of Judge Turpin’s (Alan Rickman’s) neck when Todd kills him, so yeah, I think it was an artistic decision.
