Superman star Brandon Routh is promising fans a lot more action in the announced sequel, but could General Zod make an appearance?
“I just know that in the next film there will be a lot of action and I’m gonna get to fight something, or someone. An enemy with real physical power might be worked in there, definitely.”
When asked if the infamous Superman 2 super-villian Zod would make an appearance, Routh laughed.
“I don’t know. I don’t know how much we want to reprise characters that have appeared in the series before, since we’ve reset and used the first film to pay homage to all that’s come before. Now I think Bryan (Singer) might want to go somewhere new with it, which I think will be exciting.”
Dru-Zod, or simply Zod, a megalomaniac Kryptonian villain who was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. In the comics he regularly escapes and attempts to concur earth using the powers gained from the yellow sun. The character first appeared in Adventure Comics #283 in April 1961. Actor Terence Stamp played the character in Superman: The Movie and Superman II.
The actor claims they’ve yet to come up with a title for the sequel (Superman: The Man of Steel has been circulating the web for a while now). Production will probably start in early 2008. The film is set to hit theater in June 2009.

wish some how that down the line the superman return trilogy would tie into
the smallville series or its cast and carerecters and down the rosd the superman
spirit will stay true towards it story line but also intertwine with its modernised
roots it has layed with smallville and its cast!!!!!

ok dark knight we cant make a mockery out of spiderman 3 or batman lets get real here ok the plot to bring zod back would help the superman legacy and help ratings as well. Remember it was superbaby who helped win the fight against evil in superman returns so need i say more?

Well said people. Superbaby? that’s hillarious but true, i think that killed it for the first one. It will be a wonderful idea to tie smallville and it’s cast into this somehow. that will be the balance. As for villans i’m yet to see any good comic to motion pic translation. come on now pls pick one, darkseid, doomsday, brainiac, zod, Humanite, Bizzaro, Parasite, or Mxyzptlk and remeber they are EVIL, RUTHLESS VILLANS not some joke

I think that he should have to face Bazro, becouse he has faced Zod, therefor in the 2nd one it should be someone other than Zod.
Then mabie on the 3rd one he could face the Kryptonan computer Branieac?

Mxyzptlk would suck and be too hard to produce. Lobo would be pretty badass. Doomsday would be sweet but would need to be a two movie series. I think the best thing they could do for Number 2 would be Metallo, that way you can keep Lex Luthor in it, but also have BA fight scenes

I just can’t figure how the son of Superman will be incorporated in the sequel, and Lord forbid if Superman doesn’t come back and it’s just his son. booo! I hope both of them will be in there even if Superman isn’t doing anything but giving advice to his son and allowing him to grow and learn some things on his own.

What if brainiac had followed him back to our solar system? Also the fate of New Krypton will definitely half to be included. Maybe Brainiac could have found his way to New Krypton. Maybe Superman’s son won’t be affected by Kryptonite being half human and all. Maybe Brainiac lures the young kryptonian to New Krypton. Superman is the best!

General Zod returns??? Might be cool. But he was supposedly killed with the rest of his crew. If he returns, where then has he been hiding all these years with his crew (if they also survived). It would make for a great epic story but lets look at this. We can’t have a movie with General Zod returning like he just came from space and never tell on the story of how he survived the attack of Superman and was flung to the frozen depths of his lair. If that doesn’t happen, then this movie would sort of not be call Superman Returns II as for that it would not follow the previous series of movies. I DO THOUGH THINK IT A GREAT IDEA: but Zod should have some scar or something different about him if he were stuck in something hellish or whatever.

It would be awesome to see Doomsday and Superman meet in this movie. Kill Superman off, and end the movie with his death. Next movie (3rd) would have Superman come back from the grave as he did in the comics in his bad a?! Black Superman suit. Talk about a money maker, as well as a tease for the fans.

Zod is the coolest Superman villain, but he already appeared in a movie. There are other cool villains we need to watch on the big, such as Brainiac or Bizarro.

I think that the first movie set the precedent for so many ways to take the next movie, actually the next several movies.
From the first movie it’s subtle but obvious that Louis had Superman’s child. The comic book cover is quite comical but as significant as book cover with spiderman in a new black alien suit, and we all saw his son’s 5 seconds of super fame with the piano scene…why not play this one out! Doomsday can wait, as weapon X has in the X-men films. People as I are frothing at the bit for this to come, now that’s money making! We are always turning to Kryptonite, Doomsday killed Superman on his own, let this movie adaptation stand on it’s own, and then let the sequels follow. The death , the funeral, the Justice League and the conception of four new mysterious supermen! Many movies can be made from this material. What if Lois’s husband should have an accident and become one of Superman’s arch villians, he’s already jeaolous!
This one is wide open, and can be brought to fruition or can become a basterized or doomed franchise. Keep Singer in the mix!

I think it would’ive been better if another supervillian came out, besides the ones that already appeared on previous movies. Maybe doomsday appearing. Or a movie that shows Batman and Superman and other DC superheros unite and form the Justice League. That would be very cool moive.
