People have wondered if Galactus would appear in the upcoming Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer. While the new trailer has a couple lines which I thought confirmed an appearance, some people were still doubtful.
Director Tim Story gives this update on his MySpace blog:
“There continues to be much speculation about Galactus. Major speculation. We haven’t finished the design of him/it so be careful about what you read and believe. Trust me…no one knows. One thing’s for sure, you can expect to see him/it. It will be pretty powerful. I’m having a lot of fun with the concept and believe me - MOST will be satisfied.”
For those of you who don’t know, sometimes called the Devourer of Worlds or Ravager of Planets, Galactus is an enormously powerful being who must “feed” on the energy of planets to survive. He has consumed countless planets, resulting in the elimination of entire extra-terrestrial civilizations. He is pictured to the right.

That’s excellent (if expected) news. Thanks for sharing that. I know whether Galactus would make an appearance was a hot topic for a while, but it seemed a given, at least to anyone familiar with the Silver Surfer’s origin story. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m looking forward to FF: RotSS.

It kills me that Story says they’re not “finished with the design of him.” Here’s a hint: He’s big, purple and has that cool antenna helmet. Dang it, why can’t they just stick with Jack Kirby’s original design. Anything else is NOT Galactus.

What kills me is that the movie comes out in 3 months. Shouldn’t they have the character design finalized by now?

True enough, true enough. At first I assumed that Galactus wouldn’t be revealed until the big fight scene at the end, but the dialogue in the last trailer seems to indicate that the Fantastic Four know exactly what they’re dealing with much sooner than that.
