Here is the official synopsis: Aspiring writer Carter Webb has just been dumped by his true love Sophia. Heartbroken and depressed, he escapes Los Angeles to suburban Michigan to care for his ailing grandmother and to start work on a book he has always wanted to write. Soon after his arrival, Carter stumbles into the lives of the family across the street: Sarah Hardwicke, the mother of two daughters: Paige, a precocious, effervescent eleven-year-old and her older sister Lucy, an angst-ridden teenager. While Sarah faces her own personal crisis, Lucy wrestles with her own fears. Through his relationships with all of these women, Carter discovers that what felt like the end was really just the beginning of something else…
Written and directed by Jonathan Kasdan, In the Land of Women stars Adam Brody as Carter Webb, Kristen Stewart (“The Messengers”) as Lucy, Meg Ryan as Sarah Hardwicke, Olympia Dukakis as Carter’s grandma, Makenzie Vega as Paige, Elena Anaya as Sofia, and Clark Gregg as Nelson Hardwicke.
The film will hit theaters on April 20th 2007.

Meg Ryan’s character in this movie discovers she has CANCER. You want her to look all fresh and young while she’s portraying someone with cancer? WTF??

I was going to add a “damn, that’s cold” to your comment about Meg Ryan, but two other posters beat me to it. What do you have against Meg Ryan, anyway?

p.s. Remind me not to get “old and ugly.”

LOL, I get paid to make snide remarks :P
And for the record, I actually like Meg Ryan and use to think she was very cute. And this isn’t a comment on her acting ability, but the years haven’t been good to her.

As well you should, as well you should, Mr. Sciretta.
Hey, I used to have a crush on Meg too, long, long ago, when I was into the pert, pixie type.
I didn’t think she looked too bad in the photo, just older, but fine (as in ok) for her age. Then again, “ugly” is in the eye of the beholder, right?

By the way, is it just me or is there something questionable about a college-age or post-college writer type mixing it up with a teenage girl? Heck, maybe it’s just me.
And did you notice who the writer/director is? Yep, his father is none other than Lawrence “Empire Strikes Back”/”Raiders of the Lost Ark” Kasdan. A little Hollywood nepotism? Maybe, but I’m willing to give the younger Kasdan a chance (his brother Jake wrote and directed “Orange County”).

I thought Mike White wrote Orange County?

Indeed, sir, you’re right. I knew that and forgot it. I must have assumed Jake Kasdan wrote Orange County due to his father, Lawrence, usually doubling up as writer/director on his own films.
