Uwe Boll is known for creating some of the worst movies of all time out of video game adaptations (Alone in the Dark, BloodRayne, House of the Dead). We now have a look at the first trailer for Boll’s latest: POSTAL.
[quicktime width="470" height="290"]http://www.postal-the-movie.com/trailers/postal-pg.mov[/quicktime]The movie seems to be more of a spoof like comedy (Scary Movie), claiming to be “so stupid that it will push you over the edge”. It seems to be less of the shoot-em-up that the original video game was, and more of a low-budget slapstick comedy. The movie follows a postal worker played by Zack Ward who eventually has enough and goes on a rampage through the streets of Paradise City. The film also stars Dave Foley, Seymour Cassel, Verne Troyer, and Osama Bin Ladin.
Rumor has it that Gary Coleman was offered to reprise the role he played in the video game but turned down the offer. If Gary Coleman turns down a project, than something is seriously wrong.
I give Boll props for making fun of himself in the beginning of the trailer. But I also think it’s a sad day when you need to market a movie based on the inability of it’s director. Most of the jokes also come off as trying too hard. And some how Boll even manages to turn making fun of Tom Cruise into a lame experience. Watch at your own risk.

Wow and I do mean wow. That was ten different kinds of lame. Is it so wrong that I feel compelled to see it? It’s a sickness, I know.

Having just interviewed Zack Ward yesterday, with it being posted next week, and having interviewed Boll as well (and being shocked he came across as a genuinely nice guy strangely…), I have to admit I was extremely interested in the trailer.
A few things…
1. Ok Zack looks like he’s gonna be decent in it, he rarely disappoints.
2. Vern Troyer being raped by monkeys? Erm…
3. I really didnt need to see Dave Foley naked… ugh… lol
4. The Nazi gold bit did elicit a bit of a giggle
5. Tom Cruise bit, just lame.
6. I have to admit, it does look leaps and bounds above his other movies? Maybe it’ll play as a half decent offensive comedy? Who knows. Have to admit tho it does look better than Alone in the Dark lol. Then again HERPES is better than that movie…
I’ll see this movie, just for Zack, thats about it.

Ha!! Oh man. I love good humored filmmakers. While claiming Uwe boll is a filmmaker is debatable, I really do enjoy beautifully ugly moments in some of his films.
While BloodRayne and house of dead weren’t too gripping, Bungeon Siege re-established my faith in the wonder of perfectly crappy movies. I always feel drawn to low budget, action-comics, and felt dungeon siege was the perfect mixture of hilarious attempts at action, and overacting.
I think it comes out this week, and I’m pretty juiced about buying it.
